...Why college education is important to me By Coleman Rickels College education is essential to me for my advancement in my career field. It is nessesary for me to aquire a degree in my field to recieve a promotion into a managment position. I have chosen construction managment because I am currently employed in the construstion field as a laborer and would like to advance in that career and become a manager in the same field. I love construction, I enjoy getting up early in the morning and meeting my crew at our yard. I enjoy the ride to the job site with the people I will be spending my day with. I like conversing with them and learning more about them every day. I enjoy getting to the jobsite, warming up the equipment, and gathering all the tools we will need to complete the days tasks. I enjoy working throughout the day and working with each other to achieve the set goals for the day. I enjoy coming upon a problem and having to put our minds together to overcome it and resume work. I believe aquiring this degree will open up a new side of the construction field for me. I would like to move into a management position and find new things about the construction field I enjoy doing. As John F. Kenedy said; “Let us think of Education as the means of developing our greatest abilities, because in each of us there is a private hope and dream which, fulfilled, can be translated into benefit for everyone and the greater strength of our nation”. I believe that earning this degree...

...Education. In its general sense, It is a form of learning in which the knowledge, skills, and habits of a certain person can be enhanced and can be transferred from one generation to another through teaching, training or research. Education is essential for everyone. My parents always remind me that it is a treasure that cannot be stolen and it can bring us to the top of our dreams. If a seed in a soil, received enough sunlight, air or water, it can become a tree that bear fruits and supply oxygen that is very significant to a human life. This seed can be compare to a person, if he/she is educated, his/her skills and knowledge can be developed or enhanced. And as we all know, education has always a positive effect on human life, it can help us achieve something we want in our life and it cannot just help one’s life but also the society in many ways. For me Education can be acquire in many different ways, and one of it is learning in a school, an institute or place for educating people. Learning in a four corner room has been very essential in one’s life, in fact , everything in this present day is based on the knowledge we had by the help of Education. Education is an element for the civilization of human society. I cannot even imagine life without it. Education doesn’t only help us achieve our dreams, but it also generates an advance community, and that is one of many reasons why Education is very important and why people or let me say, Government wants to develop the system...

...“Why College Education is Important to Me” A college education is a great investment for anyone’s life and, as some say, “is not something that you should choose to have but something that shall be essential to your success”. In my case, a college education means much more than just being successful. As a proud mother of three, I always strive to be a role model for my children. It’s not always easy and, a lot of times, I make mistakes. By pursuing a college education, it teaches my children that, regardless of being an adult, people are still able to learn new things and change. Watching me juggle family and study times teaches them how to prioritize things in life and how to better manage time. It encourages them not to give up after the first try, but to keep moving towards achieving their dreams, even if it means facing some failures along the way. As supervisor of the financial department at my workplace, I put a lot of pressure on my own personal work performance. Pursuing a higher college education gives me the self-confidence and guidance I need to achieve my professional goals. By understanding and utilizing business strategies learned in college, it allows me to be a better leader to my staff and a greater asset to my employer. A church life has always being an important part of my daily life. Pursuing a college education has helped me to be a better part of my community. Going through college helps me to have an open mind, to listen, and to understand...

...relatively new to the whole on-line learning process, and I can say unequivocally that on-line learning is very different in its presentation and in how the learner must participate. A great lot of responsibility is placed upon the learner, and communication is essential between the student and the instructor. It is essential that the student keep up with the syllabus, and use it as a daily guide to the course in order to make sure that all assignments and expectations are being met. During this semester, many of our readings spoke to me on both a personal and professional level. As I have stated before, I have taught special education since 1998. This is an area of education that is very close to my heart. Over the years, I have been able to work with many students who had similar stories to the students that were represented in our case studies and course readings. I have felt the frustration of being a new teacher, with little to no information about a student with special needs coming into my class. In Case Study #32, Mr. Roberts was frustrated that his new student, Cory, was coming to his class without him having access to essential information about Cory. Mr. Roberts was dealing with issues that we are special education teachers deal with on a routine basis. Even in the best circumstances, it is difficult to always have a proper “heads up” about a new student with special needs coming into your classroom. As I read Case Study #32, I felt that Mr. Roberts at the very least had...

...ED 250 REFLECTIONS 1 The Need for Teacher Education . The week two lectures had highlighted an important issue which has come under a lot of criticisms for the past years. This was the need for teacher education. Although many critics still feel that teacher education is a waste of time or that field experience is more important. Most do not realize that the need of teacher’s professional development is essential for the improvement of education all over the world and thus the expectancy for quality teacher education is becoming higher every day. First off, there are countless criticisms to the need for teacher education. However the two that I will focus on are firstly, the critic that teachers are “born and not made.” I feel that in order to be become a good teacher , you must learn the skills, knowledge as well get the experience to achieve the goal of being or becoming a good teacher. I do not agree with the statement that teachers are born ; for they are made. Teacher education is thus based on the theory that teachers are made and not born in contrary to the assumption that they are born. Since teaching is considered an art and a science, the teacher has to acquire not only the knowledge but also the skills or the ‘tricks of the trade’. In addition to this, another criticism is that knowing my subject content is sufficient. This I disagree with, because it definitely will not prepare you for the classroom and the school environment. I believe that educating children...

