Curiosity is a common human instinct that has lead to the beginning of many revolutions in the scientific world. As we advance as a population and team up with diverse individuals worldwide, we are able to piece together new information that can help us understand how all the diverse organisms on earth arose. One of the most astonishing populations of organisms that seems to continuously baffle scientists is the Drosophilia fly. This Drosophilia has been said to have branched from one species of fly into over 800 native, diverse species seen in Hawaii alone. These species are said to still be undergoing speciation due to genetic mutations and adaptations that result upon reproduction. A major player in the results of this diversity has been a result of adaptive radiation. Adaptive radiation is defined as a time of…show more content… If they are able to do this, they said to have undergone the founder effect. The founder effect is when some organism emigrates and becomes isolated from its parent population leading to a genetic drift and the creation of a new population with traits that differ from the authentic population. After they become isolated, the isolated organism can reproduce offspring that may have mutated DNA eventually resulting in a many diverse species. Adaptive radiation gives rise to many new species all as a result of DNA because as populations reproduce, they are passing on traits that may be better suited to their environment. The new individual then passes their adaptations to their offspring that may be better suited to new ecological niches different from their ancestors. This continual process is key to all the genetic diversity seen worldwide. Without genetic diversity, adaptive radiation and the founder effect the world would be a pretty boring place full the same species that have only colonized parts of the
