How To Remove The Dog's Ear Mites
By Jerry Welsh
Oct 29, 2010
Ear mites are one of the parasites that plague dogs. Ear mites are barely visible but these minute organisms are highly contagious. These harmless looking small white dots can cause extreme discomfort to dogs and cats. Picture the discomfort you will feel if thousands of tiny critters are scampering inside your ears - this is exactly what dogs infested with ear mites feel.

Ear mite infestation can easily spread as these parasites can be transmitted by an infested pet to another through physical contact. A pet owner has to employ measures to eradicate the ear mites at once if one pet is infested lest the infestation will spread to other pets of the family. Ear mites are barely visible by the naked eye thus a pet owner not accustomed to grooming the pet would not be aware of the infestation until the pet is severely affected. …show more content…
It is possible that the bizarre behavior of the pet is due to the ear mites on its ear canal that is causing extreme discomfort. Severe infestation that causes the ear to be plugged with ear mites will result to a dog that cannot walk a straight line as commonly the pet's sense of balance is impaired. Dogs infested with ear mites can have seizures. Raw bleeding skin that results if the ear mite infested dog would continuously scratch the ear can develop bacterial infection. A dog can loss its sense of hearing if the ear drum is ruptured because the infection was not given appropriate

Case Study

... * Premature plant death is common and can occur quickly and yield losses can be as high as 15-20%. * Genetic resistance to red root rot is uncommon and breeding for disease resistance is difficult. Management Management options are limited.  Crop rotation with a non-host such as soybean can provide some control.1 Genetic resistance has been difficult to incorporate into corn products, although the rate of disease development varies greatly between corn products. Research on inheritance of disease resistance indicates that it is a polygenic trait with additive gene action, which has complicated breeding efforts.1 Environmental stress during the season may contribute to disease infection and severity. Sap Beetles in Corn Sap beetles are considered minor pests of corn. Adults prefer to feed on corn kernels, ear tips, and stalks that have previously been injured by other insects such as corn earworm or corn borer larvae. Controlling corn ear pests should prevent sap beetles from becoming a problem. Damage Sap beetles are...

...CHAPTER 2 This chapter includes the review of related literature, review of related studies and review of other related Computer Assisted Instruction (CAI) which helped the researchers in designing and developing their own CAI that was used in this research. REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE The review includes discussion of technical terms like Computer-Assisted Instruction (CAI), multimedia, and review of software packages in mathematics, studies on development, evaluation and validation of CAI materials. Instruction and Learning Instruction is the arrangement of information and environment to facilitate learning. By environment, we mean not only where instruction takes place but also the methods, media and equipment needed to convey information and guide the learner’s study. Information and environment can be arranged on a continuum from very formal to very informal. The relationship between information and environment can change depending on the instructional goal. The arrangement of information and the environment is normally the responsibility of the instructor and the designers of media. The choice of the strategy of instruction determines the environment (the methods, media, equipment and facilities) and how the information is assembled and used. The method can range from teacher control to learner control. Learning is the development of new knowledge, skills, or attitudes when the individual interacts with information and environment. Learning takes place...

Concept of Pest

...THE CONCEPT OF PEST A pest can be defined as any organism which injures man, his property, or his environment, or which just causes him annoyance. Such organisms include principally certain insects, nematodes, fungi, weeds, birds and rodents, or any other terrestrial or aquatic plant or animal life, or virus, bacteria, etc. In agriculture, concern is normally expressed when the damage done to a crop by a specific crop pest or a group of pests causes a loss in yield or quality because this would mean a reduction in profit. When a loss in yield reaches certain proportions, the pest can be designated an economic pest. According to Edward and Heath (1964), the pest status is reached when there is a 5 percent loss in yield in a particular crop. In pest management, the economic appraisal of the pest status and justification of the need to embark on control measures is defined in relation to the following concepts: economic damage, economic injury level and economic threshold. Economic damage can be defined as the amount of injury done to a crop that will justify the cost of artificial control measures. Economic injury level is the lowest pest population density that can cause economic damage, which will vary from crop to crop, season to season, and area to area. For practical purposes, there is an economic threshold defined by Stern et al. (1959) as the pest population density at which control measures should be initiated or started to prevent an ever increasing pest population from...

Household Dog

...The domestic dog (Canis lupus familiaris)[2][3] is a subspecies of the gray wolf (Canis lupus), a member of the Canidae family of the mammalian order Carnivora. The term "domestic dog" is generally used for both domesticated and feral varieties. The dog was the first domesticated animal[4] and has been the most widely kept working, hunting, and pet animal in human history. The word "dog" can also refer to the male of a canine species,[5] as opposed to the word "bitch" which refers to the female of the species. MtDNA evidence shows an evolutionary split between the modern dog's lineage and the modern wolf's lineage around 100,000 years ago but, as of 2013, the oldest fossil specimens genetically linked to the modern dog's lineage date to approximately 33,000–36,000 years ago.[4][6] Dogs' value to early human hunter-gatherers led to them quickly becoming ubiquitous across world cultures. Dogs perform many roles for people, such as hunting, herding, pulling loads, protection, assisting police and military, companionship, and, more recently, aiding handicapped individuals. This impact on human society has given them the nickname "man's best friend" in the Western world. In some cultures, however, dogs are also a source of meat.[7][8] In 2001, there were estimated to be 400 million dogs in the world.[9] Most breeds of dogs are at most a few hundred years old, having been artificially selected for particular morphologies and behaviors by people for specific functional roles. Through...

Agriculture

...National Agricultural Scenario | | India’s economic security continues to be predicated upon the agriculture sector, and the situation is not likely to change in the foreseeable future. Even now, agriculture supports 58% of the population, as against about 75% at the time of independence. In the same period, the contribution of agriculture and allied sector to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has fallen from 61 to 19%. As of today, India supports 16.8% of world’s population on 4.2% of worlds water resources and 2.3% of global land. And per caput availability of resources is about 4 to 6 times less as compared to world average. This will decrease further due to increasing demographic pressure and consequent diversion of the land for non-agricultural uses. Around 51% of India’s geographical area is already under cultivation as compared to 11% of the world average. The present cropping intensity of 136% has registered an increase of only 25% since independence. Further, rain fed dry lands constitute 65% of the total net sown area. There is also an unprecedented degradation of land (107 million ha) and groundwater resource, and also fall in the rate of growth of total factor productivity. This deceleration needs to be arrested and agricultural productivity has to be doubled to meet growing demands of the population by 2050. Efficiency-mediated improvement in productivity is the most viable option to raise production. The country recorded impressive achievements in agriculture...
