Structures of animals are proven to be identical or homogeneous to other species of animals making them all evolved from one common ancestor. Archaeologists thought that a dinosaur fossil was a large iguana but as stated in Green, Hank [CrashCourse]. (2012, Jan. 11). Evolution: It's a Thing - Crash Course Biology #20 [Video file]. Dinosaurs have very similar anatomies to those of iguanas presenting that iguanas have a very homologous compositions proving they are closely evolved

Shop Now First published: TJ (now Journal of Creation) 11(2):137–154 August 1997 by Michael J. Oard Dinosaur extinction is still a major enigma of earth history. In this review article, extinctions in the geological record will be briefly mentioned. Many of the imaginative theories for the extinction of the dinosaurs will also be presented. Within the uniformitarian paradigm, the meteorite impact theory, once considered ‘outrageous’, now is the dominant theory. However, the volcanic theory is still believed by a majority of palaeontologists. Both theories have their strengths and weaknesses. The unscientific behaviour of those involved in the meteorite paradigm change will be briefly explored. Evidence that the dinosaurs died in a cataclysm of global proportions will be presented, such as the huge water-laid dinosaur graveyards found over the earth. Occasional monospecific bone-beds and the rarity of fossils of very young dinosaurs suggest a catastrophic death and burial. The billions of dinosaur tracks recently discovered provide testimony to unusual, stressful conditions. Nests, eggs, and babies are a challenge...

Int1 Task 1

...Natural Science (INT1) Task 1 The Changing Nature Of Science Evolution Evolution :- All living beings have developed over time from ancestors through a series of changes. That life has changed over long periods of time, with all forms of life related to one another, is a scientifically well-established fact. There are two aspects of evolution today. First, evolution is the organizing principle for all of biology. Just as we are offspring from our parents, and our grandparents before them, and so on, all living organisms today are inclined from organisms that lived in the past. Understanding how and why these ancestor-descendent lineages have changed through time helps us appreciate the diversity of life we see today. Genetics, anatomy, physiology, neurology, morphology, and behavior all of these aspects of living organisms have evolved through time. The study of the evolutionary processes that produced these traits provides the comprehensive framework for understanding them. Theory Of Evolution Evolution Theory: - Evolution is technically defined as: "a gradual process in which something changes into a different and usually more complex or better form." As it is most famously used, "evolution" is the process by which an organism becomes more sophisticated over time and in response to its environment. The Theory of Evolution is currently the most popular concept of how life reached its current state. Evolution as a biological mechanism is driven by natural selection. This...

Nests, eggs, and babies are a challenge to a Flood model, but there are enough unknowns associated with the data that solid conclusions are difficult to draw. The part that impacts and volcanism play in a Flood paradigm will be briefly discussed. The question of whether the K/T boundary and the extinction of the dinosaurs should be considered a synchronous event within the Flood will be considered. Introduction Dinosaurs bring wonder to children and adults alike. That such great beasts once roamed the earth...

Extraterrestrial Life

...Astronomy Research and the Search for Extraterrestrial Life The objective of this paper is to discuss life here on Earth and the possibilities of extraterrestrial life in one’s solar system. The team will describe the properties of life on Earth and explain the theories for the genesis of life, including the theory of natural selection. Members will provide a brief description of the evolution of life and include a geological timescale that describes specific eras throughout the previous three billion plus years. The team will assess the possibilities of extraterrestrial life, and results will be presented. Describe the properties of life on Earth Properties of life on Earth are what define the word life. The properties of life consist of cells and reproduction, responses to the environment, growth and development, and evolution. Every living thing is collected through cells which make tissues and organs that make a living organism. All living organisms can produce such as humans, animals, bacteria, and plants called asexual reproduction. The responses of the living in the environment are through any changes occurring in “light, sound, heat, and chemical contact” through “eyes, ears, and taste buds” (Cliff’s notes, 2011, para. 3). Behavior is one way that all living organisms changes through the environment such as the food chain for one’s survival. Growth and development of an organism takes in all substantial amount of information through energy of building...

Ouranosaurus Research Paper

...A French paleontologist by the name of Philippe Taquet named this approximately 110-115 million-year-old dinosaur genus in 1976. The bones were discovered in the Gadoufaoua beds of northeast Niger, Africa just ten years earlier. There are currently two nearly complete skeletal structures associated with this dinosaur; both found in the southern Sahara Desert, and one of them Taquet researched. This paper will continue to discuss the Ouranosaurus in its entirety. It will start with background information, including how to pronounce its name, what it looked like, how it was classified, and which dinosaurs it was similar to. The paper will end with more descriptive aspects, such as when and where the dinosaur lived, what and how it ate, who its...

