* Administrative laws establish procedures for issuing and removing peoples driver’s licenses, for registering a vehicle, and for a securing a title, which proves ownership of the motor vehicle. * To drive a vehicle you are required to follow your state’s motor vehicle laws. * Passing a vision test is required to get a license. * States can suspend, or temporarily take away licenses for a specified period of time. * Licenses are usually suspended for 30 to 90 days and always fewer than 365 days. * States also have the power to revoke, or take licenses away. You must then apply for another drivers license. * Point system assigns each driver points for violations. States decide when to suspend or revoke your drivers license based on this. * If a driver who has been suspended continues to get pints, their license can be revoked. * Statues issue a certificate of title when you buy a motor vehicle which proves that you legally own the vehicle. * When purchasing a vehicle, you must also register your vehicle with the state. * Financial responsibly is another aspect of driving. * The Right of way is the right to proceed first. Never assume you that you have the right of way. * 3 situations when you must yield the right of way: * Yield the right of way to an emergency vehicle that has its sirens on and its lights flashing. * Yield the right of way to people who ae blind and are carrying a white cane or using a guide dog. * Yield the right of way to all pedestrians, especially those using crosswalks. * One of the most common causes of fatal collisions is one driver’s failure to yield the right of way to another driver. * All states have basic speed limits that mean you cannot drive at speeds faster or slower than conditions safely permit. * Visibility, time, and space determine the speed as which you can travel safely. * A fixed speed limit is a maximum or minimum speed that a vehicle may be driven on a particular roadway. * An advisory speed limit advises drivers to interrupt their normal driving speed for a limited time. * Some states have lower speed limits at night because night driving is much more dangerous since it is harder to see the road. * The higher the speed: * The less time the driver has to spot dangerous situations and take action. * The greater the time and destines it takes to change direction or stop a vehicle. * the greater the change the vehicle will skid or roll over on a turn. * the greater changes of a collision, personal injuries, and property damage. * Illegal per se law makes it unlawful for a person to oberate a motor behcile with a blood alchohol concentration (BAC) vaboe a certain level. * For driver’s over 21, that level is 0.08 percent in 45 states. * Implied consent laws have been enacted in all states. When reciveinv their licenses, drivers agree that if stopped for a cause and charged with the offense of drinking and driving, they will take a test for the presence of alchohol. * Aggressive driving is a high risk behavior that threatens the safety of others, and its a moving traffic violation. * Examples of aggressive driving include: * Driving at an inappropriate speed (15 to 20 mph above the posted limit) * Tailgating * Failing to stay in the right lane except to pass * Frequent and unsafe lane changes (weaving in and out of traffic) * Passing on the shoulder during heaving traffic. * When reckless driving causes the death of another person, the driver or drivers involved may be charged and convicted of vehicular homicide. * As a young driver, you are more likely to be distracted by other teenage passengers. * The change of crashing increases dramatically as the number of teen passangers increase.
