EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Eaton Pharmaceutical has decided to buy new vehicles for their sales teams. The company feels by going green in the near future will save them money in the long run. This can help lower the emission of CO2 by going green.

Research was conducted in two ways: (1) A survey was conducted to the company’s four hundred employees, and (2) information about implementing a volunteer program was obtained from reputable websites.

The report addressed the following questions: (1) what is the best vehicle for going green? (2) How does going green benefit the company? (3) Is it really worth going green? (4) How would employees react to going green?

The research conducted that all parties involved in the volunteer program will benefit from it. Volunteer programs are a great way to increase a company’s public image while satisfying the community’s needs, as long as the company and the nonprofit share the same objectives. Some steps should be followed in order to successfully implement the program. Employees should be asked about their views on whether an employee-volunteer program would be beneficial for them.

EXAMINATION OF AN EMPLOYEE-VOLUNTEER PROGRAM Introduction

Employee volunteering refers to employees who engage in volunteering activities on their own free time for their community through their workplace. Employees can be a source of volunteer strength for any community, whether they come from a small local business or a big corporation. Businesses encourage these activities because they benefit everyone involved, not just the community. Studies have shown that employee-volunteer programs not only benefit the community; they are also advantageous for the employees, the employer, and the business itself. Communities admire businesses that care about their people, and businesses try their best to satisfy their community. There are a few steps that have to be followed in order to successfully implement an employee-volunteer program. Goal of the Study The goal of the study was to choose whether to implement going green at Eaton Pharmaceutical. The following questions were the main topics for our research: 1. How would employees react to going green? 2. Is it really worth going green? 3. How does going green benefit the company? 4. What is the best vehicle for going green?
Methods and Procedures Used The report was written using primary and secondary research. As a primary research, data and more information about the topic were obtained from respectable websites. Employees Reaction to Going Green Employees feel that by going green, the company will save money and eventually be able to give raises. Employees also feel that going green is good because they have a part in helping the environment by reducing CO2 emissions.

Why should the company go green? There are many reasons for a company going green now-a- days. A company run by the people means employee and customers. Now-a-days, social awareness are becoming more important issue in the life. It is affecting on the business world. If we look at the business world, lots of companies are actively doing the social development which is helping them to improve their market share, product development, recognition positively to the customers. Benefits to Going Green Research describes that there are at least 7 cars that can get up to 30 MPG and cost less than $20,000. (The Daily Green) Advantages to the business of having a fuel efficient car verses the others: * Better gas mileage * Contributes to cleaner air * Fewer fuel stops * Insurance discounts * Cheaper vehicle repair * More savings The most important advantage of having a fuel efficient car is that they contribute to cleaner air. The more people or companies who begin to use fuel efficient or “green vehicles” will help create a cleaner and more enjoyable environment for everyone.

Benefits to the Company According to The Green Car Website, more companies are turning to green company cars to help with the rising motoring costs. Benefits to the company by going green would include: * Will save the company as a whole more money * Company’s employees will be happier * This will make the companies look better to their community because they are helping the environment Companies that go green will benefit as a whole by saving more money. The companies employees with also be happier and more enjoyable. The community will benefit from the company going green because there will consequently be less CO2 emissions in the air with their new “green” vehicles.
Benefits to the Employees Even though employees are the ones doing the work, they can also benefit greatly from the employee-volunteer programs. While working for the community, employees gain networking opportunities. Benefits to the employees include: * Leadership skills development * Increased networking * Sense of fulfillment by contributing to the community * Learning new skills for a successful future career Employees’ greatest benefit would be the skills learned while helping others. These skills, including communication skills, time management, and teamwork, would enable them to develop a prosperous career with future new employers.

Summary, Conclusions, and Recommendations

The use of primary and secondary research has led to an examination of a possible implementation of an Employee-Volunteer program at Eaton Construction.

Summary
An employee-volunteer program benefits all the parties involved. The creation of a strong public image and the increase in employee-employer communication are ultimately some of the benefits for the company. Citizens of the community benefit by getting access to more programs and services and by creating a healthier community life. Employees benefit from the program by developing new skills and meeting new people.

Certain steps should be followed in order to successfully implement a volunteer program. Employees and employers should work together when following these steps. The employees’ opinions are also important in the process. The company should be aware of the employees’ attitudes toward the program and whether implementing a volunteer program would be accepted by most of them. Employees’ views should be taken into account when putting into practice the program. Their ideas are as important as the community’s needs.

Conclusions
Base on the findings of the research, the following conclusions were drawn: 1. Volunteer programs can be an advantagious way to increase a company’s public image while satisfying the community’s needs. 2. Employee-volunteer programs can be efficient as long there is a shared vision and mutual objectives between the business, the employees and the nonprofit organization. 3. Most of the employees at Eaton Construction believe that an employee-volunteer program would suit perfectly with the company’s mission.

Recommendations
Eaton Construction should initiate an Employee-Volunteer program that includes the following characteristics: 1. A research should be undertaken to decide which nonprofit organizations fit the best with our specifications. 2. Employees should be asked more questions about their concerns and ideas about how to implement the program. 3. The company, employees, and the nonprofit organization should work together and each provide their available resources needed for the program.

Employee-volunteer programs are a substantial approach for businesses to show their concerns about the community around them. The prime challenge for Eaton Construction is to develop an effective program that shares the same goals between the company and the public.

After much research, I discovered, although I loved sales, it was important to me to know I was making a difference in daily people’s lives. This caused me to choose to pursue a career in DME.
