...Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) also being known as corporate conscience is a continuing commitment by a business to the society. A business behaves ethically and contributes to the economic development as well as improves the standard of living of the employees and their families in the local community and society. Corporate Social Responsibility also can be defined as areas of concern and initiatives to improve the relations of people and environment (Simply, 2008). Example of company that had put a lot of effort in CSR activities are The Body Shop, Starbucks, Walt Disney and so on. CSR activities can be categorized into a few types of groups such as environment, philanthropy and ethical labor practices. Each type of the group focuses on different matter. However, no matter what type of CSR activity is being launched, all these companies had the same ultimate goal which is to bring the benefits to the society. In this 21st century, the society is very concerned about the condition of the earth because it is where we live. We can often hear from people about global warming, melting ice berg in the North and South Pole, the broken hole at the atmosphere and earth hour which often follow by the slogans such as “Love Your Mother Earth”, “Say No to Pollution”, “Be Kind to Your Mother Earth” etc. All these propagandas show that people today care a lot about the environment and these make up the primary concern of corporate social responsibility in every business which is the...

...of other fish species healthy and in suitable proportion for their ecosystem. However, shark population faces the threat of extinction in almost all parts of the world due to overfishing. Fishers us a technique called Bycatch, a process in which marine mammals or species of fish are unintentionally, caught while fishing for a specific target. Irrespective of the initiatives and laws put in place for overfishing, fishers have continued to hunt sharks for the fin soup, which is in high demand than their meat. On the other hand shark cartilage and shark liver oil are sold as cures for the hosts of aliments. Due to this disparity between meat and fins, it has led to a horrific practice of shark fining. As a result, there is need to create awareness on the importance of sharks in all parts of the world in order to save ocean ecosystem from extinction. Catching Techniques Many fishing techniques and gear are no selective and result in catching and discarding millions of marine life that is not always the target species. Most of the fishing methods like the long line typically are used to catch tuna. However, this fishing line has thousands of hooks that indiscriminately catch everything that comes to eat the bait including sea birds and sharks. As such, this method of fishing endangers those species that are not in target and end up putting the whole ocean and ecosystem at risk. Of late, shark by catch method is considered a nuisance and that sharks are cut loose and disposed of...

During development of a new repair scheme, to replace the inner inducer and outer inducer of the Forward Inner Nozzle Supports (FINS), a major challenge was encountered at the Electric Discharge Machine (EDM). A trial done on a scraped part revealed that 112 vanes have to be aligned before it can be machined by EDM to the inducer. By introducing a semi-automated machining fixture, the alignment of the vanes will be made easier, on top of increasing the utilization of the EDM by 20%. The aim of this project is to develop a machining fixture for the EDM so that the alignment of 112 vanes...

...take full advantage of the many benefits which such diversity brings to an organization. Key to understanding how diversity is managed in multinational organizations is understanding the concept of corporate culture (which defines organizations), diversity programs and their use to minimize conflict among employees, and the unique problems that employees working overseas encounter. One of the biggest companies that have worked a lot on diversity is Ford Motor Organization. Ford Motor Company is an American multinational corporation and the world's second largest automaker, selling vehicles in 200 markets and with approximately 345,000 employees on six continents. Ford also is a family with a heritage of strong and clear values. One of the most essential of Ford values is their commitment to diversity and inclusion. For Ford, diversity is a means to an end. It is one of the ways the company is seeking to drive a transformation to a team-based workplace. To have meaningful relationships with customers (and other stakeholders) it is essential to have an understanding of their needs. Having a diverse workforce is one of the ways of building this capacity into the company. From the start, Henry Ford and the family of Ford employees have valued diversity. Henry Ford launched our diversity journey when he offered a $5-a-day wage in 1914. Thousands of immigrants and African-Americans flocked to Ford Company, lured by the prospect of pay...

...capital and the extent to which they should continue to be invested in business. Integrated reporting is a journey. Organizations are unlikely to achieve perfection in the first year. In the absence of a generally accepted framework, companies that wish to move toward integrated reporting may encounter several dilemmas around relevance, scope, assurance and other issues. However, as reporting processes for the production of the supporting information are designed and improved and as the executive team begins to benefit from a more informed implementation of the governing structures’ decision, reporting will improve. This paper considers the rationale behind the move towards Integrated Reporting, offers initial proposals for the development of an International Integrated Reporting Framework, and outlines the next steps towards its creation and adoption, including the publication of an exposure draft in 2012. The purpose of this paper is to give an idea of what integrated reporting is all about,...

...is one of the richest economies in Asia. It is also the second largest of the former Soviet Republics after Russia. The economy has enormous fossil fuel reserves and plentiful supplies of minerals (Francis, 2011). There are different metals available in the economy including uranium, zinc, and copper. Some like uranium are exported to almost all parts of the globe. The economy was ranked 11th out 42 countries in the Asia-pacific region. The overall score of the economy is also above world and regional averages. The GDP of the economy grew from 78,014,200 in 1995 to 147,453,000 in 2005 (Aitzhanova, et al. 2014). The dollar exchange rate has been well managed through a sound monetary policy that has been adopted. The country has been faced with inflation challenges. In 2001, the inflation rate was very high because of strong foreign-currency inflows (Ibrayev, Badjanov & Li, 2014). However, the economy survived the pressure, and surprisingly it is one of the first former soviet republic that has repaid all debts to the international monetary fund in 2000 (Datkhayev, 2013). The country paid $400 million ahead of the schedule. From then, the economy has been able to limit its foreign debt within manageable levels.
