It was the 1976 Winter Olympic Games in Innsbruck, Austria. Team U.S.A. left with three gold medals. One belonged to America’s sweetheart who took the gold for Ladies’ singles figure skating all while rocking her famous bobbed hairstyle. She skated her programs like no other. Dorothy Hamill was and is to this living day, a figure skating legend. Like Hamill, I am a figure skater. From a young age of eight, Dorothy Hamill took the sport seriously. She would wake up at 4:30 a.m. to practice at the local seasonal rink. She was driven by a determination to be the best she could be. She failed and succeeded.
