How do you remember Durango City as a good place to live or as an unsafe and poor

place for your family? When the new president of Mexico, Enrique Pena Nieto took the power in

December 2012 it started to make a big difference in the life of all the Mexicans. Some of the

people say that the changes are for the welfare, but some people say that it was better before he

took the power. There are two marked differences before and after Pena Nieto come to power;

One of the most obvious differences is the security. In the past Durango Mexico was one

of the most peaceful and nice places for live. Young people could go out and have fun when

they wanted, they could be on the street at night without worrying about anything. Parents could

leave their children playing in the streets without being afraid that something bad will happen to

them. Most of the families had their own business to earn enough to support the whole family.

However, now Durango Mexico is considered one of the dangerous cities where the young

people are afraid to go out at night because of the severe abduction, murders and assaults.

Parents cannot leave theirs children playing outside od home by themselves because in the two

last year Durango has had problems abducted children for organ trafficking. Most family

businesses have been closed due to fear of the attackers now the persons prefer to be or look

The education is the second differences. Two years ago the education it was gratuitous

that is to say the government it was in charge of pay everything that had to do with schools. The

time of education per day it was five to six hours per day. Even the poorest could still going to

school because the government provided school supplies and took care of the food for these

students. Parents didn't have to worry about paying for school fees. In contrast, now that Pena

Nieto took the power he started a new educational reform where nothing is for free. Parents have

to pay for school fees. The government added two more hours of education per day that is a good

thing because the students have more time for learn and more opportunity for development of

elective classes like sport, art, dance, etc. The government began a good system where now all

the food in the school has to be healthy the problem is the government do not do charge of

paying the food of the students anymore.

In conclusion, it is a big difference in Durango between before and after Pena Nieto took

the power. Some of the presidents come to be blessed for their constituents but others come to be

prejudice. As my point of view Durango it was better before Pena Nieto took the power because

nothing beats live happy and safe.

Personal Narrative: My Trip To Durango, Colorado

...multiple old fashioned hotels and many tacky tourists, my family and I finally arrived in Durango, Colorado. After two everlasting days we were about twenty minutes from our final destination where we were setting up camp. I had never seen anything this majestic. Once we got settled into the RV park, my family and I decided we wanted to take the trolley to town. All the little hometown stores, side by side with variety of old stores to new. We walked around in the 75 degree weather, it wasn’t hot and humid, it was cool and breezy, something Texans weren’t used to. As we headed back towards camp, we realized that Durango isn’t such a small town after all. It has a good majority of people, especially during the summer. Tuesday morning our, second day in Colorado, we were taking a four hour steam engine train ride from Durango to Silverton, a small town in the middle of nowhere. We boarded the open cart train, on a cold chilly day. We rode through the town and started heading towards the Rocky Mountains. Once we reached the mountains, we didn’t realize how far up we already were. Seeing the town with the mountains in the background, while clouds were peaking over the top was a sight to see, but it wasn’t anything close to the view we had once we reached farther down the tracks. We were almost an hour into the ashy train ride, we had been over...

...flows. Since Massey has tax loss carry forwards, the allocation of the $9.5 million manufacturing overhead does not affect taxes, which is usually an important cash flow stream to consider. The four allocation methods create significant differences in the dollars allocated to the two plants. In fact, the Texas and Mexico plants allocations vary by up to $1.9 million, depending on which method is used. Since the lines of business end up paying for these allocated costs through higher full cost-based transfer prices, the choice of allocation method could prove economically important if the lines of business change their prices of heat sinks to final customers based on the transfer prices that result from the four methods. Therefore, before selecting a particular allocation method, the product costs produced under each allocation scheme need to be examined in light of how the product cost impacts the pricing decision of the three lines of business....

