Why should you want to live the rest of your life with someone who you don’t like? Arrange marriages being where you put two people together, so that their marriages will benefit you instead of them. El Patron being the person who literally runs the city of Opium who is also 140 years old and runs eejits and clones in the book House of the Scorpion. Opium is the town where all eejits and clones and other people live where EL Patron runs it. Eejits are people who have been brain washed by an injection. Instead of having love in marriages he wants money and power from it. A lot of people who live in the city of Opium do not like El Patron because of his actions. El Patron needs to stop arrange marriages, because people can’t find no love in their life. All El Patron cares about is making money off of marriages instead of people having the choice to pick someone they love. For an example in Chapter 21 of House of the Scorpion on page 204 “Benito and Fani , his bride had loathed each other on sight; but El Patron like Nigerian money, so their opinions didn’t count.” In this quote it shows that El Patron didn’t care what Benito or Fani thought he wanted to have Nigerian money. El Patron put Benito and Fani together so he can make money. He did not care if they had been in love or hated each other; he was just sure that he was going to get Nigerian money. All El Patron cared about was what is going to benefit him? All EL Patron cared about was getting money. El Patron also loved to have power and be in control. He puts Alacran and Felicia together so he can have power. For an example on pager 124 of The House of the Scorpion, “Mr. Alacran was very, very angry because he didn’t want her back, but EL Patron didn’t care. Mr. Alacran doesn’t even want to talk to her anymore. He won’t even look at her.” See Mr. Alacran didn’t even want to acknowledge the fact that he was

...Kentucky Fried Chicken Strategic Plan-Part One Jeanette Cortez, Autumn Crowther, James Hopper Fernando Manaloto, Joe Newkirk, and Rita Salem International Strategic Planning and Implementation STR/GM 581 March 31, 2011 Dr. Tim Becker, MBA Introduction Kentucky Fried Chicken has been established as a franchise in Latin America and the focus of this plan will be the El Salvador franchise. The strategic management process is vital and a well laid out plan is necessary. Consequently, by evaluating the background of KFC, the outcome should lead to a clear mission and vision statement outlining the purpose and goals of the company. Also, the mission and vision will keep all shareholders informed of the objectives that should be met by KFC. “Defining the company mission is one of the most often slighted tasks in strategic management” (Pearce II & Robinson Jr., 2009, p. 42). A mission lays out the organization’s goals and basically specifies the purpose of the organization. Decisions and strategies can be established after environmental scanning is done along with a Situational Analysis (SWOT). The strategic process also involves frequently assessing the industry structure and choosing strategic plan options that help expand global operations. The two chosen strategic options that will be discussed will be product differentiation and cost leadership. This plan should give clarity on how the options and recommendations fit with both the competitive situation...

...unfairly treated and even discriminated by the Spaniards. Filipino women were abused by the Spanish friars and other Spaniards. Others were judged without even having due process and even tortured to death for crimes they did not even commit, such that of the child in the film, who was Crispin in Rizal’s novel. Although the Spanish government conducts a court hearing to those who were accused of a crime (only in some cases), they only give Spanish lawyers to defend those accused and even manipulated the law in favor of themselves, leaving the Filipinos with no other choice but to accept and suffer from the crimes that they didn’t even committed. These events were shown and expressed by Rizal in his two novels entitled Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, which the Filipinos have read in spite of the banning of these said books to be read by the public. In spite of many hindrances in the publication of these books, it was stillprinted to make the Filipinos aware of what was really happening. Rizal almost put these books into fire because of his financial incapability due to the economic problem in Calamba, when the friars increased the tax that they’ve been collecting from the Calamba people which the people didn’t agreed to pay, thus they was forced by the friars to leave from their houses and kicking them out of the lands that they used to plant their crops with. Rizal’s purpose in writing these books was to show his fellow Filipinos of what was really happening in the country...

The Fall of the Mayan Empire

...The Fall of the Mayan Empire Naomi M. Cranfield Prof. Hunsucker Hum 111 February 2, 2013 The Maya civilization was several independent city states which shared a cultural heritage of language, customs, dress, artistic style and material culture. They were located in the Central American continent, to include parts of Belize, Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador. It was an area of approximately 150,000 square miles. Some of the better known city states were Tikal, Calakmul, Caracol and Dos Pilas. There were several strong kings at those locations, but none of them ever truly conquered the others. The city states traded with one another, and they also warred with one another from time to time. The population has been estimated to have been millions. In the 1600s, the Spanish reported that there were approximately 600,000 people living in the Yucatan peninsula alone. Each of the larger cities probably had populations in excess of 100,000. That doesn't count the rural sectors that supported the larger cities. But what happened to such a large culture that they seemed to have disappeared in such a short span of time? There have been so many concepts as to why the Maya civilization fell, but one of the more interesting and in my opinion more plausible beliefs has to do with a severe change in climate. ("The rise and," 2004) “Tom Sever, NASA's only archeologist, has been using satellites to examine the Mayan ruins. Combining those data with conventional down-in-the-dirt...
