History Essay There have been many inventions that have changed the world. Many of these revolutionary inventions come from America. Today we have the luxury to many of these inventions. Bandaids and other medical remedies were not available back then so easily. These new inventions in America are created by great people. One of these people is named Earle Dickson who invented the famous band aid known today. Through the weirdness of a situation with his wife he came up with the unique idea to make lives across the world easier. Earle Dickson was a genius and would persist through the challenges to create what is known across the world today. What Earle Dickson invented back in the 1920’s would change the way people care for wounds forever.

Earle Dickson was born on October 10, 1892 in Grandview Tennessee, the son of Richard Ensign Dickson who was a physician and Mary Augusta Hester. He attended Yale University and graduated 1913 then got married to Josephine knight in 1917. How he found out the great idea of band aid was through his wife. Band Aids today have sold over 100 billion bandaids that are sold worldwide. In the beginning Band Aids products only made about $3,000 in the first year. Band Aids in 1920 costed about $7.50 but, there is no record of how many band aids were sold the first year. However , if we divide the price to the amount made then the amount of band Aids sold were around 400. Now the company itself made over 100 billion Band Aids worldwide wide and has made billions of dollars. Another economic impact is that band Aids advertises other kid franchises. An example of this is that in 1951 band aids were produced to have Mickey mouse on them to help advertise the Disneyland franchise.