The speedmeter read 95 miles per hour. I was terrified, i wanted to make it out to where my dad was heading. My mom explained to me that when he was in the stress center from previous attempts of suicide, he exspressed his thoughts that if he was to ever try again, it would be in the woods where he hunts with a gun. So thats how we knew where exactly we needed to go. On are way we called my grandparents, my aunts and also my uncle because they were closer and we assumed they'd get there before we could. The Navajo

...the largest Native American Tribes in the world. Their culture is made up of very distinct and unique characteristics that have been passed down from generation to generation. They have been taught to adapt to their surroundings and to the land. Each moral, standard, belief and value are what make the Navajo so unique to the Native Americans. In the following, their primary mode of subsistence, kinship system, beliefs, values, and economic organizations will be briefly examined to gain a better knowledge of the Navajo culture. The Navajo culture were originally foragers, traveling across land in search of unsettled land and resources for their tribes. After migrating south from the pacific northwest over 700 years ago, the Navajo settled in Southwest America. They were then introduced to sheep by the Spaniards and soon after been pastoral and started growing small crops and caring for their animals. According to the Gale Encyclopedia of Multicultural American, “A Navajo is “born to” the mother’s clan and “born for” the father’s clan” (Birchfield, 2000). It is said that the Navajo society is matrilineal, meaning that a clan’s identity is derived from the female. In a traditional introduction, the Navajo will first introduce themselves by naming the maternal clan, followed by the paternal clan. Historically, Navajo men were hunters, warriors and community leaders. Their primary roles were to hunt food and bring it back for the women to butcher. They also were the community...

Beautiful and Gracefully Age

...lonely, and traumatizing growing up on the farm. “There was never time to play,” she told me. She believes that her dad had kids merely to work on the farm and not to love. “I felt like a worker and not a daughter.” Sitting in my Aunt Juana’s living room, we were talking about my grandparents’ upcoming 50th anniversary party, and how my dad was stressed trying to organize the party. As Aunt Juana ate a roasted corn she patiently peeled each kernel with her hand, she reminisced about when she was a child and what it was to grow up on the farm. Aunt Juana had to be up by dawn every morning. One of her duties was to feed all the animals they had around the house which included pigs, chickens, sheep and the cows that were kept close by to milk. After all the animals were fed, she then would help her mom milk the cows. Her duty was to hold the baby calf by the rope while my grandma milked the cow and no matter how blistered her hands would get from the thick rope, she knew better than to complain, or worse yet to let go of the rope. Fresh milk for breakfast was a must have, no matter what day it was. My grandpa, a strict perfectionist expected the best in everything; meaning his food had to be fresh at all times. Breakfast practically had to be inhaled so they could get back to work. If my aunt and her siblings didn’t eat fast enough, then they would go without food...

...soccer cleats before I was a one year old. Before I could even walk. We lived in a small house all the way on top of the hill. I don’t remember much of that place since I was too young to remember anything from that time. I just know that it was packed with all of my father’s brothers and sisters lived there. Along with their husbands and wives. I only remember the days from when we moved into the valley. I’ve always looked up to my dad. I remember he used to tell me stories about how back in Mexico they used to cut a hole in the school fence and sneak into the field just to play soccer. All of his stories about adventure always had me entertained, and still do. When I was younger I would want to dress like him and imitate almost all of his acts. From the boots and sombrero he would wear to the flavor of the soda he would choose at McDonalds. He’s always pushed me to go for success. He’s a part-time coach in a way. If it wasn’t for my dad I don’t think I’d have that hunger and strive to move forward with things. My mom is pretty much the opposite of my father. She’s calm and one of the kindest people out there. She’ll never make me do something I wouldn’t want to do. My mom is honestly the base of our family. She’s the kind of person that’ll probably miss a meal just to make sure you had something to eat. My mom constantly sends out money to help out our family in Mexico and she’ll never forget someone’s birthday. My mom’s just thoughtful and respectful before anything else...

The Dine` believes in having a spiritual relationship with their land. The Navajo’s are known as people who are in tune with the spiritual world, and they are spiritual beings. The Navajo wish to live their culture and lives without interference of the Western World government. “We do not like relief and want to make our own living and we know we can do so if we are left alone.”(Lee, 2007). According to Clah Cheschillige, in the 19th century and the first half of the twentieth century, Congress wanted all Native Americans to conform to the western society. (Lee, 2007) Before 1923, the Navajo nation didn’t have a western world government. They were their own people, living in their own Nation. “Nationalism is the devotion to the interest or culture of one’s own nation.”(Lee,2007) It also means to have one’s own independence,...
