...1. Select a product you are currently interested in buying (either consumer or business-to-business) and use the Internet to make your decision. You may stop short of actually buying the product. Write a summary of your experience and include the various stages of the consumer buying process, the Web site components and other key terms and concepts covered in the reading in your text. Be sure to include your references. Buyers will typically go through various stages to make the decision to purchase. These stages occur in varying degrees depending on the complexity of the purchase and the buyer's behavior. With the rise of the Internet, it has never been easier for buyers to research their purchase. Make sure your small business is in the game by providing educational material on your website. After research is completed, the customer will evaluate all the available options. Options include but not limited to wanted features, pricing, and company credibility. This is the moment when the customer makes his decision to purchase or not. 2. Strictly from memory, write down six commercials or ads you remember seeing recently. What do you remember about them? Do you remember what they were advertising? Did you have an emotional response to any of them? Would they cause you to purchase the product? Write a paragraph or two about each one. 1. ...Bobby Lynch Professor LaPointe English Composition I 14 February 2016 New, Again: The Power of Packaging and its Effect on Consumer Expectations The package containing the video game Madden NFL ’16 contains a single striking image on the front and a plethora of words and pictures on the back. The front contains an action shot of wide receiver Odell Beckham Junior making a one-handed grab, set against the backdrop of a full stadium almost drowned out by the bright lights illuminating it. It has the EA Sports logo in almost the dead center, covering part of Beckham’s body, under which the title is printed across the image in shiny silver lettering. The NFL logo appears four times in this one image; twice on patches on the uniform of Odell Beckham, once in the title of the game, and a final time on a holographic sticker stuck to the front of the game. In the top left corner there is a small image advertising a new game mode called Draft Champions. It contains the Draft Champions logo with the words “All-New Fantasy Mode” surrounding it. On the bottom left is the ESRB rating, E for everyone. All of this is within the parameters of the box, which contains green trim and says Xbox One at the top. The back is much busier, with three separate action shots of football players in various positions. The largest image is a cornerback in a celebratory pose, under which it says, “Your Draft. Your Fantasy.” It then goes on to describe the all new Draft Champions mode, highlighting...

...Subject: Company Profile The company I am researching will be EA Games and its implementation of a $10 fee charged to gamers. EA develops, publishes, and distributes software for a variety of consoles that range from computer games to mobile software . EA was founded in 1982 and holds popular titles under its name such as Madden, FIFA, The Sims, and Battlefield, among others. EA has held a favorable market share over a 15-year period, and in an industry where software companies frequently enter and exit because of growing competition that can come from amateur developers to other well financed companies, only shows that this market share position is evidence of the popularity and quality of their products. Since the early 2000’s the internet has emerged and is becoming integrated with everything we use, as an industry software companies, including EA, have evolved multiplayer gaming into online entities that carry their own experiences past the story line assigned with each game. The Issue Originally games were simple and once played to the end, there was little left. Since the introduction of online multiplayer features, software companies have found ways to market new products. EA and many other developers found that by users would pay for virtual perks and advantages and that these virtual purchases created significant revenue for their company . EA however, took it a step further and charged users a $10 fee to access the games online features if the user was not the...

...these, are visually satisfying reality altering objects that are finding their way into households across the globe more and more each day via internet and cable television. The reason for this I believe is the diversity of the game developers today. They are targeting audiences of all ages, races, genders, and so much more when they produce and create their games. Electronic Arts is an American game publisher and developer that has perfected over 30 years the art by creating a thriving company basing all of its games off the targeted audience, providing immersing gameplay, as well as the means to get the games out and into the world. This will be my criteria for the 3 game advertisements; Battlefield 3, Madden NFL 25, and Create developed by EA that I will be evaluating. Battlefield 3; a first person shooter produced by Digital Illusions Creative Entertainment also known as “DICE” portrays large scale military firefights and battles, electrifying story mode gameplay, all the while being enhanced by the technological leaps in graphic design. All three of these things can meet the criteria of targeted audiences and the immersing gameplay. Just by watching the very brief launch trailer for the game it is clear that the target audience is young adult males, even more respectfully retired and active duty military. As a former active duty service member, I understand that veterans sometimes feel that rush of adrenaline by firing an M240 Bravo machine gun, throwing a grenade, or maybe...

...There has been stiff competition going on between 2K Sports and EA Sports in the development of their latest NBA video game, bound to be released later in 2014. In a report by Dime Magazine, 2K Sports, the company behind "NBA 2K15", was very busy in Las Vegas adding more detail to their game. The game developer sent facial-capture experts to the Las Vegas summer league to make sure that they have all the necessary details of every player and rookie. Getting the facial features right for each player will ultimately improve their player database and ensure that each one will be easily recognizable in the video game. 2K Sports previously shared how it aimed to make players' faces and other details clearer and more vivid in the upcoming 2015 version of the game. Like Us on Facebook A representative from 2K Sports said, "Most players come in and say 'whoa that's a lot of cameras'...but it's a static process. They just do a couple of facial expressions and from those expressions we can build movement from that." For several years, 2K has been the leading game developer in terms of creating a video game focusing on the NBA. EA Sports officially announced its comeback by developing a highly anticipated version of the game called "NBA Live 14". An now with "NBA Live 15", previews have revealed how EA Sports put a lot of effort to make player profiles more defined and realistic than ever. ...My reaction to this article on the Syrian conflict and how the Asad regime will survive until 2013 is a mixed one. On one hand I believe that the regime will eventually be kicked out of power. On the other I believe that the regime could stay in power. The reason behind my thought on how the regime could stay in power is that Asad has a military stronger than the rebels within the country. But connecting to what's happening in Syria now the regime could be thrown out of power if the United Nations gets involved, the U.N would only get involved if the Syrian government uses chemical weapons. A reason I believe the regime could stay in power is the fact that the opposition to the government has a very weak leadership causing any real progress in a coup d' etat to be difficult. From my understanding the author of this article believes that the Asad regime will survive. The author makes very good points like the opposition being weak, Asad having a strong military, and the fact that the chances of the international community intervening are very low, I still don't believe that the regme will last. I also learned that changes in government in the Middle East have been happening since the end of WW2. Another thing that I have learned is that many of the conflicts in the Middle East have been fought over religious disputes. The author also states that because of poor economy the regime will be overthrown, but it should last until 2013. A final thing that I have learned is that most...

