...• Analyze funding opportunities for small businesses, including the role of the Small Business Administration (SBA). Then, evaluate the effectiveness of these funding opportunities in light of the current economy. • In this time of economic challenges, suggest two ways that the SBA might be of assistance to your small business. Explain how you would request this assistance. Small businesses have two major options for funding; a bank loan or pursue the Small Business Administration (SBA). A bank loan is standard, acceptance is granted based on a business plan, credit score, collateral and likeliness of success. The same process can be accomplished through the SBA but grants are also available. A grant would be the best option for the start of a small business because these monies do not have to be paid back where as payment of a loan is definite as well as interest. Even if a small business were given a grant in addition to a loan it would only benefit. The SBA would be helpful in today’s economy because they provide information of how to start a business and how to create a business plan. Also, information on government contracts, how laws could effect your business and taxes is available for anyone wanting to start a small business. • Compare and contrast three different types of entrepreneurs and state which you are most likely to emulate should you begin a small business. • Assess the impact of globalization and information technology on the creation...

Meek's New Jersey verbal assault is only his latest as opener on Nicki Minaj's Pinkprint tour: "Everybody catching bullet holes, including Drake and the whole OVO," he rapped during a Tuesday show in Charlotte, referencing a shooting following Drake's OVO Fest. The entire Meek-Drake feud began after Meek accused the rapper of using a "ghostwriter" – referencing Quentin Miller, a Drake collaborator openly credited for his contributions – which launched a series of responses both recorded and live. Drake's meme-crammed, guest-assisted OVO Fest performance looked like a knockout blow, but Meek hasn't slowed down, even threatening the rapper with wedgie-related assault. Meanwhile, the court of public opinion has ruled in Drake's favor. After the Toronto native unleashed hot fire with "Back to Back," Meek responded with his "Wanna Know" diss, which was criticized across the board – with everyone from politicians to NBA stars (Kevin Durant, Isaiah Thomas, among others) chiming in on social media. ...Citizenship: The Compromise of Equality and Freedom The post modern-state citizenship regime was intended to be inclusive and promote social equality but from this regime stems ideas and practices that are exclusionary in nature. The idea that people in a state had the right to thrive in their communities as well as participate politically was revolutionary. Despite this positive intent, the idea of citizenship brought up the question of exactly who was entitled to this freedom and led to binary distinctions and new exclusions. The modern-state citizenship regime is an impediment to the full achievement of human freedom and equality because the hierarchies that dictate the duties and rights of citizens marginalize and deny rights to people of different genders, race, and class. The exclusionary principles of citizenship are apparent in the post modern-state citizenship regime and are exemplified through the disenfranchisement of women, people of color, and the working class. Wallerstein sheds light on the effect of the adoption of citizenship when he writes of how “the inclusiveness of citizenship was exclusion. Those who were not citizens of the state had become by definition aliens—citizens, perhaps, of some other state, but not of this state.” (Wallerstein pg. 2). This quotation shows how the idea of citizenship allowed many to have these rights to freedom and voting but also marginalized those who were not considered citizens. He also says that “all do not have...

...That same year, The Notorious B.I.G was named the “Best New Artist,” “Best Live Performer” and “Lyricist of the Year” by The Source. Biggie partnered up with stars such as R. Kelly and Michael Jackson. 2pac and Biggie were close friends until 2pac got shot. 2pac didn’t know who shot him but he thought Biggie Smalls had something to do with it. He thought that Biggie was setting him up. After he got shot, he went to prison and once 2pac got out he started attacking Biggie anyway he could. One of the most famous diss 2pac did toward Biggie was the song called “Hit em Up”. Pac was thinking of all kinds of strategies to ruin Biggie’s reputation. One way was by getting a picture of him and Biggie’s wife and said they slept together. 2pac made it very clear that anyone who was friends with Biggie was an enemy to him. That meant if you were his enemy he would make a direct diss to you and most rappers couldn’t afford that from such a popular artist. But Biggie never made any diss songs to 2pac. In 1996 after a Mike Tyson boxing match, Tupac and Suge Knight beat up a guy that they had a issue with. Later that night the car Tupac and Suge Knight were in got shot up by unknown people. Tupac got shot three times and Suge Knight got shot once, then a few days later Tupac died. Then about a year later The Notorious B.I.G was shot and killed, probably as pay back for the killing of Tupac. ...

...The Journal of Nepalese Business Studies Vol. I No. 1 Dec. 2004 Growth and Performance of Securities Market in Nepal Jas Bahadur Gurung* ABSTRACT Securities Board, Nepal, an apex regulator and facilitator of capital market, and Nepal Stock Exchange Ltd., only a single stock market, are the main constituents of securities market in Nepal. This paper attempts to study the growth trend and analyze the performance of Nepalese securities market. Likewise, the variables such as number of listed and traded companies and their securities, number of transactions, trading turnovers, paid up value, market capitalization and NEPSE index are analyzed for the secondary market. SECURITIES MARKET IS A MECHANISM created to facilitate the exchange of financial securities or assets by bringing together buyers and sellers of securities (Sharpe 1998). Securities markets provide an effective way of procuring long-term funds by issuing shares and debentures or bonds for corporate enterprises and government and at the same time provide an investment opportunity for individuals and institutions (Adhikari 2004). Thus, the market place for these financial securities is called securities market which is further subdivided into the primary and secondary market. The former market denotes the market for newly issued securities to the public whereas the latter market refers to the market for secondhand securities, traded previously in the primary market (Francis, 1991). The securities market plays...

