...Rules of chess Movement Basic moves Each type of chess piece has its own method of movement. A piece moves to a vacant square except when capturing an opponent's piece. Except for any move of the knight and castling, pieces cannot jump over other pieces. A piece is captured (or taken) when an attacking enemy piece replaces it on its square (en passant is the only exception). The captured piece is thereby permanently removed from the game. The king can be put in check but cannot be captured. The king moves exactly one square horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. A special move with the king known as castling is allowed only once per player, per game. A rook moves any number of vacant squares in a horizontal or vertical direction. It also is moved when castling. A bishop moves any number of vacant squares in any diagonal direction. The queen moves any number of vacant squares in a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal direction. A knight moves to the nearest square not on the same rank, file, or diagonal. (This can be thought of as moving two squares horizontally then one square vertically, or moving one square horizontally then two squares vertically—i.e. in an "L" pattern.) The knight is not blocked by other pieces: it jumps to the new location. Pawn have the most complex rules of movement: A pawn moves straight forward one square, if that square is vacant. If it has not yet moved, a pawn also has the option of moving two squares straight forward, provided...

...ARCHERY Sunnah Sport Centre has provides archery skill class since archery is one of the sports that encouraged in Islam. This sport is a sunnah as well. Archery is the art, practice, or skill of propelling arrows with the use of a bow, from Latin arcus. Historically, archery has been used for hunting and combat. A person who participates in archery is typically known as an "archer" or a "bowman", and one who is fond of or an expert at archery can be referred to as a toxophilite There is a quote about archery from Louis Lord Mountbatten which saying that, during the fourth world war, people will use archery instead of nuclear. Besides that, there are a sahih hadith about this sport. The Prophet once passed by some people of the tribe of Bani Aslam who were practicing archery. The Prophet said: “O Bani Isma`il ! Practice archery as your father Isma`il was a great archer. Keep on throwing arrows and I am with Bani so-and-so.” (Bukhari) For archery, we hired eight coaches who are expertise in archery. The community who learn this skill would be divided to four teams. Each team would have two coaches with them and have different locations. We concern about the efficiency in learning this skill, which is the reasons why we divide them to groups. There would be no separation among the learners based on their expertise. They will learn from the most fundamental steps till they will expert. There are schedule for the classes. There are two sessions for a day which is on weekend...

...awed over the beauty of what could she draw on it. She is not like any other kid for she does not settle in crayons and paper like any other kid—she likes to make art. There are a lot of things going on through her mind, from landscapes to portraits although she was only five. She cannot decide what to draw thinking whether or not she could give justice to the thing she would draw. One thing she knows though, the ability to make art is in everyone’s hand. As the years went by, her life which she considers a blank canvas turns into a picture of an art enthusiast longing for more knowledge of art. From the arts class room and outside, art has always been in her mind and she lives art. She joined the AAA Middle School arts club and became the president of the club in seventh grade. In high school, she also joined many art contents and was a participant in a community mural painting. She does not consider herself good though, for she believes that there are a thousand ways to make art and she only knows a few. She considers entering an arts program in a university as a great opportunity for her to learn more about art and to share what she knows to other people as well. For Amy Keller, college is a thing worth waiting for, not just because she’ll be free from her parents but because she will be able to manage and learn to live an independent life. As one of the things she was waiting for, securing a slot for the Arts program is a thing worth her time and effort. Because of Mr...

Crawling usually happens at 8 to 10 months, which he did, but walking usually around 11 to 12 months. He could dance and run at 11 months. Ricky is now 5 years old, he is 30 lbs and 36 inches tall which means that he is in about the 75 percentile in both on the growth chart (National Center for Health Statistics, 2000). According to the Developmental Checklist, Ricky shows all of the physical/motor developmental appropriate skills. Ricky started kicking during the summer when his brother was playing soccer. He can also throw balls short distances. He does things with both hands, but most of the time he shows signs...

...The philosophers tell us that art consists essentially, not in performing a moral act, but in making a thing, a work, in making an object with a view not to the human good of the agent, but to the exigencies and the proper good of the object to be made, and by employing ways of realization predetermined by the nature of the object in question. Art thus appears as something foreign in itself to the sphere of the human good, almost as something inhuman, and whose exigencies nevertheless are absolute: for, needless to say, there are not two ways of making an object well, of realizing well the work one has conceived -- there is but one way, and it must not be missed. The philosophers go on to say that this making activity is principally and above all an intellectual activity. Art is a virtue of the intellect, of the practical intellect, and may be termed the virtue proper to working reason. But then, you will say, if art is nothing other than an intellectual virtue of making, whence comes its dignity and its ascendancy among us? Why does this branch of our activity draw to it so much human sap? Why has one always and in all peoples admired the poet as much as the sage? It may be answered first that to create, to produce something intellectually, to make an object rationally constructed, is something very great in the world: for man this alone is already a way of imitating God. And I am speaking here of art in general, such as the ancients understood it -- in short, of art...

...patterns, and competitiveness. Throughout the documentary, the foreign students define the full experience of cultural shock in several different stages. You start off in the stage where you are infatuated with the culture, people and food. Initially, you are excited for the big move and your mind is full of everything but negative thoughts. You are expecting a fun adventure out of this. Moving on to the second stage in which the students refer it to the “frustration stage,” this was said to have probably been the worst and most stressful stage. The fatigue of not understanding gestures, signs and the language sets in and miscommunications may occur frequently. Feelings of depression of homesickness and feeling of longing to go home where things are familiar and comfortable are all common characteristics during the...

