Bret is between not being able to decide and being satisfied. Being engaged takes a little more effort and belief in what you are doing. His job satisfaction is neither high nor low. We can change his outlook and work ethic by motivation and our actions. His satisfaction level may be due to things that we can change here he may be very valuable in helping us mold the company in to a new and more encouraging and employee driven place. His efforts are needed to meet our company standards and we need to find out if he is willing to do the things we need to continue to work with our company. These characteristics can affect the company in lots of ways. Having an employee who in nonchalant or doesn’t care either way can make for some bad representation and decision making. I suggest doing some training with him and figuring out what is working and not with this employee. I would manage Bret by giving detailed directions, being professional and cordial without being overfriendly. I would try to see if Bret could be a manager or be promoted in the current job and see if his happiness could be found in our company.

Naomi is satisfied in her field of study and is engaged very much in what she is doing. She is currently an asset to our company as far as being engaged and satisfied. These are just some areas and I suggest doing other assessments with this employee and a possible promotion depending on the outcome. Someone that is happy and engaged in his or her job can be a huge asset and motivational person inside of a company. The characteristics of this employee can affect our company like a domino reaction when others see her doing the right things and enjoying what she is doing it can rub off on peers and others who work with someone who is satisfied and engaged in his or her job. I can manage Naomi in a more distant way because I know she will take it upon herself to get things done. An employee like this can get minimal direction and come out with a superior outcome.

Jolene is mixed in her level of satisfaction and field of study. She shows doubt and is not sure of her work or field she is currently in. We should monitor her work habits and observe if she is a right match for our company. We can also learn from her where we may not be up to par in management and make a change from her suggestions and view point. More assessments are needed in the case of someone who is unhappy and not satisfied to determine if the company can make changes or if it all relies on the employees’ personal mental and emotional life and health. The best way I will manage Jolene is by using a friendly and receptive approach with her and try to understand her view on why this is not the place for her.

Three employees at Riordan Manufacturing were given the Pearson Prentice Hall Self-Assessment to evaluate their skills, abilities, and interests. All three employees scored a 65 when asked how satisfied they are with their job. This low number may indicate that they have a negative genetic predisposition towards life. Not surprisingly, each employee hit the median range of 35 when asked if they were engaged in their job. When a person scores high in this range, it usually means that they are more satisfied with their job and the commitment to their job. Emotions that people experience have an influence on his or her behavior in an organization. In general, people and organizations benefit from positive emotions. Both positive and negative emotions can be contagious. Displaying positive emotions around others can put them in a good mood, while displaying negative emotions around others can put others in a bad mood (Robbins, 2008).
