...tionOption 3: Revising and Editing Steps in the Writing Process As the writer I have to make sure that my essay conveys the main point. I also need to make sure that my essay is well developed, unified and organized. And I need to also make sure that all my sentences cohere together. I should also make sure that my topic sentence is conveying my paragraphs controlling idea. Most importantly as the write I need to make sure that my paragraphs include specific ideas and enough of them to support my topic sentence. I need to also make sure that all my sentences have unity that also supports my topic sentence. And it needs to be organized logically. Overall I need to make sure all my sentences flow smoothly and logically from one to another. I need to also check for grammar, punctuation, mechanics, spelling and word choices are used correctly. I think all the feedback I received was very useful especially the feedback from the peer review such as the introduction did not grab her attention which is not good because if that does not catch my reader’s attention then my essay will not get read in its entirety. Also she said some of the information did not fit the main topic which means I need to go back and re edit and I can either do more research and add or subtract some of the information to make it flow better and give a clear understanding of what I am trying to get across. And I totally agree with her about adding more details or examples in the first paragraph. And some...

Editing in Film

...-Orson Welles: “For my vision of the cinema, editing is not simply one aspect. It is THE aspect.” -Craft of editing: The ability to join shots and produce a meaning that doesn’t exist in either one of them individually -Editing is both stylistic and technical, and contains 2 parts: 1. Editor takes the footage that was shot by the cinematographer and director, then arranges and assembles these components into the movie’s final visual form 2. Sound tracks are all mixed into the master sound track and then the sound track is matched with the visual images Cutting/Splicing: The joining together of two shots. -Basic building block of film editing is the cut -Each shot has two explicit values. First value (director/producer/cinematographer’s responsibility) is determined by what’s within the shot, and second value (product of editing!) is determined by how the shot is situated in relation to other shots -Lev Kuleshov showed power of editing by having emotionless actor appearing after 3 different shots: dead woman, child, and dish of soap -The majority of the film editor’s work occurs after the director and cinematographer have shot all of the movie’s footage. During preproduction and production, the editor may make suggestions for composition, blocking, lighting, and shooting -Editor’s responsibilities: 1. Special relationships between shots -Creation of space in which the characters are moving -Editing paints a mental picture of the space of a scene...

Editing in Movies

...For editing I choose the movie The Baptism Murders- the Godfather where in this particular film “editing can shorten scenes that were shot, tighten them to pick the pace and increase dramatic tension, and lengthen scenes, stretching out reactions longer than were originally delivered by the actors” (Gokoontz, Jacobs, 2014). The scene begins after the passing of Don Corleone. Shortly after the funeral, the baptism continues where cross-cutting from one or more than one of the other performances all representing each other simultaneously. This may help in keeping the film in a more logical order while shortening the scenes in cross-cutting. Don Corleone passed away because of natural causes, it becomes obvious that the Barzinia family wants the power of the Corleone’s …though this scene cross cuts to show who is really in charge. The scene is called “Baptism and Murder” because while at the same time that Corleone’s enemies are killed during the Baptism of his nephew, after the funeral, the editors persist that the Baptism scene continue to show who the leader in charge of the family is. The camera remains still on the close up on the emotional importance precisely towards the baby or Michael, the Godfather. Panning the close shots inside and outside of the church. The author’s goal is to expose the complicated circumstance in the characters using cross-cutting joining the scenes that relate to many other missions. For cinematography I choose The Long Take: Goodfellas where this...

Editing Techniques In 2001 A Space Odyssey

...A director’s job is a crucial one: to tell a story that will captivate an audience while conveying a message. If a movie is directed effectively, the audience will receive a message while being simultaneously entertained. There are many techniques used by directors for this goal to be accomplished, one of the most important techniques being editing. Through editing techniques, a director can present information in many different ways, controlling when and how the audience receives the information. In one of the most iconic films in history, 2001: A space Odyssey, director Stanley Kubrick uses editing as a tool to complete a task and convey a message, much like the Apes do with bones at the beginning of his film. Many religious themes can be...

Image Editing Tools for Web Development and Design

...Image Editing Tools for Web Design and Development Kaplan University Professor Hedgepeth August 24, 2013 Image editing involves methods of altering images, to both digital photographs and traditional photographs. Applications used to create interactive Web graphics are the primary tools designers use to alter images. Many image editing programs are also used to render or create computer art from scratch. Designers must consider the important elements of a digital tool when trying to choose one for a specific purpose. One of the requirements for many of the tools designers use is having a procedure to allow the user to select part(s) of an image, and applying a change without affecting the rest of the image. Most graphics applications have several methods of accomplishing this; a marquee tool selects rectangular areas, a lasso tool enables a freehand trace of an area, and a magic wand tool selects objects or areas in the image by the closeness of its color or luminance. These are in addition to “more advanced abilities such as edge detection, masking, alpha compositing, and color and channel-based extraction” (Arms & Fleischhauer, 2003). Animating the border of a selected area in an image helps the user to differentiate the border from the image background. Layers are another feature designers should consider when choosing an image editor, and fortunately, they are common to many graphics applications. Layers are stacked on top of each other, but each layer is capable...

...#4 editing Compare the editing of George Lucas in Love to that of Sherlock Jr. do the shots in each text cooperate? Collide? How does each film shape your sense of time and space through editing? Genom Editing

...Accuracy in Genome Editing A few years ago science only had the ability to imagine genome editing and all the benefits it could bring to society, however it is now in the works of becoming non-fiction as research has significantly improved. Certain proteins in the body such as Cas9 and CRISPR are responsible for the human genetics and the creation of the immune system. The ability to edit these proteins and change their make up can benefit people with many serious present and future health risks. When speaking on the topic of genetically engineering the human body many challenges arise such as, improving the specificity of the proteins at the rate at which genome-editing proteins modify the target DNA sequence. However, this huge challenge that science has yet to overcome is slowly being resolved by Chemistry Professor David Liu. Liu and his team have recently used a drug like molecule to create an engineered form of Cas9. Since this development the team is able to control the production of active Cas6 and modify targets in the human genome. "We showed it's possible to achieve efficient genome editing using this system, but because you can stop the production of active Cas9 by withholding the small molecule once it's had enough time to modify the target genes, you limit the opportunity for off-target genome modification." This discovery has raised many question and given science a huge step towards success. In order to increase the specific genome editing proteins, the proteins...

Data preparation is the first part of the process of transforming data into useful knowledge. This process involves several steps: (1) data validation, (2) editing and coding, (3) data entry, (4) error detection, and (5) data tabulation. Data analysis follows data preparation and facilitates proper interpretation of the findings. Validation, editing, and coding of survey data. Data validation attempts to determine whether surveys, interviews, or observations were conducted correctly and are free from fraud. In recontacting selected respondents, the researcher asks whether the interview (1) was falsified, (2) was conducted with a qualified respondent, (3) took place in the proper procedural setting, (4) was completed correctly and accurately, and (5) was accomplished in a courteous manner. The editing process involves scanning of interviews or questionnaire responses to determine whether the proper questions were asked, the answers were recorded according to the instructions given, and the screening questions were executed properly, as well as whether open-ended questions were recorded accurately. Once edited, the questionnaires are coded by assigning numerical values to all responses. Coding is the process...
