Walt Disney Company’s mission statement
A corporate mission summarizes a company's basic policies for realizing its goals, and states the important goals that employees must strive to meet. Constructing a mission that resonates with the members of one's constituency or organization is one of the most difficult tasks that a leader or an executive committee faces. In this paper, Walt Disney’s mission statements will be evaluated. Customers, products or services, markets, concern for profitability, philosophy, and concern for employees. The Walt Disney Company's objective is to be one of the world's leading producers and providers of entertainment and information, using its portfolio of brands to differentiate its content, services and consumer products. The Company's primary financial goals are to maximize earnings and cash flow, and to allocate capital profitably toward growth initiates that will drive long-term shareholder value.
The Walt Disney Corporation is one of the most successful companies. Walt Disney, the founder, transformed the entertainment industry into what we know as animation, and found new ways to teach and educate. Walt’s optimism came from his unique ability to see the entire picture. As one of the successful entrepreneurs, Alfred Marcus (1997) states “a lot of entrepreneurial business were started not because people wanted to make money, but because they had a large purpose in mind. Walt Disney’s views and visions came from the fond memories of yesteryears, and persistence for the future.
The focus that Disney has is that they are all responsible for their actions, not only independently of each other but also dependent on each for the well working of the company. There is a level of interaction that is met by both the corporate management and the board of directors. There is an overall agreement on the goals that they have set

But how, one might ask, did Walt Disney get into animation and becoming famous as he is now. Well, to get to that, we start in the beginning, to the early twentieth century. Walt Disney was very interested in art at a young age, as he would sell his drawings to his neighbors to make some money. Soon, he pursued into his art career, by studying art and photography by going to McKinley High School in Chicago. As he grew, Walt began to love and appreciate nature and wildlife, and that of family and community. He was encouraged by both his mother, and older brother, Roy, to pursue in his talents. During the fall of 1918, Disney attempted to get himself enlisted for military service, but was rejected due to him being underage at only sixteen years old during that time. So instead, he joined the Red Cross and was sent overseas to France, where he spent a year driving an ambulance and chauffeuring Red Cross officials. But the funny thing was that Disney's ambulance was covered from stern to stern, not with stock camouflage, but with his cartoons. When Disney got back from France, he began to pursue a career in commercial art, which he started a small company called Laugh-O-Grams; which later full into bankruptcy.
