This type of research calculates the degree of systematic covariation among measurements (Scmidt). If the values and one thing change, then what happens to the other? An example would be: If you were to have 22 people in a room of different heights from the shortest person to the tallest person, what would be the size of each individual's pants? They would get bigger or in other words, co-vary together. As you go from one of value to another, what happens to the other? This paper investigates the effect of board size and the effect of ownership structure on firm performance in Egypt. Using a sample non- financial corporation from the most active 50 corporations listed in the stock exchange after excluding banks and financial firms for the period 2007 to 2009. This study adopts a correlational research design using secondary data from the disclosure book issued by the Egyptian stock exchange. Multiple regressions are used to determine the extent to which variations in performance of the most active corporations is explained by the board size and ownership structure. Firm financial performance is measured by return on assets, returns on equity and Tobin Q ratio, while corporate governance aspects were board size and ownership structure. The respondents were graduates in school year 2009-2010 from the different programs of the University which require licensure examination. A total of 239 students comprised of 127 males and 112 females participated in the study. Table 1 shows the distribution of the respondents. Table 1: Distribution of the respondents The study habits and attitudes of the respondents were assessed by administering the “Survey of Study Habits and Attitudes” (SSHA) developed by Brown and Holtzman (1969) during their final year in the University. The SSHA consists of 100 items divided equally into four (4) subscales named as ‘work methods (WM)’, ‘delay avoidance (DA)’, ‘teacher approval (TA)’ and ‘educational acceptance (EA)’. The subscales are used to formulate two subtotals; summation of scores obtained from WM and DA forms a score for ‘Study Habits (SH)’ and the total score obtained from the summation of TA and EA yield a ‘study attitudes (SA)’ score.
