Disadvantages Of NIV

Noninvasive ventilation (NIV) is defined as the delivery of ventilation support with techniques that do not require invasive endotracheal airway. NIV achieves comparative physiological benefits to conventional mechanical ventilation by reducing work of breathing and improving gas exchange. The intervention is recognised as an effective treatment for respiratory failure in COPD exacerbations and cardiogenic pulmonary oedema, respiratory support for immunocompromised patients, and to facilitate the weaning of stable intubated patients. Avoiding admittance to critical care units is clinically important as intubation is associated with respiratory muscle weakness, upper airway trauma, ventilator-associated pneumonia, and sinusitis1. Most commonly used in critical care, improvements in training and greater awareness has led to NIV use in other acute settings2 and the community3. …show more content…
The development of pressure ulcers is associated with poor clinical outcomes, increased complications, and length of hospital stay that compound with the consequences of acute illness5. There is a paucity of research regarding medical device related pressure ulcers. Black and colleagues reported that 35% of all pressure ulcers were of those which originated from a medical devices. Medical device pressure ulcers possess unique risk factors, the existence of a microclimate individual to the device, the method in which the device is secured, that devices may obscure the skin, and the areas at risk are not routinely checked6 Facial pressure ulcers associated with the use of NIV are common and pose a substantial clinical challenge. It has been estimated that the prevalence within hours of using NIV is between 2-50% and 100% after 48

Methods of Evangelism

...case is established who is in need of salvation, (everyone), then . “As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.” (Romans 3:10-12 New International Bible {NIV}). “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” (Romans 3:23 NIV) In these few verses we establish the fact that everyone is unrighteous before God and in need of Salvation. After establishing the need for salvation “for the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23 NIV). The result of our sin is death. God however provides a way for our salvation “ But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8 NIV)  If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” (Romans 10:9-10 NIV) and,...

Servant Evangelism In The Roman Road

...area, this makes it easy to flip forward and find the next page quickly. The Roman Road can be easily memorized and used in an instant. Also, another major advantage of the Roman Road method is that the basic doctrine of the Word is covered and explained. It answers questions of why we need salvation, how we receive it, and what comes next. This method takes a person from the beginning of learning about Jesus, Romans 3:10 “There is no on righteous, not even one... (NIV)”, to finding Salvation, Romans 10:13 “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved (NIV).” Disadvantages of Using This Method – The Roman Road comes with disadvantages as well. A huge disadvantage of this method is that how the book of Romans is the only part of the Bible that is explored. The Bible takes parts from all the books and they help to build a better and more complete understanding of the others Books. The way that the Roman Road works it only accounts for one chapter not the complete work of the Bible. One other disadvantage to this method is the extreme structure. The way that this method is designed is to go through a very specific path or “road” to get to the destination of salvation. This design does not leave very much room for other question and does not help in finding answers to questions outside the bounds of the six or so verses used from Romans. Servant Evangelism Summary of Method – Servant Evangelism is the method that by serving those around us we are showing and sharing...

Nahum And Jonah Analysis

...Justice and Judgment While overlapping with the theme above, but still distinct is the theme of justice and judgment. Both the prophetic books of Nahum and Jonah include pronouncements of judgment against Nineveh (Jon. 3.4; see esp. Nah. 3.1). As Phillip Cary notes concerning Nahum’s pronouncement against Nineveh, “The justice of the LORD in toppling empires and vindicating the oppressed is a thing to be celebrated.” Cary suggests that the book of Nahum “provides the background we need to understand Jonah’s attitude toward Nineveh.” God’s judgment concerning evil is good. But Jonah (and Israel) already knew that. The unexpected twist after Jonah’s pronouncement is that “when Nineveh repented, God relented.” The fact that God had the right...

Is Childhood Poverty Increasing Inequality in America?

...Is Childhood Poverty Increasing Inequality In America? Is childhood poverty increasing inequality in America? The test of our progress," said Franklin Roosevelt, "is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have too much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little." It is by that great test that we must measure our progress in the years ahead. John F. Kennedy, 1960' (Lindsey, pg 34, 2009) Children born in America are promised equality and opportunity. How well is America keeping its promise to 1 in 4 children living in poverty? The Bible teaches we are created in God's image (Genesis 1:27). Each child is born with God's DNA but not all children grow up in a world conducive to developing their God-given potential and dreams. Not all children are given equal opportunity. "Their economic and social development will be primarily influenced by the opportunities their parents, community, and society provide" (Lindsey, 2009, p. 3). What defines childhood poverty? The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) defines child poverty as "a child is deemed to be living in relative poverty if he or she is growing up in a household where disposable income, when adjusted for family size and composition, is less than 50% of the median disposable household income for the country concerned"  (Garofalo, 2012, p. 1). The United States Census Bureau for 2011 qualified the poverty threshold for a family of four as $22,281 annual income...

