...From the show Cabaret, there are some actors that demonstrate the ability to act and while being fabulous toward the audience. One of the actors that I consider shows a good acting in the play is Gabe Manley portraying Emcee. He demonstrated a good acting throughout the play. Every moment that he portrayed in the play showed very specific action on what his character doing toward other characters and himself. At the beginning of the play by portraying a character with the European accent (German maybe) and be open toward the audience without an idea of humiliation and fear. He expresses his action more physically active toward the audience and also not bit an errand. He definitely in line with intentions between the playwright and the play...

...This is Pow Wow He stood among the dancers in the grass arena, still and poised, ready to outperform his competition. Finally, the loudspeakers rang out with the beat of the drum, setting the dancers into motion for the last time that year. Slowly, they began to come alive quickening their pace as the singers cried out their song. His steps were perfect, each one placed with meaning, precisely timed with the beat. His feathers bobbed up and down, echoing his movements. Beads of sweat streamed down his painted face and caught at the end of his nose before being thrown onto the moccasin-beaten grass. His bells and headdress shook with each step, the red and yellow colors of his regalia blurring as he spun. His heart raced as the song reached its peak, his hands wet with nervous sweat. He timed his steps, concentrated on the beat, and took a deep breath, preparing for the move that would bring him victory: a complete and perfect handspring. As his feet came down over his body, thousands of Indians around the arena caught their breath. He pretended not to notice, continuing to pound his moccasins into the ground in rhythm with the drum. As the last beat rang, he froze his body in the stance of a warrior, posing as still as he had before the song began. His chest heaved and sweat poured down his broad, smiling face. I joined my family and the crowd in cheering for him, proud to be his niece. Dancers like him and moments like these are what keep our culture alive. This is why I love...

...sound of a violin playing fast in the background. Each step they take to the rhythm. This is the world of Irish Dance. The world of the Corda Mór Irish dance school in Edina, Minnesota. Corda Mór Irish Dance is one of many Irish dance schools located in the Twin Cities. Teaching kids from age five all the way to twenty. This school has been a big part of my family for years. Both my younger sister, Clare, and my older sister, Kennedy, have been a part of it. My father, Joe, is even the emcee for the school. As Kennedy got older she moved onto other things, like college. Clare however is still very actively involved in the community and will be for some time. Dancing her heart away. Only in seventh grade Clare has been dancing all her life. Ever since she was five she has been on that dance floor. Tapping away to the beat. After...

...Dre and Ice Cube, and then the song enters into the first verse that was rap by Dr. Dre. Before entering the following each verse, there is a hook in between, and the hook is sampled from the classic 1971 song with the same name Express Yourself by Charles Wright & the Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band. The song by N.W.A. does not contain a basic element usually a song has – chorus. Instead of a chorus, the song uses a short hook to fill the gap between each verse. In addition, the song seems like a solo track by Dr. Dre since the whole song is only sung by one emcee. Compare to the other songs of the N.W.A., Express Yourself follows the intention of the lyric wants to call out the people to get back to the origin and be themselves, and the song also gets back the original of the hip-hop genre with one emcee solo track. Other songs of the N.W.A. mostly contains multiple emcees instead of primary...

They must wait for the host/emcee to call them before they answer. They must say both the title and the artist of the song. Game #2 – This game needs 8 members per group, 2 representatives per year. In this game, the game masters will draw a paper that consists a pop artist after doing so the emcee will announce the artist. The group must think of the artist songs and sing at least the line of it. But before they can answer they must pop only balloon at the center, it doesn’t matter if the other team got the balloon first as long as the balloon doesn’t pop, and the other players can steal the balloon. ...the addition of songs, changes in lyrics and different costume concepts, all of which affected the development and portrayal of various characters within the musical. Based on the book The main message that I got from this production is that we should be accepting of everyone no matter what their beliefs or actions are. This was well communicated, particularly through the staging and the way the actors portrayed the characters. The Emcee was the most interesting character to me as the audience was given hardly any context as to who he was and why he was a part of the Kit Kat Klub. I was also curious why he had developed his viewpoint on how life should be lived. I wasn’t very interested in the character Herr Schultz. He seemed like a basic character to me that didn’t have any personality traits that set him apart from other characters. His actions never strayed from what you would expect from him and he didn’t really develop or change as a character, other than perhaps a small growth in his love for Fraulein Schneider. The guy who played the Emcee did a really good job. He seemed really into his character and enthusiastic, which was appropriate to the character. The ensemble (those who played the other people in the show at the Kit Kat Klub) did a really good job. There was a section of the set that was immersive seating where the audience could sit on the stage. The actors interacted with those seated here, asking them questions such as “how are you doing?” or “is there anything...

...Arnold “Gatemouth” Moore Mable Osemwegie Tennessee State University Arnold Dwight “Gatemouth” Moore was one of America’s most popular blues singers in the 1940s before becoming a renowned religious leader, radio announcer, and gospel singer. Moore was born in Topeka, Kansas on November 8, 1913. He sang ballads and spirituals as a youngster in his hometown and as a teen, he left with a traveling show called the Port Gibson-based Rabbit Foot Minstrels. When the traveling show ended, he ended up in Clarksdale around 1934. A year or so later he caught a ride to Memphis and launched a new career as a blues shouter. At a show in Atlanta an intoxicated woman gave him his nickname, he recalled “I opened my mouth and she looked up and hollered, ‘Ah, sing it, you gate mouth S.O.B.”. Moving between Memphis, Kansas City, and Chicago, he toured with some of the country’s top bands, wrote and recorded hits such as “I Ain’t Mad at You Pretty Baby,” “Did You Ever Love a Woman,” and “Somebody’s Got to Go”. Both B.B. King and Rufus Thomas considered Moore a major influence and remained close friends with him through the years. Moore was ranked in the top rung of vocalists in national polls by the Defender when he felt the calling to preach. He carried his flair for showmanship with him into the ministry, as a gospel singer, recording artist, as the host of radio and television programs, and as a raconteur whose tales could stretch the limits of belief. ...

...Davon Keppel Professor Todd Craig English 112 3/19/16 What Is Happening to The Message? Throughout history, poets were known for telling the people what was going on in either their country or town. Hip-hop was born as a descendant from poetry. But as it began its craze was due to the DJ scratching different beats together. As the DJ began to like the music they created it became background sound to the lyrical Emcee. Everyone wanted to know what the Emcee had to say and how they would rhyme. I have noticed that the positive message in the Emcees rhyme’s and political statements that rap music started with began to deteriorate over time. It was as though hip hop went from talking about what was going on currently in a positive way, to rappers encouraging violence as promoting a negative message. Since the 1980’s to current time there has been a persistent problem of how hip-hop has changed. Grand Master Flash’s “The Message” is a sociopolitical rap song that is truly about poverty and how inner city life was in America in 1982. The first verse speaks to the apparent struggle in his time, “Got no money to move out, I guess I got no choice”. Many people at the time, even though their surroundings were not safe, had no money to move away. Another verse from Master Flash “Rats in the front room, roaches in the back/ Junkies in the alley with the baseball bat” is a light way to show the public what is going on in some neighborhoods. In the 1980’s there was a crack epidemic...
