Became the first woman to fly across the Atlantic alone
Earhart departed from Newfoundland and headed for Paris, France. She flew in her Lockheed Vega and the flight took 15 hours and 18 minutes. She overcame many obstacles during her flight such as weather, turbulence, and altimeter malfunction.

Became the first woman to fly from coast-to-coast solo
Earhart started in Los Angeles, California and ended in Newark, New Jersey. The flight in a Lockheed Vega took 19 hours and 5 minutes. In 1933, she flew the same route, but the flight only took 17 hours and 7 minutes.
