Atticus Finch Heroism

...Everyone has a different definition of heroism. Heros could be brave, courageous or audacious, bold, and good-looking. According to Atticus Finch, heroism is “when you know you’re licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what. You rarely win, but sometimes you do.” When I think of a hero, I think of someone who is willing to take bold risks. Many qualities of a hero are overlooked, like courage, honesty, bravery, selflessness, and the will to try. You don’t have to kill anyone, conquer forbidden land, or take crazy risks towards your life to be a hero. Anyone who influences anyone else by saving or helping save his or her lives is a hero. Although he is not Superman, Franklin Delano Roosevelt was a hero who changed many people’s lives during the Great Depression by creating the New Deal. Even a parent can be a hero to his or her child by leading them in the right direction. All teachers are heroes when they make it their job to teach a child anything that will help them in life. In To Kill A Mockingbird, Atticus mentions to Scout that Mrs. Dubose was a hero because she wasn’t afraid of death and worked so hard to stop her addiction to morphine. You do not have to go to great lengths by risking your...

Destroying The Ring Research Paper

...The reason being that I want myself and everyone else to live in harmony. I don’t want anyone to suffer anymore and I want every type of land to be happy. I want any person to walk out and not be afraid of what could be lurking. Im not selfish enough to keep the ring and power for myself. Sauron had placed such dark powers in this one ring that the bearer will be crippled by the evilness in this ring. The darkness in this ring would destroy all known to humanity. With Sauron trying to create this ring to destroy the elves he failed because the ring was destroyed. That’s a perfect reason why the ring should be destroyed so the elves won’t be destroyed! With life being challenging as it is the elves let alone any other species don’t need to deal with a ring that could possibly destroy them all. The dark world and the eye controlling as they are its annoying enough for anyone to even explore any certain lands of sorts. All in all, I would destroy the ring. Unless you have a desire to destroy all of humanity (and especially the elves) I don’t think you want the ring. The ring holds nothing but complete evil and darkness. The ring thankfully was destroyed like it should...

...Unknown Author Work like you don’t need money, love like you’ve never been hurt, and dance like no one’s watching The richest man is not the who has the most, but he who needs the least. Dalai Lama Old friends pass away, new friends appear. It is just like the days. An old day passes, a new day arrives. The important thing is to make it meaningful: a meaningful friend -- or a meaningful day. I believe that the very purpose of our life is to seek happiness. That is clear. Whether one believes in religion or not, whether one believes in this religion or that religion, we all are seeking something better in life. So, I think, the very motion of our life is towards happiness… Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them. We can never obtain peace in the outer world until we make peace with ourselves. If you have fear of some pain or suffering, you should examine whether there is anything you can do about it. If you can, there is no need to worry about it; if you cannot do anything, then there is also no need to worry.” If you don't love yourself, you cannot love others. You will not be able to love others. If you have no compassion for yourself then you are not able of developing compassion for others. Queen Nefertiti: A Successful Civilization

...If you're selfless, you think less about your self, and more about others. Every good leader has to make life changing choices for their civilization. An example of this would be going to war, changing voting rights, or electing a high position in government. The leader needs to be brave and make the big decisions on what is best for their country. A good leader does what they know is right wether they agree with it or not. Confidence, when you look back on great leaders they were not timid or afraid of what people thought of them. We look back on great leaders who fought for what they believed in and what they knew was right. For example, Queen Nefertiti wanted a monotheistic religion. She didn’t “sorta” want one or think it “might be cool”, she was determined and knew exactly what she wanted. She had confidence. Many people didn't agree with her idea, but she was so confident and showed such great strength they looked up to her. Next, determination. Every good leader is determined to make change and do the best they can. When a leader shows...

Run Holden Run

...Run Holden Run The Philippines is already one of the most overpopulated and dangerous societies our world has to offer. The word “safe” can no longer be explained throughout the country because even the people whose duty are to protect us, turns out to be one of the biggest frauds and pigs our country has. The society barely even has any rules. This can be seen with the high crime rate and the wrong people we might eventually encounter in our daily lives. Crime arises by the minute and it is our duty to protect ourselves from the obstacles life has prepared for us. Holden sees the world as an evil and corrupt place where peace and happiness couldn’t really be found. He is afraid of going outside of his society and interact with different people because he sees the city as a dangerous place to be in. That is why Holden wears his red hunting hat all the time to keep him “safe” from the drunks, perverts and thieves he might face in his journey in Manhattan. However the red hunting hat didn’t really keep him safe, he meets people like Maurice, Sunny and he even suspects his own former teacher Mr. Antolini might have tried to do something to him. Holden like us tries to run from these strangers and challenges, he creates and faces in his life but no matter how far he runs he couldn’t really escape the dangers of his society. He cannot hide from the world that he must face. Just by walking out in the streets of our doomed society we should always watch our surroundings,...

Juxtaposition In Hoot

Somebody sees one, you tell him it’s a- I don’t know, a robin or a wild chicken or something.” Curly knows something is wrong, and that owls live on the property, but he is too afraid to say something. This is extremely different to Roy, a young man who doesn’t back down without a fight no matter what. Pay It Forward

...One of my favorite figures, Ralph Waldo Emerson, wisely wrote, “In the order of nature we cannot render benefits to those from whom we receive them, or only seldom. But the benefit we receive must be rendered again, line for line, deed for deed, cent for cent, to somebody” and this is exactly what “paying it forward” is. Kant says that morality is not just doing the right thing by helping other people, but doing it for the right reasons as well: simply because it is the right thing to do. He holds true that for an action to be moral, it must be done out of a principle which can be applied to everyone equally, a maxim that can be willed to become a universal law. The movie and the book, Pay it Forward, progressively rises towards the moral standards of Kant as the characters come to understand the meaning of this movement and their duty to the world. I saw a bumper sticker the other day that said, “Think globally, act locally.” That is what the kids in Mr. Simonet’s class are really being assigned to do and that is what the Pay it Forward movement demonstrates. We are all connected to each other. The world may be broken but in watching and helping those around us for the right reason, the benefits spread worldwide. Kant agrees that the world is broken, that the human condition is flawed or Trevor in the beginning says, “the world is shit.” Trevor looks at all the bad around him; the trailer homes, the bullies, all the starving homeless people. His mom is a drunk and working as...
