In most courses, you must keep up with the scheduled course work. Courses are instructor led and in most instances, follow the same semester schedule as traditional courses. All specific course information such as how to reach the instructor, what work is expected, and deadlines to turn in assignments and take tests will be found within your course site. four popular methods of eLearning and explain how each method is unique.
Blended Learning
Generally when people use the term blended learning, they are referring to a combination of eLearning and face to face instruction. Blended learning can refer to a single course or an entire educational program. This means that one course can be made up of both face to face instruction in conjunction with some type of online course content. Or, an education or training program might be labeled as blended learning if the courses within that program are comprised of both brick and mortar classroom instruction and virtual courses. An organization may use a blended learning model to deliver instruction to increase flexibility, access, efficiency, and cost savings.
Rapid Learning
The term rapid learning can be a little tricky because it is often heard to describe both a method of creating eLearning courses and a speed at which people are instructed in an eLearning environment. When used in reference to course creation, rapid learning basically means that the course was created using a quick method such as a narrated slide show or Adobe flash file and made available for course participants online. If the term rapid learning is being used to describe the learning pace of a course or program, you can usually assume that the course or program itself is brief in duration and the lessons themselves are very short and to the point. Rapid learning, in both senses, is best suited for course material or subject matter that is in a fairly constant state of evolution thereby requiring the course and material to be frequently updated.
Mobile Learning
Many people mistakenly think that the terms eLearning and mobile learning (also referred to as mLearning) are interchangeable. The term eLearning is most often used when the coursework is delivered via a computer connected to the Internet. Mobile learning describes coursework that is accessed using a device that is more portable than even a laptop, such as a smartphone, tablet, or mp3 player. Course content can be sent to a mobile device in the form of text files, image files, audio files, or even by the mobile device’s communication tools such as phone calls, video calls, or email.
Social Learning
Social learning is considered to be an informal eLearning method, but with the popularity of social media such as Facebook, Twitter, and blogging, it definitely warrants exploration. Social learning is essentially learning that takes place by interacting with other people on some type of social media network. This includes anything from following the Twitter feed or blog of someone considered to be a subject matter expert in a field you are interested in to clicking on a link in your Facebook newsfeed to an informative article. While social learning may not currently be a formalized way of delivering course content, experts say we should not discount social learning for the futu

The American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) defines e-learning as a broad set of applications and processes which include web-based learning, computer-based learning, virtual classrooms, and digital. Much of this is delivered via the Internet, intranets, audio- and videotape, satellite broadcast, interactive TV, and CD-ROM. The definition of e-learning varies depending on the organization and how it is used but basically it is involves electronic means of communication, education, and training. Many terms have been used to define e-learning in the past. Internet plays a major role in contemporary era in many fields that have been in existence for decades, such as traditional education. Their implementation in the educational field resulted in e-learning which is also called distance learning. E-learning can be defined as computer and network enabled transfer of knowledge and skills. It includes all forms of electronically supported learning and teaching. Many people think that this new approach is outstanding and beneficial while those with traditional views believe that distance learning is poor when it comes to the quality of education. E-learning is very beneficial as it provides flexibility to people who are facing work , family and location constraints and improves learners’ effectiveness as it boosts their self confidence and engages them in the teaching learning process. To begin with, e-learning is very beneficial in improving learners’ performance. A study conducted by SRI International for the Department of Education examining 99 cases to compare online and conventional class performance, came out with shocking results. Students taking the course online ranked in the fifty ninth 59th percentile in the performance test while students in the normal classroom scored in the 50th percentile (Lohr, 2009). ...What is eLearning? The teaching and learning methodology is a four-step progressive / recursive design adapted from experiential education theory. Using this methodology, material covered during this training will be systematically presented (Step A), practiced (Step B), assessed (Step C) and reviewed (Step D). Starting at the top of the circle to the right, Step A represents the introduction to new materials such as theory and skills. Progressing to Step B, participants will practice the application of the newly presented materials. Once applied, participants will assess their work in Step C, which will lead to a reflection or review of lessons learned in Step D that will inform and influence the next progressive iteration the learning cycle, beginning with Step A. A full progression of this methodology will be attempted each day of the training event. For example, the first day of this training will focus on the fundamentals of eLearning, where materials will be presented during the initial part of the day (Step A) and learning activities centered on the application of these materials will be conducted during the latter part (Step B). E-Learning vs Traditional Learning

...ELearning VS Traditional Learning Rashonda Ocain COM 170 June 23, 2014 Professor Olson E-learning VS Traditional Learning Many Americans consider continuing their education every day, but do not know whether online or traditional education is the best fit. As technology progresses significantly, it has bearings on every area of life, even on the way of learning. Today’s way of living now gives students the option to not only attend school/class in a traditional classroom, but to also attend virtually. Therefore, if a student works full time and wants to attend school – he now has the option to attend online. Despite sharing some apparent similarities, the differences between traditional and online learning environments are extraordinary. Traditional and E-learning are suitable learning environments that have different executions in (a) scheduling and participation, (b) student/teacher relationships, and (c) assignments and test. The first distinctions between traditional learning and e-learning are scheduling and participation. Traditional classroom settings require a fixed environment, which reduces the amount of students that can learn at the same time. However, an online class allows thousands/millions of students to take the same course at one time. Moreover, traditional classes are not flexible. Traditional classrooms require that students and teachers show up for classes at a certain time, while online classrooms can be assessed anytime during the day. Therefore...

Learning motivation is then of importance in the design of e-learning practices in workplace. However, empirical study of the alignment of e-learning with individual learning needs and organisational goals is an area with limited research. This study intends to clarify the importance of learning motivation in employees’ e-learning systems use behaviour, based on the information systems success model. Data from one hundred and eighty-five employees who used e-learning systems in their work environment were gathered in Taiwan and analysed with PLS. Results showed that employees’ learning motivation, reflecting their learning needs and strengths, influenced perceived usefulness and satisfaction with e-learning, and their use of the systems, which enhanced their task performance. The results validated the importance of employees’ learning motivation and the need for alignment of employees’ learning needs and organisational goals in e-learning training. The clarification can help facilitate an organisation’s human capital management, and contributes to further advancement of...
