Project Dissemination

Dissemination of the project's results will be necessary in order to further the broader objective of increasing financial literary beyond the borders of London and Laurel County. Dissemination will take a number of forms, utilizing a diverse set of outlets, and will include local, national, and global components that acknowledge the scope of the issue at hand, which reaches far beyond the grass-roots efforts for which we are seeking funding.

The first step will be to make the results, both short term and long term, of the project available to students, parents, teachers, and other members of the community in which the project will be enacted. This will be done for a number of reasons, including earning the buy-in of those most immediately impacted by the project's efforts, as well as charting the progress of the project against its stated goals. Results in the form of raw statistical data and meaningful analysis will be published via the London-Laurel County Chamber of Commerce's website, as well as through numerous social media outlets, including but not limited to Facebook and Twitter. A press release will also be issued, initially made available to local media outlets and expanded in scope as interest level dictates, in order to better publicize our efforts through traditional media outlets, as well as tout the generosity of the grantor for the project.

The second step will involve the publication of our findings in scholarly peer review journals that are available through numerous databases and web sources nationwide. This will done for the purpose of gaining critical insight from peers in the field of education and financial literacy with respect to methodology and data analysis, and ultimately to promote the project's efforts and touts its success. In order to measure the true success of the project and shape the process to better meet the needs of those we are trying to educate, our results must be subject to criticism and scholarly insight. A webinar will also be conducted after an unspecified period in order to garner feedback in real time and answer questions as to the 'hows' and 'whys' of project specifics. This will be done in order to better educate the educators in our promotional efforts for financial literacy awareness.

The third step in disseminating our efforts will be to utilize a global web presence in order to make our project and its results available to the broadest audience possible. Financial literacy is in no way unique to Southeastern Kentucky or the United States, and thus it is imperative that these education efforts, and the resulting supporting data, be disseminated free of charge and to whomever would benefit from them. Once again, social media will be at the forefront of this initiative, as well as a strong Youtube presence broadcasting, with permission of the Chamber, the seminars themselves and a thorough explanation of project goals and achievements.