The evolution of our mind and body have divorced us on the supposed hierarchy chain. Human beings who happened to be hunters akin to Paleolithic animals have presently grasped the dominant responsibility on earth. Inevitably, there are hindrances, for example, pollution and diseases that we cannot beat at the present moment; colds and diseases being the single killer of nearly a quarter of the entire life on earth. In fact, for years on end, animals have been by used by scientists to...

Evolution Versus Creationism

...ENG121 Evolution vs. Creationism The debate between evolutionism and creationism began thousands of years ago and the battle between the two streams of thought continues to this day. While creationists believe in a god who is the absolute creator of heaven and earth less than 10,000 years ago, evolutionists believe that the universe began billions of years ago with life started as just a single cell bacteria evolving slowly into everything we see today. “What’s the difference between creationism and evolution?” Charles Darwin’s work on evolution is the most recognized throughout history and the evidence that he discovered supporting evolution changed how many people viewed the history of our universe. His main research project was on a process called natural selection, the idea that survival of the fittest has been a main determinant is shaping how the earth and all living things appear today. Charles Darwin discuses this idea of Natural Selection in his essay “Natural Selection”, detailing evidence supporting his theory. This paper will discuss Darwin’s essay but will also go into further detail of his discoveries, other evolutionary milestones and finally comparing and contrasting the evolutionary argument to the creationism point of view. The idea of evolution first came about in the 1600’s when European naturalists started to question the current theories about how our universe was created. In 1666 the first evidence of evolution was discovered when a couple of fishermen...

Is Quantum Teleportation Possible

...Is Quantum Teleportation Possible Introduction Teleportation is the name given by science fiction writers to the feat of making an object or person disintegrate in one place while a perfect replica appears somewhere else. How this is accomplished is usually not explained in detail, but the general idea seems to be that the original object is scanned in such a way as to extract all the information from it, then this information is transmitted to the receiving location and used to construct the replica, not necessarily from the actual material of the original, but perhaps from atoms of the same kinds, arranged in exactly the same pattern as the original. A teleportation machine would be like a fax machine, except that it would work on 3-dimensional objects as well as documents, it would produce an exact copy rather than an approximate facsimile, and it would destroy the original in the process of scanning it. A few science fiction writers consider teleporters that preserve the original, and the plot gets complicated when the original and teleported versions of the same person meet; but the more common kind of teleporter destroys the original, functioning as a super transportation device, not as a perfect replicator of souls and bodies. In 1993 an international group of six scientists, including IBM Fellow Charles H. Bennett, confirmed the intuitions of the majority of science fiction writers by showing that perfect teleportation is indeed possible in principle, but...

Will Humans Be Able to Survive the Next Ice Age?

...Are Homo Sapiens really the smartest species on  Earth, and if so, is this sufficient to ensure its long‐ term survival? Submitted by: Andrew Jara Submitted to: Heidi White Course: AST 251H1 Due Date: March 12, 2013   1  As time passes, the Earth and all its inhabitants grow older, one must ask that as the number of inhabitants are increasing and the amount of resources decreasing, whether or not the human race will be able to withstand extinction. The parameters of human intelligence can be used to define and determine the possibility of this outcome. Humans are believed to have the title of being the most dominant and intelligent species on the face of the Earth, but there is much competition for that title today and arguments arise within the scientific community. Humans believe that they are separated from all other species based on the concept of intelligence and how they have used intelligence to their advantage to create language, technology and many other things to ultimately establish themselves as a successful species. In order to actually prove that humans rightfully deserve that title, one must delve into the debate of intelligence to clarify the meaning and understanding of intelligence. This will provide evidence to the argument on whether or not the human species will be viable in the long-term. In the Merriam-Webster online dictionary, intelligence is defined as the ability to collect and apply certain knowledge and information from the external environment...

Biodiversity

...events have led to large and sudden drops in biodiversity. The Phanerozoic eon (the last 540 million years) marked a rapid growth in biodiversity via the Cambrian explosion—a period during which the majority of multi-cellular phyla first appeared. The next 400 million years included repeated, massive biodiversity losses classified as mass extinction events. The Carboniferous, rainforest collapse led to a great loss of plant and animal life. The Permian–Triassic extinction event, 251 million years ago, was the worst; vertebrate recovery took 30 million years. The most recent, the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event, occurred 65 million years ago and has often attracted more attention than others because it resulted in the extinction of the dinosaurs. The period since the emergence of humans has displayed an ongoing biodiversity reduction and an accompanying loss of genetic diversity. Named the holocene extinction, the reduction is caused primarily by human impacts, particularly habitat destruction. Conversely,...

