This inference is made out of reading many research papers and articles in the area. Almost every research points out gaps between the objectives of these courses and the actual delivery. When the students of some of the professional colleges in NCR were asked about the reasons and their expectations from these courses, 36 per cent students wanted these courses to focus more on improving listening skills, almost...

...s oНОВИНИ ЗАРУБІЖНОЇ НАУКИ 415 Mian Sajid Nazir1, Aqsa Butt2, Muhammad Musarrat Nawaz3 INTEREST RATE DETERMINANTS OF BANKS IN PAKISTAN This study attempts to investigate determinant factors of interest rate differential on deposits and loan accounts of Pakistani banks. For this purpose 4 year data on 30 banks is included in this research paper. The empirical results based on the correlational analysis of the relationship between weighted average rate of interest and 10 independent variables which are credit risk, amount of deposit, administrative cost, profit margins, bank's liquidity, amount of loan, market share, inflation rate, macroeconomic conditions and bank specific factors. These variables will help to highlight customer reaction towards variation in interest rates which help banks to review their policies regarding interest rates, margins and risk premium. The results shows that credit risk, administrative costs, profit margins and deposit amounts are important factors for the interest rate determination and these are positively related with interest rate. Bank's liquidity and deposit amount have negative relationship with interest rate. Meanwhile, inflation and market share have no significant relationship with interest rate fluctuations. The analysis segregated the Islamic and COllvellfional banking system imo commercial bank, finance company alld merchant bank. Overnight alld 3 month Klibor are llsed as interest proxy. Unit root test, Granger Causality test, Akaike Information Criterion and Regression analysist are IIsed in the study. The results of Granger Causality test indicate that the growth of overnight Klibor ca uses changes in the growth of Islamic and Conventional loan of Mercham Banks significantly and from the regression analysis, it is confirm that Islamic and Conventional loan growth of merchant bank are significantly positive related to overnight Klibor. INTRODUCTION The additional amo}Int a borrower pays a lender, over and above the borrowed sum (principal) is commonl y called interest. This interest depends on the size of the principal and the length of time the borrower takes to repay the principal and interest. For this reason, and for computational convenience, interest is usually expressed in terms of percentage per annum and is called the rate of interest. In banks there are three players. The players are the bank, the depositor and the borrower. The depositor places...

...Abstract This paper discusses the underrepresentation of blacks in the accounting profession in light of the increasing demand for Certified Public Accountants (CPA). The paper ex- plores the various reasons why blacks are underrepresented in the accounting profession. Furthermore, the paper examines these reasons through the lens of race and ethnicity. The paper also synthesizes multiple sources regarding blacks’ underrepresentation in account- ing. Blacks are underrepresented in accounting because of internal and external factors linked to their ethnic identity. Many blacks feel that they do not belong to the accounting profession, and as a result, they rarely choose accounting as a career. Many CPA firms think that blacks are not capable of doing the job and delivering the superior results that clients expect. While the demand for new and diverse accounting talents is increasing in light of recent white-collar crimes committed by Bernie Madoff, Enron and WorldCom, blacks’ representation in the ac- counting field still remains low. Research has shown that blacks are under- represented in most American Certified Public Accountant (CPA) firms. There is much speculation as to why this is so. One reason might be that blacks have some personal qualities that cause them to enter the account- ing profession at a low rate. Some people might even wonder if society is still oppressive towards blacks years after the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960’s. The reasons why blacks are underrepresented...

An excellent example is goal-setting theory. Its underlying premise is goals affect what one that one's conscious achieves.' Yet a swell in media and analyst coverage, plus a proliferation in cloud computing providers and marketing messages, has resulted in a great deal of confusion about what the term “cloud computing” really means. For example, some providers look at cloud computing as way to provide compute or storage capacity as a service, provi- sioned from a parallel, on-demand processing platform that leverages economies of scale. Others may equate cloud com- puting with software as a service, a delivery model for making applications available over the Internet. IT analysts view cloud computing from the perspective of variable pricing without long-term commitments and massive elastic scaling of services. IT leaders look at cloud as an infrastructure architecture alternative...

...The aim of the essay is to link sociology and the law and show how law and society are related and interdependent. INTRODUCTION Discrimination separates people instead of uniting them. Discrimination also hampers the self-confidence and affects the psychology of the person being discriminated against. Prejudice causes several changes in society .Even though these changes might not be intended .Discrimination is a threat to democracy, democracy is based on the idea of a society in which all individuals enjoy equal rights and treatment irrespective of their caste , gender, wealth etc. Democracy recognizes the equal worth of all citizens and has laws that help prevent discrimination in all spheres of life. Each person has a righto live with dignity and honour , this concept of equality is found in human rights. Discrimination can deprive the person of opportunities to progress in life, for example unfair payment for work has several consequences like having a smaller apartment, leading to dissatisfaction with one’s life when he stops going to places because of a fear of not being let in , this fear could exist due to previous exclusion from the enjoyment of these services. Or he could consider himself to be inferior after experiencing discrimination in recruitment, and stops looking for a job. Law is perhaps the most important instrument in the fight against discrimination. Law re flects the most fundamental values of the...

...1991 by Iijima [1] and the realization of their unique physical properties, including mechanical, ther-mal, and electrical, many investigators have endeavored to fabricate advanced CNT composite materials that exhibit one or more of these properties [2,*3,*4]. For example, as conductive filler in polymers, CNTs are quite effective compared to traditional carbon black micro-particles, primarily due to their large aspect ratios [5]. The electrical percolation threshold was recently re-ported at 0.0025 wt.% CNTs and conductivity at 2 S/m at 1.0 wt.% CNTs in epoxy matrices [6]. Similarly, CNTs possess one of the highest thermal conductivities known [*7], which suggests their use in composites for thermal management [2]. The main focus of this paper, however, will be on the use of CNTs as discontinuous reinforce-ment for polymer matrices. The CNT can be thought of as the ultimate carbon fiber with break strengths re-ported as high as 200 GPa, and elastic moduli in the 1 TPa range [8,**9]. This, coupled with approximately 500 times more surface...

...THE IMPACT OF KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT ON ORGANISATIONAL PERFORMANCE jeLena RašULa1 vesna BosiLj vUkšić2 Mojca inDiHaR šteMBeRGeR3 a B st R ac t: Knowledge management is a process that transforms individual knowledge into organisational knowledge. The aim of this paper is to show that through creating, accumulating, organising and utilising knowledge, organisations can enhance organisa- tional performance. The impact of knowledge management practices on performance was empirically tested through structural equation modelling. The sample included 329 com- panies both in Slovenia and Croatia with more than 50 employees. The results show that knowledge management practices measured through. information technology, organisa- tion and knowledge positively affect organisational performance. ke ywords: knowledge management maturity, information technology, organisational performance, structural equation modelling, survey research. 1. intRoDUction For many companies, the time of rapid technological change is also the time of incessant struggle for maintaining a competitive advantage. It is obvious that knowledge is slowly becoming the most important factor of production, next to labour, land and capital [39]. Even though some forms of intellectual capital are transferable, internal knowledge is not easily copied. This means that the knowledge anchored in employees’ minds can get lost if they decide to leave the organisation. Therefore, the key objective of management is...
