Topic: Iron deficiency anaemia is a condition which affects many women during pregnancy, in developing countries. Discuss the causes and effects of iron deficiency anaemia on both mother and baby.
Introduction
Anaemia in pregnancy continues to be a major public health problem and it affects more than 56 million women worldwide (Imdad, & Bhutta, 2012). The world health organisation estimates that 58% of pregnant women in developing countries are anaemic. The greatest burden of anaemia is borne by Asia and Africa where it is estimated that 60% and 52% of women, respectively, are anaemic, and between 1% and 5% are severely anaemic (Guidotti, 2000). Multiple factors lead to anaemia in pregnancy, nutritional iron deficiency is the most common cause of anaemia (Guidotti, 2000). Iron deficiency anaemia (IDA) is due to insufficient iron, without enough iron, human body can't produce enough haemoglobin, which a substance in red blood cells, so that they cannot carry oxygen to body tissues (Mayo Clinic, 2014). Yong children and pregnant and postpartum women are the most commonly and severely affected because of the high iron demands of infant growth and pregnancy. ...I just recently changed career fields. I chose to pursue an MBA degree to change careers from education to business. I only began working my new job at the beginning of November. However, in the first week we already had a branch meeting where we discussed profits, losses, and other different statistical analysis of the company. This is my first experience in this setting so even if it was just a small look into what is ahead, for me it was exciting and fascinating to see such immediate results of my MBA work being put to use. The company that I currently work for is one that allows for a lot of growth opportunities for their employees. They encourage vision, entrepreneurship, forward thinking, and personal development. I believe that in a few years time I will have great opportunity to move upward and forward in the company, and I know that the knowledge of this class will help me to see the business from different angles. I think that this class will give me an upper hand on some of the other employees as I am going to work extra hard to move up the ladder quickly. Taking this Quantitative Business Analysis class allows me to keep a greater perspective on the big picture and my larger goals. I can function in my current role, but this class has shown me how to look at the company I work for – and strategically plan how to advance. It has highlighted some areas of strength to capitalize on and some areas of weakness to improve. Just this past week we got sent...

MANIC Discussion Essay

...MANIC Discussion Andrew Teasdale What was the most import thing in the interview? “Most: Question: To be effective on your job, what is the most important thing? Answer: How to support people in learning in the context of their job.” During the interview, Dr. Teasdale stated that more instructional design is moving from focusing on formal learning to informal. This is an interesting statement because what it says to me is that we know that learning will take place either inside a classroom or outside of the classroom, but as a designer you have to be able to understand how will you be able to assist the learners, and it is more important as to what is taking place outside of the modules that you develop. This is why I would agree with the statement that consultants are needed because you will need to spend time with the clients/learners to understand what their needs are. What was something you agree with in the reading? “Agree: Question: If someone wanted to go into instructional design, what are the 3 most important things they should learn? Answer: 1) Understand learning theories, 2) Grasp of the tools set you are using, 3) Consultant, the better you can do this the more effective you can be.” I can almost understand why Dr. Curry changed from English to...

Gmat Awa Notes

...Up, Up, and AWA: Scoring Well in the Essay Section A five-part GMATTERS series, August 2005  PART ONE: This week we begin a new series on the Analytical Writing Assessment ("AWA") portion of the GMAT, otherwise known as "the essays." Because they do not feed into the overall score out of 800 (they are scored separately, on a scale of 6 points), they are often neglected. They do serve a purpose, though, and you need to take them seriously, even if they do not warrant the bulk of your study time. The essays are the first section of the exam. You have 30 minutes for each of two essays, for a total of one hour before the quantitative section begins. So if you do not write essays during at least one of your practice exams, you will probably find it surprisingly tiring the day of the exam when you have to head into the math section after an hour of writing. First, you should be aware of the two types of essay you will be required to write. One is known as "Analysis of Issue." The other is known as "Analysis of Argument." They demand different approaches and need to be understood in their particularities. Let's talk first about "Analysis of Issue." In "Analysis of Issue", you will given a statement (the "issue"). For example, "Responsibility for preserving the natural environment ultimately belongs to each individual person, not to government." (This is an actual GMAT topic and is property of GMAC which is no way affiliated with Manhattan GMAT.) Your task now is to decide whether...

...ENGLISH HANDBOOK -“Welcome to my evil lair…” -Mr. Braiman Brooklyn High School of the Arts www.mrbraiman.com http://handbook.mrbraiman.com “EVIL” Welcome to my evil classroom lair. In order to become full-fledged evil “minions,” you need to read this handbook carefully. It explains everything you need to know. “English,” as you may know, is shorthand for “English Language Arts.” Being that we are in an Arts school, but one where academics must and always do come first, it is important that we approach the subject as what it is: an art form. How does one study the arts? What exactly do we do when we study drawing, sculpture, music, or dance? Well, anyone who has studied the arts will tell you that studying the arts essentially involves two things: • Learning about, and developing an awareness of and appreciation for, existing works of art in that particular form; • Developing the skills and techniques associated with the art form, in order to create our own works. In the case of language arts, much like any other art form, we will be studying existing works of art (i.e., reading books, stories and poems), and developing the skills to produce our own (i.e., writing). That’s what English Language Arts is. We will also be preparing ourselves for New York State’s Regents Comprehensive Examination in English, which we’ll all be taking in June. This two-day, six-hour, four-part exam requires no specific knowledge or content, but it does require the skills to listen, read,...

How to Critical Analysis

...Essay writing Writing skills are particularly important for management students. Once statements are made in writing, they are much more difficult to retract or change so the meanings of sentences need to be concise and clear. It is therefore vitally important to develop your skills in this more formalised and rigorous form of communication. The following suggestions should help in preparing your essay: Planning: Before you start writing it is important that you know enough about the topic to form an argument in response to the question set. Make sure you have read enough – not just textbooks or lecture notes. Planning your essay is very important. Another key step before you put pen to paper, or finger the keyboard, is to work out a structure for your essay. Making the structure explicit will help you be clear about your overall line of argument. Equally, being clear about your line of argument will help shape your sense of structure. For these reasons IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO DECIDE THE THEME AND ARGUMENT OF YOUR ESSAY BEFORE YOU START TO WRITE. However many of you will also find it useful to try writing parts of the essay in order to work out your structure and plan your argument. Writing a structure plan does NOT mean writing a list of everything you want to include in the essay – the ‘shopping list’ approach. Rather you need to think through the logical steps of the argument. What information or points do you need to make before you can argue a certain line...
