Judgment is a dualistic method of choosing: we judge two in order to choose one. We judge right from wrong in order to choose rightly. We judge one as guilty to establish the innocence of the other. One might think that the guilty are guilty, and that the innocent are innocent, even before we judge it to be so; but right and wrong, guilt and innocence, are the product of judgment. Judgment is a factual approach to thinking: when we judge, we take the facts into consideration. We judge the facts in order to know what to think. We judge facts to determine truth. They have done some sterling service in bringing together the very diverse strands of work that today qualify as constituting the subject of organisational theory. Whilst their writing is accessible and engaging, their approach is scholarly and serious. It is so easy for students (and indeed others who should know better) to trivialize this very problematic and challenging subject. This is not the case with the present book. This is a book that deserves to achieve a wide readership.