...Newkirk 1 Eric F. Newkirk Dr. Garber Evangelism 101/ C01 31 March, 2016, Spring 2016 “Methods of Evangelism” The importance of understanding the methods of evangelism, which are, the intellectual, relational, and confrontational, will determine the “effectiveness” and or the “ineffectiveness” in how the Christian believer will reach the lost, for the kingdom of God. During, a Thanksgiving gathering at the main family house for the holidays, the oldest of daughter of two sisters were preparing to place a ham in a roasting pan, when her sister suddenly “yelled,” you have to cut the ends off of the ham before placing it in the oven”! After a few moments of debating, the mother was called into the kitchen to settle the debate. “Mom, shouldn’t you cut off the ends of the ham, before it is placed into the roasting pan, asked the younger sister?” The mother thought for a moment and then replied,” I cut the ends because I did not have a big enough pan to place the whole ham into”! What an awesome lesson to learn from, especially when it comes to a particular method to evangelize, “the lesson should be” “what really works most effective for one person, may not work the same for someone else”. The LORD say to Jeremiah, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations” (Jer.1:5 NKJV). Health Care Diversity

...Health Care Provider and Faith Diversity: First Draft Diane Bruce Grand Canyon University: HLT-310V 09/22/2013 Abstract Heath care is a diverse culture serving people of many faiths. Baha’i, Jainism, Sikhism and Christianity share many common elements of worship including the desire for prayer, meditation and a spiritual community. Within the health care environment religious customs of these diverse faiths and cultures may be inadvertently violated or treated disrespectfully. Preventing patient’s spiritual distress and promoting healing can be achieved by provider education and respectful care. Health care professionals of differing faiths than their patients must look inside themselves and use how they would wish to be treated as a model for caring for others. Health Care Provider and Faith Diversity: First Draft As the world grows smaller each day those working in healthcare may find themselves caring for people of many diverse faiths and beliefs. Acceptance of these beliefs first requires understanding and empathy so that the health care process might be seen from the perspective of different faiths. The following paper explores this author’s findings regarding the spiritual components that affect healing within Sikhism, Baha’i and Jainism and what similarities and differences a Christian care provider might find. Spiritual Perspective Those of the Sikh faith have few constraints about combining modern and traditional medicines. They believe that...

The Romans Road

...Part ONE - Evangelistic Method #1: The Romans Road Part ONE – Evangelistic Method #1 – The Romans Road is an “Intellectual” Method of Evangelism. It’s a simple, direct way to spread the good news. Why we need salvation, how God provided salvation, how we can receive salvation, and the results of salvation are all explained in The Romans Road. This method is a “road” through the book of Romans. First, Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” (KJV) Second, Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Third, Romans 5:8, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Fourth, Roman 10:9, “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” And Romans 10:13, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” The last step contains Romans 5:1; 8:1; 8:38-39, “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (5:1), “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” (8:1), “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (8:38-39) The...

Bibl 105

...Spiritual Laws The Four Spiritual Laws are basic and to the point ways on how to inform men and women of the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ. If you know of someone who you think is ready to hear the gospel, the Four Spiritual Laws is a simple organized way of sharing the gospel. The First Law is that “God loves you, and offers a wonderful plan for your life.” As God made the ultimate sacrifice of having his only Son die on the cross for you and me, he did it out of love so that we may live with Him forever in heaven. John 3:16 is the perfect verse in explaining the ultimate sacrifice, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16, NIV). The Second Law is “Man is sinful and separated from God. Therefore, he cannot know and experience God's love and plan for his life.” The Bible clearly states that “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). Thus why Jesus was sent to die on the cross, so that he may build a bridge between us, sinners, and God. God had a plan so that sinners may experience God’s love and be able to see the path God has for us. The Third Law states that “Jesus Christ is God's only provision for man's sin. Through Him you can know and experience God's love and plan for your life.” Jesus died in our place, he took the beating and suffering so that we wouldn't have to. Then Jesus Christ conquered death and rose again, showing...