Hox Gene and Cambrian Explosion

...Session 1.3: The Evolution of Cellular Life Exam review view in a separate window In this session we focus on the natural history of cells and the evolutionary timelines of their appearance.  The modern phylogenetic classification of domains is used to categorize the different types of cells: bacteria, archea, and eukarya.  The names of periods and organisms and certain dates are often helpful in remembering or understanding events that occur in the natural history of evolution.  However, we do not expect you to know the names of all organisms mentioned nor all dates (you may find some of the sound attachments on complicated figures useful for review).  Those names and dates mentioned below are the ones to key on. The focus in this session is macroevolution which looks broadly at the time lines and changes over long intervals of time.  Remember that small changes over millions of years are the framework for evolving complexity from simplicity.    Summary of concepts and idea   An initial step in covering this material is an understanding of the different types of cells (prokaryotic, eukaryotic animal and plant), their differences, and their place in the phylogeny of life. 1. Information from pre-class reading, Bioflix animations and briefly summarized in class discusses the fundamental components of the prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells.  You need to know the differences and understand the basic functions of the cellular components as cells as they are the fundamental...

The Anthropocene Epoch

...This paper examines the relationship between the planet Earth and life by first exploring Earth’s origin and life’s formation and their relationship with rocks and understanding the chronology of Earth’s major events that shaped it. The major events discussed in this paper are the physical formation of the Earth, the Glacial Epoch, and initial oxygenation of the planet. Then it delves into Earth’s own adaptive mechanisms and its interaction with organisms that inhabit on this planet by considering factors that make life a geologic force as life and rocks developed a mutual relationship. Finally, it assesses information on Earth’s coevolutionary connection with lives on it and evaluates life and the Anthropocene Epoch. It also addresses difference...

Ergonomics of Pens

...Ergonomics of Pens * Mitali Prakash Vrinda Gupta Ask anyone who’s ever taken a timed, hand-written exam about the disadvantage of using a poorly-designed pen. Not only can writing with a sub-par utensil cost you time, but pain too. That’s because standard pens are not made with your ergonomic well-being in mind. In fact, the typical, “run-of-the-mill” ballpoint pen is designed to do one thing and one thing only: write. But as you grip the simple, straight shaft of the average pen, you begin to realize that it takes an increasingly high amount of pressure to keep the pen in your fingers. Indeed, because your fingers are fatiguing, and your fingertips sweating, more and more pressure is needed to continue to write. The problem with this of course, is that for all the pressure you exert on the pen, it exerts an equal amount of force on the bones, ligaments, and tendons of your wrist and forearm. This kind of random pressure can wreak havoc on your joints. In fact, it’s one of the leading causes of Repetitive Stress Injuries (RSIs) and Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs). Luckily, this problem has been recognized by the designers of several leading pen manufacturers. These companies have stepped forward, creating writing utensils made to eliminate pressure points, allowing you to write with ease for hours on end. Introduction The design of hand writing instruments has been based primarily on touch, feel, aesthetics and muscle exertion (Kao, 1977, 2004), and has mostly being...

Alien Existence

...when I do the laundry?” Aliens. Earth has been very much impacted by aliens in its short history. Everything from supplying life-giving chemicals and wiping out the dinosaurs with meteorites to influencing human culture and evolution. The whole world is full of evidence that aliens exist, even though it is usually denied and ignored by the government and academics. This paper will give a short investigation of extraterrestrial events and evidence. Ancient people, especially their huge structures and exciting grip of mathematics and astronomy, have always attracted human kind. For example, the Sumerians were aware of Pluto as early as 5,000 bce, seven thousand years before it was discovered by Clyde W. Tombaugh in 1930. The first written evidence of extraterrestrials was discovered in 1935 by Prof. Tsum Um Nui of the Academy of Prehistoric Research in Beijing who found a stone disk in the cave part of the Baian Kara Ula Mountains near Tibet. The stone disk was buried with a group of humans with delicate bodies and weird large skulls. At first they were thought to be apes, Prof. Um Nui was rumored to have said “Who ever heard of apes burying each other?” They ended up finding 716 disks but the Chinese government would not let any more research be done until a Russian, Dr. Saitsew, examined them and wrote a paper in 1968. When the stone disks were examined, they found that a long spiral of hieroglyphics was written on them. In one place it says literally: ‘The Dropa came down...
