Language and gender are both dynamic approaches towards understanding how and why we choose our words. Both approaches have been joined together for the purpose of bringing a new perspective on how societal norms are being directly and indirectly placed on different genders. This action has been recognized and addressed in the books Language and Gender by Mary Talbot and Language and Woman’s Place by Robin Lakoff. In Chapter 3, Talbot addresses the work done by several authors who each expressed their thoughts on how women tend to verbally express themselves differently than men.
