Driving Age Learning to drive is an important part of learning responsibility and adult values. If we keep delaying when kids can learn to drive then young people will never learn responsibility. This essay will include the three strongest reasons why I think that the driving age should stay at 16 years old and reasons why it could be changed to 17 or 18 years old.
The first reason I believe the age should remain at 16 years old is maturity. Driving at 16 will allow drivers to have more experience behind the wheel. This will help prepare them for adult life, such as dealing with rush hour traffic and driving their kids to school. Some people might argue that this will give kids too much freedom which may lead them to making bad decisions, such as going to parties where there is drinking involved. I believe that this will actually help build trust and security between you and your parents.
The second reason why 16-year-olds should drive is because they can help with family responsibilities. Many families have both parents working or are single-parent families. If 16-year-olds were allowed to drive, they would be able to drive themselves and their siblings to school, work, and activities. They would also be able to help with grocery shopping, picking up dinner, and running other household errands. The argument against this might be that this is too much independence and could lead to poor decision-making as well as putting too much pressure on a teenager to take on adult responsibilities.
Finally, the third reason I believe 16 year olds should be able to drive is so they can get to their job. There are many jobs that are aimed for 16-18 year-olds and if they can not drive themselves to work, those jobs will need to be filled by adults who can drive which will cost more because adults get paid more money. Youth unemployment would become a problem. The argument here would be to use public transportation like busses or riding their bike, but some areas don’t have public transportation or are unsafe for young workers to use.
I think that driving at 16 years old is better because you can drive to school, help out your family with errands and be able to have a job and take on more responsibility. This will let a lot of pressure and hard work off of your parents’ hands.

Essay On Impaired Driving

...People say that talking on a cell phone while driving can be dangerous. Research appears to agree with this. However, to ensure that the research is accurate, the experimental design to test the hypothesis must be set up in a way that eliminates other factors that may be influencing driving, leaving talking on the cell phone the sole culprit of impaired driving. To do this, first we must add in a control condition, in order to have something to compare the drivers talking on the phone to, then we must assign our subjects in a random assortment to be sure all outside biases and factors are eliminated. Finally, we would need to design our experiment on a set obstacle course to ensure the only difference between both conditions is the use of a cell phone....

...In various states across the country, laws are being passed to make the use of handheld cellular devices illegal while driving. There has been much controversy with the enactment of these laws. Some people believe that they should have free will to use their cellular device when and where they want to. Others argue that people on cellphones are liabilities to everyone else on the road. Based on the high number of deaths caused each year by distracted drivers; I believe that cell phone use should be prohibited while in use of a vehicle. If there is any reason to implement a policy like the ones above, it would be to help prevent vehicular manslaughter. Each year, kids, teenagers, and adults get are wounded or die from accidents that involve...

...According to the website NPR, vehicle deaths more common if people are going 40 mph, and less common if they are going 20 mph. Therefore there is an 80% chance of getting in an accident. After hearing that fact, do you think texting while driving should be illegal? My opinion is that it should because more than 11,000 people have died from texting and walking. In the news there was a 14 and 15 year old that got killed for being on there phones. They reduced speed limit around schools and on highways, and other types of streets to try to reduce the amount of accidents. The government reduced the speed limit between 20 and 40 mph.TO try to limit the accidents. They especially did it around schools so that pedestrians can be safer and more careful about how they drive. They especially did it around colleges and high schools since you are just learning how to drive. Since more than 11,000 people died from vehicle accidents the government should had automatically made a law. They should have agreed to make a law before the number even hit 11,000. If there is a message or an important phone call that you need to take you should pull to the side and take it, or wait until you actually get to the destination that you have to go to and then reply. It you do this as a result you can get to the place you have to go to quicker and safer....

...“1 in 5 crashes involves driver distraction, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.” This problem has recently been knocking at our doorsteps to be addressed and in July of 2017 policy makers and governor Greg Abbott did so. Texting and driving has become an epidemic and is extraordinarily dangerous, one cop says that in some cases he has found it difficult to discern between an intoxicated and a distracted driver while on his patrols. This poses a risk for our children, members of society, and to other drivers, as well as yourself. The law itself, the policy and its makers, and the benefits/hardships that accompany enforcing such a law are all necessary to discuss when formulating an opinion. Use of the cell phone is now prohibited after a new law went...
