...Internet Tools at Dirt Bikes University of Phoenix Dirt Bikes is a global bike company that provides merchandise as well as support, tips and tools to its wide range of customers. Dirt Bikes has been in business since 1985 and has really doubled in size in the past 5 year. The company board members and senior staff have been looking for additional ways to grow Dirt Bikes even more, with the hopes of turning this business and to a multimillion dollar company. After reviewing the company’s business model I have come up with several ways to assist Dirt Bike with the growth of the business. As it stands Dirt Bikes has 3 store fronts and 2 50,000 feet warehouses that manufacturing is performed out of. Customers must currently come into a store, discuss bike options with employees and place bike orders in the store. The sales representative than plugs in the order on the computer that has been provided. Once the order has been put into the system, another employee at the warehouse begins to build the bike that the customer ordered at the store. Currently this process could take several weeks with a number of follow ups to the customer to ensure that the bike is being built to the customer’s satisfaction. My proposal is to continue to have a store front but also to create a global website, whereby anyone can go online to the Dirt Bike’s website and from their home computer, laptop or even from a smart phone build their own bike right online. Once all the specifications...

...Dirt Bikes USA is a small company headquartered in Carbondale Colorado that manufactures and sells its own brand of off-road motorcycles. It was founded in 1991 to product dirt bikes that could be customized for racing and off-road recreational riding using the best quality components and parts from all over the world. The company has continued to grow and now faces a new set of challenges and opportunities. You have been asked to serve as a consultant to apply your information systems knowledge to help Dirt Bikes solve some of the problems it is encountering. There is an assignment awaiting you in each chapter of the Laudon and Laudon Management Information Systems text. In order to complete the assignment, you should review the corresponding text chapter and any information provided by your instructor related to the topic you are investigating. You can complete each project individually or in teams, depending on your instructor’s requirements. To develop solutions, you may need to do Web research and to use spreadsheet, database, or Web browser software tools, and you will need to use a word processor to write up your findings. Many projects recommend you use electronic presentation software, if possible, to summarize your findings for management. Each assignment will list the software tools that you will need to use and the questions you will need to answer. ...Dirt Bike Recommendations The concerns presented by Dirt Bike’s management regarding the cost of communication and keeping up with the latest industry developments can be easily solved by getting rid of outdated modes of communication and investing in current technology. In order to take advantage of new technology management may have to upgrade the current computer system to be compatible with current software. The company should take a look into the advantages of Intranet. Intranet is like the Internet except that it is a private and protected network for use by employees only. The use of Intranet will help to increase employee productivity by allowing them to access information faster. Being able to access information faster will help to improve customer service from the Sales and Marketing departments. If Dirt Bike also uses a Web browser interface employees can access data in the database from any workstation allowing them to perform their jobs more accurately and efficiently. Intranets are also a good tool to improve communication within an organization. Each department will be able to be kept up-to-date on current information, strategies and decisions. Salesmen would be able to post leads, share product information and training videos. HR would be able to store documents like handbooks, insurance benefit changes, sales and marketing strategies, company policies and so much more. The marketing department would be able to post the latest marketing trends...

...Spreadsheet charts and formulas Business skills: Financial statement analysis As part of your analysis of the company for management, you have been asked to analyze data on Dirt Bikes’s financial performance. Review Dirt Bikes’s selected financial data in the Introduction to Dirt Bikes, which can be found at the Laudon Web site. There you will find Dirt Bikes’s income statement and summary balance sheet data from 2005 to 2007, annual sales of Dirt Bikes models between 2003 and 2007, and total domestic versus international sales between 2003 and 2007. Use your spreadsheet software to create graphs of Dirt Bikes’s sales history from 2003 to 2007 and its domestic versus international sales from 2003 to 2007. Select the type of graph that is most appropriate for presenting the data you are analyzing. Use the instructions at the Laudon Web site and your spreadsheet software to calculate the gross and net margins in Dirt Bikes’s income statements from 2005 to 2007. You can also create graphs showing trends in selected pieces of Dirt Bikes’s income statement and balance sheet data if you wish. (You may want to rearrange the historical ordering of the data if you decide to do this.) Prepare an addition to your management report that answers these questions: • What are Dirt Bikes’s best- and worst-performing products? What is the proportion of domestic to international sales? Have international sales grown relative to domestic sales? • Are sales...

...Internet Tools for Dirt Bikes Dorothy Hodge IT/205 July 7, 2013 Art Kreitman Internet Tools for Dirt Bikes Fast and accurate data is something that every organization needs to rely on. Finding ways to save money is one of the biggest concerns of companies today. After reviewing Dirt Bikes’ current operations, I am able to see that there is a problem with communication within the business as well as difficulty with obtaining much needed information that could be used to improve the business. Lack of communication within the business can end up causing employees to spend more time gathering all of the information they need instead of focusing on the customer. It can also lead to the inability to complete daily tasks. The lack of communication between the company and their vendors could cause delays in production or shipping which would hurt the company financially. There are a few steps that I would like to recommend that would allow Dirt Bikes to operate more effectively while at the same time cut costs of current procedures. The first thing that I would like to recommend is the installation of an intranet that will be designed for the organization and one that will only allow access for authorized personnel. The intranet will be secure and will come equipped with a firewall that will assist in keeping hackers out of the system. An intranet would allow all departments within the organization to connect with each other, which would put the information they need...

