...Statement of Purpose I am applying to pursue my Doctor of Philosophy degree in Electrical Engineering. My research interest is in the signal, image and video processing, VLSI and embedded systems and biomedical sensor. My career goal is to pursue my career as a researcher, either as a teaching faculty or in an R & D department of an industry. With the enthusiasm and the predilection to science, I started my bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. In my childhood, my father used to help me to study mathematics and science, the way he used to explain the scientific terms of my textbooks, enthralled me, created an inclination to do something by myself. ...Airplane electrical systems are important because they run all the stuff that warns the pilots that they maybe stalling out or if something is wrong with the airplane. Electrical systems are powered by two different powers and they are known as direct current and alternating current. The alternating current is the easiest one to produce that it is produce direct current. An alternating current generator utilizes a bundle wire that spins in a field of magnetism, and this field is created by invisible lines made up of magnetic flux between two pole pieces. These two pieces ends of the bundle terminate in slip rings connected to external circuit through carbon like brushes. When the bundle is in a certain position one, both of the sides that are traveling in parallel to the flux, and the lines are absolutely not cut. Which means that there is no current being produced, and that there isn't voltage between the rings that slip. When the bundle spins to position two the current starts out as a zero and goes to the highest amount of the lines of flux that are definitely cut. Then as the bundle of wires spin again, this current that was reached is reverted back to zero....

...and professional papers is to inform the public on a specific subject matter. These writings relate directly to a broad spectrum dependent on the edition or publication specifics. Of professional papers, several types can provide a scope of information and credibility toward a purveyance of technical or detailed information. The structure is usually even flowing and organized with particular information segments set out about the constituency of the writing. These papers, intended for publication in special interest journals, enhance the writers research, writing, and documentation capabilities as some of the information, not being his/her own will need to be accredited as if it is not, than plagiarism will be extrapolated. Journals, usually published by or for a particular subject matter or client, are detailed and accurate. There may be a UCLA journal, National Geographic Journal, or even a mechanic’s journal. The particulars of this, geared toward a particular audience and each entry, will usually comprise two titles sharing a general viewpoint for the nonprofessional and an entry specific title for the professional. The purpose of journals is to inform a group or individual of the credible elements related to a curriculum or scientific, professional, or academic scope. The writings or information in a journal may be composed of professional papers but the opposite is not the same. When a professional is composing a scientific paper, there are parameters...

...To begin with, it is thought that the earliest use of kites was among the Chinese about 2,800 years ago. No ones knows exactly how or who created the first kite, but it is suspected that it was invented by two 5th century BC philosophers named Mozi and Lu Ban. A popular Chinese legend explains the story of a farmer who tied a straw hat to his head with a piece of string to keep it from blowing away. Nevertheless, the hat managed to float off causing the farmer to trail behind it while holding the string. The legend then says that the kite was born. By 549 AD paper kites were being flown all over the world. After this invention the Chinese then created a holiday called the Festival of Ascending on High. Which is based on their love of flying...

...I believe writing is so important, especially when you have dedicated yourself to a life-long learning experience. School and from my experiences in writing I can say I’ve had but minimal training, just the basics. Never have I ever written something for fun or for my own good, every time I write it’s for a grade, not for my own pleasure nor for a greater purpose than just a grade, and surely this has to change. Ever sense I have become extremely interested in learning more about the world around me, understanding what is happening and why its happening, has made me curious, and slowly I am starting to put the puzzles together, and through this process realizing that being a fluent writer can benefit me in various ways. I am majoring in electrical and computer engineering but I am interested in everything that has to do with science, mathematics, engineering, along with communication and music and just with this information, I can see writing will be of...

Besides fibers and chemicals, manufacturing of pulp and paper requires a large amount of process water and energy in the form of steam and electric power. Consequently, the main environmental issues associated with pulp and paper production are emissions to water, emissions to air, and energy consumption. Waste is a gradually increasing environmental issue of concern .Paper production typically involves the following steps: • Producing and acquiring fiber • Chemically or mechanically processing the fiber into pulp • Running the pulp through a paper machine to create large rolls of paper The papermaking...

...A Guide for Writing a Technical Research Paper Libby Shoop Macalester College, Mathematics and Computer Science Department 1 Introduction This document provides you with some tips and some resources to help you write a technical research paper, such as you might write for your required capstone project paper. First, congratulations are in order– you are embarking on an activity that is going to change the way you think and add to the overall body of human knowledge. The skill of gathering information, deciding what is important, and writing about it for someone else is extremely valuable and will stay with you for the rest of your life. Because we humans have been doing this for quite some time, we have some reasonably standard forms for technical research papers, which you should use for your capstone. You should do this because your paper will better understood by readers who are familiar with this form. Before you can begin writing your paper, you need to have a sense for what research entails, so I’ll start there. Then I will give you some tips about writing, including connecting with your readers, defining your topic, the format of your paper, and how to include references from the literature. I am a computer scientist, so be aware that parts of this paper are biased toward my discipline. 2 What is Research? A short definition of research, as given by Booth, Colomb, and Williams (Booth et al., 1995) is “gathering the information you need to answer...

...Health and Social Care Activities for health and well being Introduction The unit requires me to manage an activity in a health and social care environment which will benefit an individual or a small group of service users, the activity will allow me to work on my communication skills with contrasting age groups. With the activities I have designed I would have to take into account the physical, intellectual, social and emotional side of each child. For this I will be visiting Woodend Preschool where I will be holding an activity to evaluate the children's skills and assessing how well we communicate between each other, by the way our body language comes across. Before making my final decision about the activity, I will have to take into consideration the skills each child has, the facilities, safety implications, equipment and time. Also I have to plan, improve and evaluate my activity; I have also made samples for each of my activities. The preschool and early school years are also full of changes, from three to five the child’s motor skills, language, thinking and social development change dramatically. A01- Suitable Activities and Reasons for Choice I have created a range of activities that would be suitable for Pre-schoolers aged between three to four, at this point in their life the child's development is important, it is a time where the child’s world will be dominated by fantasy and vivid imagination. Hopefully the children will be able move around confidently...

...Harvard Business School 9-297-005 Rev. October 18, 1996 D O Private Equity Investment in Russia: Alliance Cellulose Limited N In April, 1995, portfolio managers were reassessing the investment climate in Russia. Since the disintegration of Communism and the Soviet Union in 1991, western investors had been intrigued by the potentially huge returns that could be gained by participating in the restructuring of the Russian economy. Russia’s transformation to a market system, however, had been highlighted by missteps and disappointments. Foreign investors who had jumped into the market only eight months earlier were burned badly by a general market collapse in October. Furthermore, Russia’s political and economic future were uncertain. O Nevertheless, Russia possessed many attractive features that could reward those with the courage to invest at this early stage of market development. Russia’s natural resources accounted for significant portions of the world’s proven oil and gas, timber, coal, and minerals reserves. In addition, the privatization process, lack of internal capital, and country-specific risk resulted in valuations for Russian companies that seemed to be small fractions of their world peers. T Russia in 1995 was frequently compared to America’s “Wild West,” when the search for riches and general lawlessness combined to create very volatile conditions. While western money managers were drawn to Russia by tantalizing asset valuations...
