I visited the museum the see the exhibit Posing Beauty on Thursday October 3, 2013 at 2:45 p.m. The museum was not busy. The noise level was low and very easy to concentrate and really understand and connect to the pieces. The piece I chose was, Baby Back, from “American Family”, 2001 by: Renee Cox b. 1960. This photo is very simple but says a lot. The woman is an African American woman with what looks to be a whip in her hand. She looks to be a hard worker and determined that does not take just anything from anyone. My personal thoughts on this work are very strong. I feel that this piece of art says a lot. It is just beyond there being a naked woman lying on what looks to be a day bed. It says a lot such as she is a strong African American woman that seems to be a hard worker. She represents women very well in this picture. I do not think this picture has anything to do with anything sensual or sexual. Title: Baby Back, from “American Family” On average, daily 1.4 billion photos are taken from smartphones alone. 638 of them are posted to social network sites. All different types of pictures are taken. The photos range from people to animals to school work or even just a nice picture of the sky. Many pictures that are taken do not even have a meaning behind them but there are several who do such as all of the wonderful pieces by, Renee Cox, particularly, the one titled Baby Back from “American Family”, 2001. Most of her pieces come off as seductive or sensual but are not at all. You have to read the photograph and see past the visual. You have to connect to the art piece to see what the artist is really trying to say. With that being said, as photographs are becoming very popular as a way to express things, do you feel that photographs are read as they should be by viewers or should artist be more detailed and straight forward with what they are trying to

LInux and the CLI

...discussed as factors in your decision. Formatting using the CLI, while works fine for simple forms, is too limiting for complex documents. We have not gotten far enough to input things like pictures/graphs/diagrams ect, but when using a GUI I know from personal use that it is relatively simple. I will say, however, that when dealing with formatting from version to version of a program (lets say from a .doc to a .docx) can be frustrating. I have had times that there was no way that the file could be fixed, and that I had to make a whole new document, because the newer program would just not accept the old file in its original format. This is an advantage when using the CLI. .txt is .txt no mater what program it was created on, or platform that you were using. This is a HUGE advantage that using the CLI has over the GUI. If I am using Open Office on a Linux system to create a document, and then you want to open that same document using Microsoft Word on a Windows system there are huge problems in the “conversion” process. Even if you save said file using Open Office as a .doc file, when opening with Word, Its just not right. I think we have all ran into this issue, and it can be vexing. So I think that using the CLI to create and manipulate files is, overall, more efficient; we will always be visual beings and want to have our pretty buttons to...

...Fin 422 section 04 15 September 2015 Lenders Pitch Refinanced Loans to Former Students (Some of Them)- Annamaria Andriotis- July 30, 2015 A growing number of student lenders are now refinancing the debt of certain graduates with high credit scores and high-paying jobs. Andriotis explains that five lenders have recently refinanced $5 billion in loans, and Golman Sachs Group Inc. estimates $200 billion of student loans could become eligible for refinancing. This strategy of the lenders is aimed at stealing customers from large banks and the federal government. The federal government currently makes up about 93% of outstanding student loan balances and charge the same interest rate regardless of income or credit score. While still a small portion of the student market, lending firms could potentially transform a huge part of the lending business. Refinancing through big banks has been difficult in the past and still is today. But recently, newer, more innovative startups are making it easier on student borrowers by refinancing private and federal loans. While helping students lower interest rates is definitely a good thing, some consumer advocates argue that under this approach, most of the debtors getting a break are the wealthy, not the ones who need it most. This is because the borrowers have incentive to “cherry pick” borrowers with lower credit risk. This new attention to the student-market isn’t surprising given the huge and growing market. With tuition prices still...

...Assignment 2:Case 5-1 Dwayne Smith Dr. Harris Strayer University Marketing 5008 July 29, 2012 Introduction       The Helms-Burton Act has become one of the most controversial and widely discussed international legislation in decades.   The resistance from the Cuban government about the features of the Helms-Burton legislation is a clear affirmation of the legitimacy of property claims irrespective of the passage of time.   This report will address the issues with the America’s Cuban Conundrum.   It will analyze the key issue that prompted the EU to take the Helms-Burton Dispute to the WTO, determine who benefits and who suffers from an embargo of this type of economic barriers.   This report would also constitute a resolution to the trade condition between U.S and Cuba, and determine what type of economic barriers would have to be overcome by a U.S. Firm to conduct business successfully in Cuba. The Cuban Democracy Act of 1992 stipulates that U.S. sanctions on Cuba will remain in place until specific moves toward democracy bring about a calibrated adjustment.   The Cuban Liberty and Democratic Solidarity (Libertad) Act—or Helms-Burton bill—which Senators Helms, Dole et al. have introduced in the Senate, goes further in strengthening international sanctions, establishes a civil right of judicial action for U.S. citizens having ownership of or interest in expropriated properties—with reference either to fair market value or amounts certified by the...
