The Duluth lynchings are an example of prejudice cases as black men were wrongfully convicted of the raping of a white woman, similar to Tom Robinson’s case. Lynchings and prejudice did not only occur in the South as at the time of 1920, in Duluth, Minnesota, three circus workers by the names of Elias Clayton, Elmer Jackson, and Isaac McGhie, were wrongfully accused of raping and robbing a teenage white girl. Due to prejudice and preconceived notions, while in pretrial detainment, thousands of angered citizens of Duluth automatically assumed the men were guilty and lynched the innocent men.
