On April 15, 2013 19 year old Dzhokar Tsarnaev and his 26 year old brother Tamerian Tsarnaev set off two pressure cooker bombs within 12 seconds and approximately 210 yards apart near the finish line of the Boston Marathon. The explosions killed 3 civilians and injured an estimated 264 others that day. The bombings were classified as an act of domestic terrorism since both brothers, even though we Chechen born, were US citizens. In the man hunt for both bothers an MIT officer was shot and killed by the pair. The brothers also shot 2 MA police officers (one died a year later from his injuries) and carjacked and kidnapped another civilian. There was a mass of physical evidence against the bothers including remnants of the pressure cooker bombs that were used, shrapnel, bomb making materials in the suspects homes, security camera videos at the sites of the bombings, civilian cell phone pictures and videos, Twitter posts from both brothers form 2/5/13 up until the bombing, a handgun given to Dzhokar from a close friend and a laptop used by Tamerian belonging to his wife. The trail began on Jan. 5, 2015, and on April 8, 2015 the jury after 11.5 hours of deliberation found Dzhokar Tsarnev guilty of all 30 charges against him and then on May 15, 2015 the same jury sentenced Tsarnaev to the death penalty. On May 15th when Tsarnaev is sentenced he addresses the court and admits he is guilty and apologized for his crimes.
