...HISTORY Domino’s Pizza was founded in 1960 and since then has grown to become the largest pizza delivery company in the United States. It has grown from a mom-and-pop pizza store to a network of company-owned, franchise-owned stores in the United States and across the globe and was recently ranked number 1 in Forbes magazine’s “Top 20 Franchises for the Money” list (David, R 2013, p. 372). Domino’s Pizza was the brain child of the brothers Tom and James Monaghan who grew up in foster care and had dreams of success. In 1960 the brothers opened their first pizza store in Ypsilanti, Michigan named Domi-Nicks with a nine hundred dollar start up loan. In 1961 Tom acquired full and sole ownership of Domi-Nicks by trading his brother James a car, a Volkswagen Beetle to be specific, for his half of the business. He then changed the name to Domino’s Pizza Inc. During the period from 1965 to 1978 Domino’s experienced steady growth and had increased from the initial mom-and-pop store, to having 200 locations nationwide. The 1980’s saw continued expansion of Domino’s and its brand. They grew to more than 5,000 locations in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Japan, Australia and Columbia (David, R. 2013, p.372). In 1986 Domino’s Pizza launched its Pizza Partners Foundation which is 100% funded by team member and franchise contributions and has disbursed nearly $12 million to aid team members facing crisis situations. Company founder Tom Monaghan eventually retired in 1998...

...DOMINOS Different levels of Management Domino’s has three levels of management . 1) First-level management 2) Middle-level management 3) Top-level managem Top-level management: The top management comprises of the board of directors president, vice-president, CEOs and other members of the C-level executives. They controll and oversee the entire organization. They make and develop strategic plans, company policies, and decisions on the direction of the business. The board of directors is typically primarily composed of non-executives which carry out duty to shareholders and are not closely involved in the day-to-day activities of the organization, although this varies depending on the type (e.g., public versus private), size and culture of the organization. The board sets corporate strategy, makes major decisions such as major acquisitions, and hires, evaluates, and fires the top-level manager (and the CEO typically hires other positions. The board may also have certain employees (e.g., internal auditors) report to them or directly hire independent contractors; for example, the board (through the audit committee) typically selects the auditor. Helpful skills of top management vary by the type of organization but typically include a broad understanding competition, world economies, and politics. In addition, the CEO is responsible for executing and determining (within the board's framework) the broad policies of the organization. Executive management...

Amit én a gyengeségek...

...There are a few different systems described in the case study of Domino's Pizza. The transaction processing system, which consists of computerized systems that perform and record the daily routine transactions necessary to conduct business, is utilized in the companies Pulse system. Pulse is Domino's point-of-sale system which takes and customizes orders using a touch screen interface, maintaining their sales information as well as collecting customer data. The input under this system occurs when customers place their orders, which provides the details of the pizza and any other requested items. The process under the transaction processing system is the collection of data as well as it being uploaded over the internet into the Lenovo PC for processing. The Lenovo is part of the updated Pulse Evolution system that Domino's Pizza adopted. Under the old system it was considered to be a “thick client” model, which required all fully equipped machines. The output for the transaction process system in this case study is the customer information data, the number of pizza's sold along with toppings and costs of other food items sold. Also, the pizza tracker system, which allows customers to view a simulation of their pizza as it is being customized and created is part of their output. The management information system provides middle and upper management with reports on the company's current performance. According to the case study in our textbook, the Pulse system that was...

...Pizza Delivery Position Paper “I’m damned if I do, and I’m damned if I don’t,” (Old Saying). Life is filled with hard choices. In fact, the line between right and wrong action can be so blurred at times, that the morally correct action can truly be a mystery. This is why ethics is so important; because it allows one to sharpen their intellect and be able to discern right action from wrong. However, one part which even gives ethical reasoning a run for its money, is a decision where both outcomes are, by all estimations, equally as bad. In summation, Domino’s pizza has started a practice with one of its branches which disallows drivers to deliver pizzas to certain neighborhoods in their zone. As a part of this practice, Domino’s has created a map of its deliver radius and marked areas where it will allow drivers to deliver to and where it won’t allow drivers to deliver to. This policy was first implemented, because many employees where being robbed and murdered in these particular neighborhoods. Eventually certain members of the community, who lived in these “bad” neighborhoods, protested and said that these practices were pronounced acts of racism. Eventually other political groups got involved, such as the American Civil Liberties Union, who criticized this practice because all the targeted neighborhoods were predominantly minority neighborhoods. When first examining this problem, we see that there is one single underlying issue at the heart of the problem; is this practice...

...Week 1 Discussion My definition of social responsibility is being aware that every action you take (and equally, every action you do not take) impacts someone else. Examples of this can be seen in the book, "The Butterfly Effect" by Andy Andrews. In this book, the author discusses the hypothesis proposed by a doctoral student that a butterfly could flap its wings and set in motion molecules of air that would move other molecules of air, eventually capable of causing a hurricane on the other side of the earth (Andrews, 2009). Seemingly preposterous, until thirty years later when physics professors from colleges and universities around the world came to the conclusion that "The Butterfly Effect" was indeed possible and it has since been accorded the status of a law known as "The Law of Sensitive Dependence Upon Initial Conditions." If we live life with this law in mind, we understand how much even the smallest actions we take can have on our surroundings and the people we come in contact with. Whether it was Rosa Parks refusing to move from her seat on a bus one day or whether a sixty-eight year old widow who continually encouraged Virginia Ramirez to go back to school (Loeb, 2010) our actions can be the catalyst to positive change in our or someone else's environment. One of the ways I am using this theory is in my workplace. I have inherited an office full of discipline issues and employees who have learned to point fingers of blame instead of taking personal responsibility...

...Domino’s Pizza Demand and Forecast ECO550 Rigo Benitez Dr. Atia Yasmeen Strayer University Demographics and Independent Variables Analysis Domino’s Pizza is planning to open a store in Annandale, VA, a median-size town about 10 miles outside of Washington D.C. Domino’s Pizza will do a demand and forecast to determine if it’s a good decision to open the store. The independent variables are population, mean household income, and pizza price as the independent variable. Annandale’s census population was 41,008 at the 2010 census, down from 54,994 in 2000 due to the splitting of the western part form Wakefield and Woodburn CDP's. The population and household income should help determine if people are willing to pay the pizza price and how much is the demand for pizza. The population helps determine the demand for pizza because of the law of the demand, the larger population the larger the demand. The household income will help also because the more disposable income the more people will buy a common good. Pizza is a common good that people will buy more often if they have more disposable income. The following chart display the variables used to determine pizza demand. Testing Coefficient of Determination Analysis Using Data Regression Analysis tools on Excel, the following results are used to determine the pizza demand in Annandale and if Domino’s Pizza should go ahead with the decision open the store.
