A) When it comes to generational cohorts, I belong to Generation Y or millennials as I was born in 1990. My parents, on the other hand, belong to Generation X or Xers as they were born in 1966 and 1967. B) When it comes to buying a new computer, I personally tend to do my fair share of research on different types. I currently own a Macbook by Apple and before I bought it I compared different types of laptops with their specifications, benefits, and prices. I did so by either looking up the information on the computer or looking at ads in the paper. My parents on the other hand would go by advertisements and what a sales person would say. They wouldn’t look for any specifics but rather just the basics of what most people use a computer for. It’s funny that my parents are that way because according to the book, Generation X “tend to be less likely to believe advertising claims or what sales people tell them”, and my parents are the opposite of that. I believe that to be though because they are foreign and didn’t come to the United States until the 1980’s. C) Now when it comes to buying a new outfit, my parents do tend to follow definition of Generation X. They don’t fall for the trends and what sales people tell them. They buy clothes based on quality, price and just what they like. Whenever my parents walk into lets say, Kohls, they tend to feel fabric to see if its comfortable and if its durable. They then proceed to look at the price and see if they have a coupon for 15% or 20% off. Myself on the other hand look at magazines to see what the trend is at the time. I also would use certain websites to see what styles mesh well together before I would purchase the clothing I wanted. D) Firms can use their knowledge of generational cohorts to better serve their products by appealing specifically to the different generations. What I mean to say is each
