Edward Scissor-hands text response

To be different is to stand out or be unlike others. Conformity is to follow rules and laws or behave in accordance with socially accepted conventions. The poem About School was written by an anonymous student. It is about a boy who is different from the rest of his classmates. The movie Edward Scissor-hands , directed by Tim Burton it is about an innocent young man, with scissors for hands, who brought into suburbia after living in isolation. Both the film and the poem explore theme ideas through the different techniques used in both texts such as symbolism and motifs. Burton and the poem also will be comparing similarities and differences in the film and poem.

The creator died before he could finish Edward's hands; instead, he is left with metal scissors for hands. Since then, he has lived alone, until a kind lady called Peg discovers him and welcomes him into her home. At first, everyone welcomes him into the community, but soon things begin to take a change for the worse. The film uses techniques such as symbolic use of colour to highlight Edwards differences in society by dressing Edward in the complete opposite that would be socially acceptable. Most of suburbia is bright and colourful and most of the houses/cars/clothes are the same pastel colours while Edward's outfit is all black. Tim Burton uses sound to help the viewer understand the emotions Edward is feeling such as when he pushed Kevin out of the way and slashed his face, the sudden realisation that he'd hurt his friend and the fear of what Kim would think, the music played long and deep musical