...Two views on Hijab Hijab: that is, wearing a headscarf as a sign of modesty, a common (but not required) act among Muslim women. What do women who observe hijab really think about hijab in America? This essay will compare two women’s views. The first woman, a blogger identified by the moniker Scarf Ace, expresses her personal struggles with hijab in a blog post titled “Miss or Diss?” The second woman, Fatemah Fakhraie, is a Muslim-American activist for the rights of women. Her article “Scarfing it Down,” originally published in Bitch magazine--a feminist news publication--examines hijab bans and the way they effect Muslim women’s rights. While both women participate in hijab, their opinions differ on the view society takes: One woman wishes that society would accept her choice to observe hijab, the other demands it. Scarf Ace speaks out about her decision to start hijab. She begins by stating the difficulties with wearing the headscarf: it’s hot, people look at her, she can’t have a ‘good hair day’, etc. She continues because of her “husband’s high regard for hijab” and because, as a stay-at-home mother, she can choose when to leave the house, thus not having to wear it constantly (488). Her blog is an outlet for dealing with her decision to start hijab; she has very mixed emotions about it, and she wants people to hear her voice – she wants her decision to be understood and...

...Changes in the Aboriginal Justice System through Colonialism Austin Jamieson 11153678 Native Studies 107 Ron Laliberte November 20, 2013 Aboriginal justice system has gone through many changes throughout history. This has mostly been because of Colonialism. Its presence is highly noticed in the formation of cultures and their ways, as well as in the elimination of others cultures and their ways. Colonialism has affected Aboriginal culture in several ways; however, a significant area that has been affected is the traditional Aboriginal justice system. Aboriginal communities had their own sense of justice and punishment prior to the arrival of the Europeans in Canada, Aboriginal communities lost their traditional means of sentences to the implementation of European corporal punishment. In the Western concept of justice, the system punishes the offender through a process of trying to make the offender conform, often locking them away to protect society from the dangers that offender brings to those around them. Aboriginal systems (which varying) try to focus on restoring the peace and harmony of the community. The concept is meant to use the justice system to bring equilibrium into the offender and community, as balance is necessary for kinship and relationships to flourish. Elders within Aboriginal communities began to bring many of these traditional correction techniques back into society to fix the growing numbers of criminal offenders throughout the country nearing...

...Driven by a Steam Engine The Second Industrial Revolution was characterized by the enormous advances in production technology ushered in by the advent of steel and harnessing of electricity. The beneficiary of these advancements were railway manufacturers, who utilized these innovations to move past the cumbersome steam engine railways to electric railways powered by diesel engines and built on cheaper, stronger steel tracks. Railroads became faster, cheaper, and more comfortable, and the rapidly growing industry provided many North Americans with dreams of building the first transcontinental railway that would propel them into generations of prosperity. Two such North Americans were William Mackenzie and James J. Hill, Canadians who made it their lifelong goal to build the first transcontinental railway. Ultimately, Hill succeeded in achieving his dream while Mackenzie’s railway floundered through bankruptcy and shoddy assembly. The difference between Hill’s success and Mackenzie’s failure lay in their approaches to building railway empires. Where Hill was the single-minded perfectionist, relying only on himself in every aspect of his Great Northern Railway, Mackenzie treated his Canadian Northern Railway as one of his many hobbies, giving his attention only to facets of the railway that interested him and frequently relying on others for aid. Mackenzie and Hill’s different attitudes set them apart in their devotion to their dream, attention to detail, and varying levels of...

...Chicago-Style Citation Quick Guide The Chicago Manual of Style presents two basic documentation systems: (1) notes and bibliography and (2) author-date. Choosing between the two often depends on subject matter and the nature of sources cited, as each system is favored by different groups of scholars. The notes and bibliography style is preferred by many in the humanities, including those in literature, history, and the arts. This style presents bibliographic information in notes and, often, a bibliography. It accommodates a variety of sources, including esoteric ones less appropriate to the author-date system. The author-date system has long been used by those in the physical, natural, and social sciences. In this system, sources are briefly cited in the text, usually in parentheses, by author’s last name and date of publication. The short citations are amplified in a list of references, where full bibliographic information is provided. Aside from the use of notes versus parenthetical references in the text, the two systems share a similar style. Click on the tabs below to see some common examples of materials cited in each style, including examples of common electronic sources. For numerous specific examples, see chapters 14 and 15 of the 16th edition of The Chicago Manual of Style. * * * * * Notes and Bibliography: Sample Citations The following examples illustrate citations using the notes and bibliography system. ...CHAPTER 1 THE PROBLEM AND LITERATURE REVIEW 1.1 Background of the Study The current era places big emphasis on the role of instructional supervision in the development of the education and improvement of student learning outcomes. It’s not the sole responsibility of the teachers to bear the tasks of delivering basic education services to the clienteles but rather a two-way process between them and the instructional leaders. As Ekyaw (2004) states it, it’s an interactive process that depends on the source supervisor and the teacher. Instructional Supervision (IS) is the phase of school administration which focusesprimarily upon the achievement of the appropriate expectations of educational system (Peretomode, 2004). Zepeda (2012) added that supervision fosters the internal and external motivation that leads to teachers’ professional growth. One recent definition is given by Glickman, Gordon & Ross-Gordon (2013) where they reiterate that instructional supervision is an assistance for the improvement of instruction and should be viewed as a function of process. Further, Marzano, Frontier &Livingston (2011) noted that the purpose of IS should be the enhancement of teachers’ pedagogical skills, with the ultimate goal of enhancing student achievement. In the Philippines, various reforms and educational movements have decentralized the context of educational management. It gives much emphasis on school empowerment and instructional supervision. Likewise, RA 9155 stressed...