...because it is a rich land, where people can grow crops and soil on. It is where the Nile River spreads out, and drains into the Mediterranean Sea. Having said so, how will global warming affect this rich soily land that provides a home for 3rd of the population? The answer is climate change, which will cause “the Mediterranean and other seas to rise one foot and 3.3 feet, flooding the coastal areas along the delta”. It will destroy the sandy beaches that are one of the main reasons why Egypt is visited by millions of tourists’ every day. Due to global warming, scientists are afraid that the ice sheets of Greenland and West Antarctic would melt; this will cause a greater damage for Egypt. As I mentioned before 10.5 percent of the population would have to look for new homes, because the delta would completely drown. Including half of the crops in Egypt would drown too, such as wheat bananas and rice. This is why, we should be more careful with the resources we use. We should recycle and help Egypt and the world from the burden of global warming. This will affect nobody but us, and our children; this gives me a bigger reason why I should take care of the earth, even if I’m the only one, ill still make a difference in the world. Sources:...

...I recommend that we prepare our delegates for the cultural norms of doing business in the Middle East and assign our representatives with this in mind. Summarily, this is because the prevalence of Islam in the region has resulted in different values assuming primacy and neglecting to educate our team on the cultural norms may result in an impression of ethnocentrism. Moreover, to avoid the appearance of paternalism I recommend that we also provide translators rather than rely on our customer’s English. At the meeting we discussed the successful bid for the contract and our flight to the initial meeting onsite. This raised a number of interesting questions regarding how we should conduct ourselves to minimise misunderstandings. If the negotiating team does not account for cultural differences in conducting business in the region the firm runs the risk of losing the contract to a competitor. Considerations must be given to the host’s religious sensibilities. Islam has implications for the systemic treatment of the business process, including what operational activities are permissible. The delegates must also be prepared for the following main differences to Australian culture as illustrated in the diagram below (Hofstede, 2012): context sensitivity in communication, autocratic leadership, the prevalence of collectivism and ‘face’, long term orientation compared to western cultures at circa 50 (Baron, 2008), and high levels of uncertainty avoidance, yet curiously a relatively elastic...

...BUSINESS AS USUAL? RECENT CHANGES IN THE ARAB WORLD IN HISTORICAL CONTEXT" By Michael B. Bishku* INTRODUCTION What began in Tunisia in December 2010 and continues most violently in Syria today has been labeled by observers of and experts on the Middle East as the "Arab Spring," but is that the correct term? (It should be noted that Lebanon engaged in the Cedar Revolution in 2005 - following the assassination of Sunni Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri by Hezbollah operativeswhich resulted in the withdrawal of Syrian froops after 30 years.) While Tunisia seems to be emulating Turkey as a historically secular country with mildly Islamist politicians exercising the greatest amount of influence in their country's respective foreign and domestic affairs, Egypt, the birthplace of the Muslim Brotherhood, appears to be at the center of a struggle between the Islamists and the military, which has dominated politics in that country since the early 1950s, while secularists and the minority Copts feel as if they have been sidelined. Majority Shi'a in Bahrain were quashed in their attempt to have a minority Sunni government recognize their rights, while Yemen's longtime leader was replaced by that country's vice president. Libya toppled an erratic dictator, but has no experience with representative government and like in Yemen the population possesses tribal identities. Syria is now engaged in a brutal civil war in which at least 20,000 people have lost their lives by the summer of 2012. Other countries...

...Political and Religious Corruption Knowing the fact that Nawal El Saadawi was a revolutionary woman in the Arab word, an Arabian reader like me or any other reader from any other part of the world won’t be so surprised of her exposing the corruption of the political and religious system in Arab’s societies. First, from the very beginning and through her female protagonist Firdaus , Nawal tries to pave the way for us as readers to be ready for the exposition of the political scene in Egypt, especially when Firdaus first starts to develop her love for reading and state the following: “I got to know about the Persians, the Turks and the Arabs. I read about the crimes committed by kings and rulers.” And there are other hints that she pointed out through the novel like when she used to spit on the pictures of those kings, princes and presidents who have their pictures published on magazines and newspapers. It is like Nawal, through Firdaus, is trying to deliver the idea of how the relation between women and the Egyptian authorities was taking place in that society, and how dangerous it will be to misunderstand the mechanism of how this corrupted political system works. Actually, there is that instant where Firdaus saw the pictures of the rulers who were sitting in mosques, surrounded by the congregation being present at the Friday ceremony and praying for the souls of martyrs and she comment on these pictures especially about the ruler when she says “Like a man stricken to...

In the midst of such conditions it was understandable that those countries were a piece of cake for the Soviet Union to make them communist "believers". The problem was not only based on the Soviet's desire, but mainly on the opponent‘s inability to resist the pressure of being involved in a new political system. The immediate reason and pushing power of the famous doctrine was Suez war. This war was aimed at the reservation of the Egypt's nationalization in the Suez Canal Company. Three participants: France, Britain and Israel failed greatly in helping Egypt and this fact caused creation of a whole new page in the diplomatic world history. Britain at that time was considered the most...
