CHILDHOOD OBESITY IN AMERICA ALEATHA A. WAGERS AIU ONLINE

ABSTRACT

Childhood Obesity in America is a growing disease, that has become an epidemic that has lasting psychological effects, because of advertisement of fast food, lack of physical activities, and parental control; which has made food become a major health issue in many young Children’s lives.

CHILDHOOD OBESITY IN AMERICA

I feel that one of the most important things that has had an effect on today’s youth is the wide range of fast food chains, that target kids in their advertising. For me that is one of the memories I had growing up, was always begging my mom for a Happy meal. It was mainly due to the fact that there was a toy that came with it, Not Thinking twice about what the meat was actually made of. Did you know that if you were to lay a thing of fries and a double cheese
Burger from McDonalds’ out for two years, it would look just like it did one day one? That can’t be good for our bodies! Today some restaurant chains have healthier options to choose from, due to the public Scrutiny putting these companies in the cross fire to make changes towards better meal choices for our youth.

In my opinion, I think that a lot of today’s obesity problem also lies a great deal on the lack of physical exercise that young kid’s get. While there are laptops, ipads, and video games, children today, spend less time outside. No wonder there has been such a rise in American childhood