...enjoyable story. This story was about three couples who got together, Mark and Beth, Joe and Sally, and Elaine and Jack and decided to play a little game. The couples were sitting around at Joe and Sally’s house drinking alcohol and passing around joints even though two of the couples had children there. I felt like this added to the story due to the fact it showed their character. It shows that there is still some immaturity amongst them and added to the way they acted later in the story. The game they decided to play was called “Something Awful”; the point of this game was to confess the worst thing you’ve done or the thing you feel worst about and tell the group about it, then at the end they would vote on who they thought did the worst thing. To me this also displays the characters immaturity because I find this to be a juvenile game to play for the age of these people. One thing that stood out to me in Elaine and Jack’s relationship was the way Elaine just held her glass up in the air when she wanted a drink. That would really annoy me if I were Jack. I felt like this showed that Elaine was the more dominant partner in the relationship. I thought that also added to the way Jack was looking at Sally all night due to how he felt about Elaine and her dominating personality. I found Sally to be the most interesting person in this short story. She definitely was instigating drama the entire night and causing fights among the other couples. I had a hard time figuring out if this...

...The work of Tim O’Brien has helped me understand many things about the art of story telling. His thrilling characters and powerful stories really makes the reader get suddenly close to the characters. The character I like the most is Kiowa. In my opinion I think he is the most decent character in this book. He’s caring, thoughtful, respectful, courageous, and even has a sense of humor. For this project I decided to do a movie poster. I drew Kiowa big in the middle to show that he is a very important character in the book that affects each soldier in their own way. I decided that since it was a movie poster you cannot give away his story in the poster. Therefore I decided to draw little details to show how Kiowa is. The first thing you might notice is his hatchet that he is carrying behind his back. Tim O’Brien had said that Kiowa carried his grandfather's hatchet. His grandfather’s hatchet not only shows that he carries a token of his family, but it also shows his native background. As we look downwards, we notice his face. Kiowa was a very optimistic character, he always tried to cheer up characters like Tim O’Brien himself. I drew a smile on his face to show that,...

...8 Ways to Be More Confident: Live the Life of Your Dreams By Lori Deschene “With realization of one’s own potential & self confidence in one’s ability, one can build a better world.” ~Dalai Lama For the vast majority of my life I didn’t believe I could do most of the things I wanted to do. I knew I wanted to be in a relationship, but I feared that if I got into one I’d do something to mess it up. I wanted to perform on Broadway, but even moving to New York City didn’t give me the courage to audition. I wanted to be a writer, but I thought it was far too difficult to get published, and therefore didn’t even try until I turned 27. Maybe you’ve never been as unsure of yourself as I used to be, but you can likely relate to that feeling of wanting to do something but feeling terrified to start[->1]. This not only limits your potential in life; it also minimizes your ability to make a positive impact on the world around you. There’s a lot that goes into overcoming those fears. You may need to challenge limiting beliefs formed years ago, or take yourself out of a situation where other people undermine your abilities. One thing that will definitely help is working on your confidence. Not sure if confidence can be learned? I asked this question[->2] on the Tiny Buddha Facebook page[->3] to see what readers had to say and then used some of their responses to shape these 8 steps outlined below: 1. Tap into the confidence you were born with. I feel it’s something that is always...

...BUSINESS CASE Presented to the Accountancy Department De La Salle University In partial fulfillment Of the course requirements In ACCTBA2 (C33) March 2, 2015 A stakeholder is typically concerned with an organization delivering intended results and meeting its financial objectives. In general, a stakeholder can be one of two types: internal (from within an organization) or external (outside of an organization). The stakeholders in this situation are Lanie Marquez and Tim Rodriguez who are also partners in the retail distribution business and their capital contributions are as follows P500,000 and P300,000 respectively they are an internal stakeholder since they are also the owners. The total Capital of both stakeholders is P800,000 and with a monthly salary for both partners at P15,000 on the assumption that both of them will contribute to manage the business equally. Assuming that both managed the business equally the total salary for the year for Lanie and Tim are P180,000 each. They share profit and loss equally and no interest will be given on capital contributed. The problem for this situation is that Lanie is starting to get concerned with the behavior of her other partner Tim. He only manages the business 50% of the time, which will mean that his salary of P15,000 will need to decrease by also 50% since he does not manage the business equally with his partner. The business has seen a downturn in the profit outcome and for the current financial...

...but the impression of a fairyland would have been forever lost, the glamor of its poetry never felt even in vague suggestions, and the delicate melodies never perceived. As a friend suggested to me when grief was most oppresive: "You shall always remember her as a child." How beautiful I felt it was! For nothing but poetry could give such a feeling. In such a moment, reason would have destroyed me with consummate triumph; for if I had tried to explain why God had snatched away from me the thing I loved best in life, I would have allowed reason to rob me of sorrow to show me the way to a more beautiful, more full, and nearly perfect life. Sonia shall always live in my memory as a child who wonders why the stars shine in the sky and the rain drops from heaven and the grass grows on the wayside; as a child who finds all things pure and true in her innocent eyes. I shall look in those eyes and see so much confidence and faith when I feel that I am losing my own faith and confidence. I shall draw from my memory of her a child's enthusiasm for life when my heart is heavy and my eyes are dim with age. This is my ideal;...