Methods of Evangelism

...Methods of Evangelism Tim Fouse-Clark Liberty University Online The Romans Road Summary of the Method – According to Earley and Wheeler, “the Romans Road to Salvation is a way of explaining the good news of salvation using verses from the book of Romans (Wheeler). The way that my church explained it to me is that were 5 steps: 1. There is a problem: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Rom 3:3, NIV). Explain that we are all sinners and that there are none except God that are righteous. 2. The problem comes with a price: “For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Rom 6:23). Since we are sinners, we are deserving of punishment in hell. 3. Payment of the price was paid by Christ’s sacrifice: “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Rom 5:8). As propitiation for our sin, Christ took it all on His shoulders and died for us. 4. The prayer that leads to salvation: “if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Rom 10:9, 13). You need to believe it in your heart and exclaim it with your mouth. 5. Salvation through Jesus leaves us justified: “Therefore, there is now no condemantion for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Rom 8:1). We have been made new, as if we have never sinned...

Abortion

...ABORTION: There are many reasons or scenarios that a woman can put her self in to result in having an abortion. The first one that comes to mind is being too young. There is nothing worse than seeing or hearing about a girl who is 14-16 years old being pregnant. That is too young and the girls decision should be clear, have the procedure or end up with a child when in fact she is still a child. Another reason why women who are pregnant unexpectedly to get an abortion is that babies are expensive. If the bills aren’t being paid and there is only food on the table for the two of you now, how is it going to be when there is a baby who is always hungry. Even if the partners both work, for at least three months their income is going to be cut in half so the mother can give birth an be with the child, and not all people can survive with that kind of financial burden. Abortion should be made illegal, because a fetus is a baby, no person has a right to take another's life, and an unborn baby cannot make the decision to live or die. A Fetus is a Baby While some view abortion as something people should be able to choose, others say abortion is a great evil, which is destroying the moral fabric of society Cline (2010). Many of the arguments turn on the status of the fetus: Is a fetus a person? A fetus is indeed a baby. From the moment of conception, a fetus is alive and growing inside the mother’s womb. For this reason, the fetus is a baby and considered a living, breathing being...

Case Study 2

...Case Study 2 Jessica Adkins Liberty University February 7, 2016 Performance Appraisals Mrs. Howell will be unable to use the information found within the performance appraisals to decide which employees should be discharged. This is due to the managers failing to complete the appraisals properly. A performance appraisal is defined as “the identification, measurement, and management of human performance in organizations (Luis R. Gomez-Meija, 2016, p. 205) Performance appraisals are generally tools that are used in evaluating an employee’s performance based on the dimensions set by the firm (Luis R. Gomez-Meija, 2016). Performance appraisals supply firms with employee shortcomings once per year, ensure consistency among employees, and recognize valuable employees (Segal, 2000). Performance appraisals are of upmost importance to firms who are facing downsizing since it supplies accurate information for the decision-making process that is required to make employee decisions (Segal, 2000). The firm is facing the issue of performance appraisals having inaccurate information. This inaccurate information is prohibiting Karen Howell from laying off the correct employees. The firm should not layoff any employees until the information found in the appraisals can be more accurate. Requiring the managers to conduct new appraisals is the only way to prohibit the firm from facing legal issues. If the firm is unable to wait for these results then Mrs. Howell will have to use other methods...

Exegesis of 1 Thessalonians 4: 13-18

...Exegesis of 1 Thessalonians 4: 13-18 Historical Context Situated near the site of Therma on the Thermaic Gulf, Thessalonica was located near the northermost reaches of the Aegean Sea. “The ancient city was founded in Macedonia (a region that encompassed roughly the northern half of the Greek peninsula) about 315 b.c. by Cassander, who named it after his wife, Thessalonica, the daughter of Philip II and sister of Alexander the Great.” (Martin, 1995, p.21) Enjoying the status of a ‘free’, self-governing city (although still under Roman control), Thessalonica was the most influential city in Macaedonia. The city functioned as a very important trade city, as it was located on the Via Egnatia trade route (the major east-west highway from Asia Minor to Rome). On hearing the gospel, many Thessalonians were persuaded and the church grew quickly under the supervision of Paul. Many amongst the Jewish community, however, were not persuaded and instigated a riot in the city, hoping to trap Paul and his companions (Acts 17:1-9). Due to this, Paul was forced to leave the city of Thessalonica earlier than expected. As a result, two important factors were at play: * There was dissent amongst some of the Thessalonian believers, who queried whether Paul may have been motivated by money or power (hence his defense of his ministry in 1 Thessalonians 2). * The Thessalonian believers still had many lingering questions about the faith, that Paul had been unable to answer during his brief...