...P1: Explain key influence on the personal learning process of individuals For an individual there are positive and negative influences that can effect there learning. On a professional approach, many psychologists believe that learning takes place via different processes in which recall has to take place in order to remember. Recall can be affected by different influences; these can weaken memory or strength the memory trace of information. There are different theories that can show the different types of learners; David kolb and Honey and Mumford. David kolb’s theory (1984) is an explanation in how adults learn. The many ways in which people learn are called the cognitive ability. During adolescence and adulthood we develop a performance for instinctive preferences. This is the way in which we make sense of our experiences. He proposed that learning takes place in four stages: concrete experience, reflective observation, abstract conceptualisation and active experimentation. The first stage is concrete experience, this is the doing stage. The individual has to physically carry out actions in order to remember. The second stage is reflective stage this is where they concentrate and review the information. This involves mental thought about what they have completed and the actions that took place in the concrete stage. The third stage is the concluding stage, in which you begin to make sense of the actions in your head. The last stage is the active experimentation, is the planning...

...Essential Skills Reflection Name Institution Essential Skills Reflection For a nurse, higher education at the University of West London (UWL) has offered me a broader knowledge base that I will be able to apply to improve nursing care outcomes concerning patient care, quality standards, and other nursing skills. In this respect, graduating from a nursing program will offer me the opportunity to be a better healthcare practitioner and work within teams for the best outcomes. In fact, the higher education knowledge base that I will acquire upon graduation will make me more attractive to employers. In this case, employers will trust me with more responsibilities since I will know more about the patients’ overall conditions, work independently with minimal supervision, actively engage teams, and even make leadership decisions with regards to the direction that the care plan will take (Oermann 2015). As a result, the higher education program for nurses will make me more attractive to employers and enable me to get jobs with more responsibilities, work independently with minimal supervision, work within teams, and occupy leadership positions that come with the duty of decision-making. I have embarked on many endeavours in my life, but I believe that attending higher education at UWL has been the most rewarding as well as challenging mission. Not only have I gained valuable academic knowledge, but I have also learnt communication skills and how to apply them for the best outcomes in...

...Philosophy of Education As a high schooler, I can remember numerous times asking my literature and writing teacher “Why do I need to learn this?” She would just laugh and tell me again that in the future I would need good, efficient writing skills. She was right. She was lecturing and educating me on proper nouns and sentence structure. Sometimes I would say, “This is so boring!” but today I realize she was preparing me for the future. I believe that my philosophy of education is a mix of essentialism and progressivism. Students need the basic skills of reading, writing, and arithmetic and should be tested on these essential skills but I think that they learn best in a progressive environment where learning these skills are through problem solving and guided discovery. In my hypothetical American History class, I want students to not just methodically memorize material but to question why certain events happened and how they may have shaped today’s society? How did the past influence the future? Rather than just reading material and lecturing on it, I want students to apply the material to their everyday lives. One way would be assigning small groups a certain time period in American History and giving them a list of questions that they would have to search for the answers. Then they would be required to present their findings to the class where a question and answer session would be available afterward. Engaging students in learning essential skills would be my focus....

...college education important to me? Some people say college isn’t for me, or college is just a waste of time, but in the day and age we live in I believe it is essential for a multiple of reasons. A College education is important to me because of financial success and stability, the opportunities and doors that it opens, and the self improvement that you gain on the journey. Now I firmly believe that money isn’t happiness, but it does get you one step closer to that goal. In order to have financial success in life, you need to work hard and always give 110%. That’s not to say you can’t have that stability in life without college education but, I think you would have a better grasp on how to manage finances with that under your belt. Leonard Boswell once said “The American Dream is one of success, home ownership, college education for one’s children, and have a secure job to provide these and other goals”, and to exceed that “American dream” you go to college, you put in the effort and you come out with that success in your grasp, and that is important to me. Going to college doesn’t just open a door to unlimited learning; it opens a gateway to thousands of incredible opportunities. A college education opens up the door for a lesser chance of you not getting a good job. Having a college degree tells potential work places that you are determined and serious-minded about your future, which can reward you with the triumph of a great job. Also by having a good education, you are...

...goodbye and move forward. When I started this class it reminds me of taking statistic as a requirement in obtaining my BSN and was upset because I thought there was no correlation between the two, by the end of the course I found it was a necessity. I have similar experience with Nursing NR 500 Foundational Concepts and Application. I was upset and thought this is another money making scheme but at the end of this class my perception has completely changed and came to the conclusion that NR500 should be included in Master’s curriculum. Master’s nursing education, as is all nursing education, is evolving to meet these needs and to prepare nurses to assume increasing accountabilities, responsibilities and leadership positions. According to AACN (2011), The Essentials of Master’s Education in Nursing reflect the profession’s continuing call for imagination, transformative thinking, and evolutionary change in graduate education. The extraordinary explosion of knowledge, expanding technologies, Increasing diversity, and global health challenges produce a dynamic environment for nursing and amplify nursing’s critical action within complex, changing systems, including health, educational and organizational systems. These Essentials are core for all master’s program in nursing and proving the curricular elements and framework, regardless of focus, major, or intended practice setting.
