Class History

8-Honesty. This is where it all began. On the first day of school, we met our “new” classmates. New because over the summer, our batch was shuffled. Thus, placing each of us in separate sections. None of us felt that we had anything in common save for one thing: The overwhelming disappointment of being separated from our classmates from our first year days. Days passed. We slowly began to see that our so-called differences were all in our minds. And as we slowly opened up to each other, we realized that we had more in common than we initially thought. Over time, our class grew closer, along with our advisers, Sir Otep and Ma’am Arianne. We began to call ourselves Otepians in admiration for our enigmatic adviser. But in our hearts, we all knew that we were the (Cats) of the Grade 8. Fierce and strong. We held the name Lynx with pride. Then came the first true test of our integrity as a class. Intramurals. At first, most of us thought that we had the capacity to win it because we felt that we all wanted to win. Then as our practices began, we realized how wrong we were. The months leading up to intramurals were HELL. Not just for us, but for our leaders. Who had to put up with the irresponsibility that was so abundant in the class and the ignorance of the boys towards the importance that intramurals held for the rest of the class. Fights broke out, disagreements occurred, friendships were tested. In short, all hell broke loose. After months of practices or “Torture Sessions” as some of us would call them, Intramurals has finally arrived. Judgement day. The day where we reap the fruits of our labor. Everything we did during the months leading up to this day will finally fall into place. While watching the performances of other classes, we could see how good they were and this planted seeds of doubt into our hearts. Then after the last performance was concluded, the name of our class was called. As we made our way towards the stage, we all had one thought in our minds: This is to do or die. When the music began, we danced our hearts out. We poured all our blood sweat and tears into our performance. But alas, it was not enough. After our performance, it felt like a heavy weight was lifted from our shoulders. And in that moment, while waiting for the announcement of the winners, it felt like a lifetime, and like all lifetimes, it was big disappointment. We were surprised when it was announced that we won first runner up. It was like our world stopped. And all we could think about was the utter disappointment of trying our best and not receiving the reward that we felt we deserved. And to add insult to injury, the winners, were a section that we had a heated rivalry with. As we looked at them, basking in their glory, we swore that we would redeem ourselves.
Months had passed, the school announced that we would have the verse choir competition for Elocution 2013. For our class, this was a chance to avenge ourselves. Thus, practices began once more. But, while preparing for the elocution, we were once again plagued by the very same issues we had to deal with during intramurals. Leaders cried, and voices were raised. Discord was rampant throughout the class. But elocution was right around the corner and failure was not an option.
After weeks of preparation, Elocution was upon us. We felt that we were as ready as ever. But if intramurals has taught us anything, it’s that we must never be complacent. Once again, we were the last to perform.

Grade 9

June. The first day of school, a new school year, and a new chapter for the 8-Honesty Lynx, or as we are now known as, the 9-Obedience Demetrions. Though this year’s first day was a lot more different than last year. This time around, the classroom exuded and amiable and joyful atmosphere, as opposed to the tense atmosphere of yesteryear. Although there was a bit of sadness hanging in the air which is because two members of our family, F and Lucy were unable to join us this year because they transferred to other schools. But it’s not all bad, because we added four new members to our family. The school year started off well, we got to know our new advisers, Ma’am Tyza and Sir Matt and had a good time getting to know our new classmates. But like all school years, the hardships were yet to begin. Back in our grade 8 days, we complained about how grade 8 was so difficult. Now, we take all that back. Grade 9 is so much worse. Grade 9 brings in whole new lessons that have caught many of us off guard. And the workload is a lot heavier as opposed to our grade 7 and grade 8 days. And then there were projects, A LOT of projects. But over time we have adjusted and have gotten used to the heavy workloads that we have to face every day. Months later, the first competition of the school was about to begin. Yes, Intramurals is upon us once more. But this year was going to be different. VERY different. Because this time around, we will be competing against our seniors. And so we took the challenge with the same hunger for victory that we had the year before. Thus, the practices begin again. There were conflicts and everyone was tired to the bone. But we all knew what our goal was and that was to win.