...Chapter 3 Information Systems, Organizations, and Strategy 101 I N T E R A C T I V E S E S S I O N : T E C H N O LO GY 7-ELEVEN STORES ASK THE CUSTOMER BY ASKING THE DATA There is probably a 7-Eleven store in your neighborhood, and it’s a convenient place for picking up a can of Coke or a quick ham-and-cheese sandwich. It’s the largest convenience retailer in the world and the number one convenience store chain in the United States, with 5,300 stores. This company started out about 75 years ago as an ice-dock operator. When refrigerators started replacing iceboxes, the manager of each store asked customers one-by-one what items they’d like to stock in their new appliances. By asking customers directly and stocking only the items customers most wanted, the company grew and prospered. Over time, the company moved away from its roots, losing touch with customers along the way. It had no means of knowing what sold in each store and allowed vendors to decide what to stock on its shelves. Although large vendors, such as Coca-Cola and Frito-Lay, had powerful information systems for analyzing what they sold in individual stores, other vendors didn’t have such systems. Moreover, the vendors’ systems were designed to maximize opportunities for their businesses, not for 7-Eleven. 7-Eleven stores are not all alike. What their customers want depends a great deal on the neighborhood and region of the country where they are located. What sells well in Boston may not work in Texas. Without...

Global Bike Inc. has a pragmatic design philosophy that comes from its deep roots in both the off-road trail racing and long-distance road racing sports. Nearly 20 years ago, its founders designed their first bikes out of necessity—they had races to win and the bikes that were available at the time did not perform to their extremely high standards. So, they took matters into their own hands and built legendary bikes that would outlast and outperform the competition. From these humble origins, Global Bike Incorporated was born and continues to deliver innovative highperformance bicycles to the world’s most demanding riders. Notes ...

The following will discuss what the marketing mix is and a brief history of the marketing mix. It will also discuss further in detail the four P's of the marketing mix, as well as, show the relation of the marketing mix to a product offered by Verizon Communications. Research the marketing of Braaap The aim of Smith was to provide fun seeking customers with an ebullient bike riding. Evermore determined Smith set about designing his own bikes and researched the market extensively. He frequently travelled to mainland Australia where he participated in motocross events to build his reputation and accumulate knowledge from the best motocross riders. At the time Smith was a provisional driver and could not hire rental cars, so to overcome this limitation he sponsored riders to participate in the events he was unable to attend. Through these experiences Smith ascertained the requirements to build mini bikes capable of rivaling the American models. Lacking the means to produce them he saw no choice but to visit China and source a manufacturer capable of building mini bikes to his specification. Despite having little international business experience and no distribution channels, upon turning 18...

...before them; which are more commonly known as the boulders, river beds, moose, and mosquitos. The most spectacular section of this piece of heaven lies approximately 390 feet southeast of the center of Negaunee (Google Maps). This is where you will find the remains of what was once a booming small town neighborhood, which now “booms” with the transformation that is accredited to nature itself. In the early 1940’s nearly half of the city of Negaunee was closed off due to the extensive underground mining. The town was forced to relocate because of the risk of caving. Luckily for us, the former caving grounds have been deemed safe for the public and re-opened in recent years (City of Negaunee). This is quite obviously appealing to the history buffs, but more importantly to those that believe that nature has a mysterious and whimsical voice. Thankfully, we have many people here that get a buzz from the way the world speaks. While walking in to my naturalistic solace and playground, I tried to look at it with a new eye. Instead of just finding peace in the journey of falling leaves and comfort in the swaying branches, I attempted to observe in detail. The very first thing I noticed as I walked past a long staircase to nowhere, was that a small squirrel was perched on the lowest branch of the tree nearest me. I slowly knelt down in order to get a closer look while trying not to stir him; taking in the amber tone of his bushy fur, and the high gloss that finished each of his...

...legally. His sister was looking out for him luckily so that’s at least good for him. They hadn’t seen each other in years so this was a random occasion. All he knew was he was feeling blessed at that moment. As they were driving they seen more things that they wanted to lend a hand with but decided it wasn’t a good idea quite yet. Just as they were right outside the skirts of Hillsboro, Texas their truck started slowing down really quick. Qwan got worried because the gas in the truck was still at a half of a tank. Suddenly the engine dies. He was not quite prepared for everything and he found that out real quick. They were both frightened because of all the people from Hillsboro who not only knew them but wanted them dead. It was like a long history of hate between their families. Qwan decided they should both start loading up everything they need and start walking around to look for a car to hot wire. As they were getting prepared they heard a crowd of people talking and yelling then they saw it. It was a group of teenagers with torches, bats, and many different types of knives. Mia and Qwan were hiding trying to look as close as possible to see if any of them had guns. From what they could see nobody did so they counted to three and took off running. They thought they would get away without notice but Mia had tripped over a bottle which clinked very loudly. All of them started chasing them and to be honest those kids were way faster than they would’ve thought. Qwan spotted a car with...
