...The election of 1912 was a four-way race with a voting outcome the US has not seen since. The race began when William Howard Taft received the Republican nomination for re-election over Theodore Roosevelt. Roosevelt had previously been President from 1901-1909; his first term inherited due to the in-office death of William McKinley. Upon election into his second term (first full term), Roosevelt vowed to not run for office again. Fast forward to 1912, the end of the first term of Roosevelt’s hand picked successor William Howard taft, and Teddy was back in the race. After losing the Rebuplican nomination to Taft, who received more support from the conservative side of the party, Roosevelt had a convention of his own and started the Progressive Party. Naturally, Roosevelt got the nomination. With Woodrow Wilson receiving the Democrat’s nomination for election, and Eugene V. Debs running under the increasingly loud Socialist umbrella, the stage was set for the 1912 Presidential Election. “The four way contest between Taft, Roosevelt, Democrat Woodrow Wilson, and Socialist Eugene V. Debs became a national debate on the relationship between political and economic freedom in the age of big business. On one end of the political spectrum stood Taft, who stressed that economic individualism could remian the foundation of the solial order so long as government and private entreprenuers cooperated in addressing social ills. At the other end was Debs. Relatively few Americans supported...

...effects of part time job Chapter 1 Theoretical framework The theory that guides the researcher in this study is the general concept of the “Law of Causality” .Causality is simply an inquiry that uses the ability to find explanations on cause-and-effect (Pearl, 1996). This helped explain certain phenomenon occurring in the realm of education. Causality tells us what is possible, what can be changed and what is difficult, if not impossible to change (Losh, 2001). ...IAS 38 — Intangible Assets Overview IAS 38 Intangible Assets outlines the accounting requirements for intangible assets, which are non-monetary assets which are without physical substance and identifiable (either being separable or arising from contractual or other legal rights). Intangible assets meeting the relevant recognition criteria are initially measured at cost, subsequently measured at cost or using the revaluation model, and amortised on a systematic basis over their useful lives (unless the asset has an indefinite useful life, in which case it is not amortised). IAS 38 was revised in March 2004 and applies to intangible assets acquired in business combinations occurring on or after 31 March 2004, or otherwise to other intangible assets for annual periods beginning on or after 31 March 2004. ...I. Introduction Immigration plays a big role in today’s business world. Especially the hospitality and tourism industry is highly affected, as this industry offers a large number of unskilled positions that can easily be provided to immigrants (Hearns, Devine & Baum, 2007). The intention of these workers who go abroad is mainly the chance to earn higher wages in the chosen foreign country (D’Netto & Sohal, 1999). According to these facts the workforce, especially in the hospitality industry, is becoming more and more diverse which can lead to either advantages or disadvantages (Kandola & Fullerton, 1998; Gröschl & Doherty, 1999; Kreitner, 2004 in Hearns, Devine & Baum, 2007). In order to overcome issues and conflicts related to cultural diversity, key authors such as Gundling & Zanchettin (2007), Primer (2000), D’Netto & Sohal (1999) , Graf (2003) and Lund (2003) have pointed out the possibility to implement diversity management strategies that help employees with the adaptation process. II. Cultural diversity Culture is a term that has many definitions in academia; Hofstede (2001) introduces culture as “the collective programming of the mind that distinguishes the members of one group or category of people from another” (p.9). Moreover Hofstede (2001) has developed the theory of using five different dimensions in order to analyze differences between cultures. In addition not only National Culture can have an impact on the workforce but also the implementation of an organizational...

...Fay Bound (2004) tests the word anxiety and the message conveyed with it in our present day. Vocalizing that the word “anxiety” is being overly used to describe a false disorder and belittle the real disorder. Stating that anxiety was not a word until the 17th century, Bound gives readers the “real” definition to this disorder. Bound also argues that anxiety is not rooted in the mind as previously thought nor can it define the state of someone who is emotionally distressed. Anxiety is not something that should be used loosely and cannot be used to describe abnormal or numerous amount of fears. Bound uses a lot of resources in the journal like various authors, networks and publications of anxiety. One would suppose that Bound would use a...

(Berle and Means 1932; Jensen and Meckling 1976);二,美国的政治决策是让股东在激烈竞争的市场上保持弱小和被动,而不是依靠有效的持股模式生存(Black 1990; Roe 1994)。
