Is Ender Wiggin their last chance at saving humanity? Maybe one of the many questions one can ask himself while reading Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card. In the book, Andrew “Ender” Wiggin is placed in a difficult situation. Although he overcomes the situation, it did not affect his identity. Ender had to learn to cope with the things that have happened to him.
At the age of six, Ender was taken and placed in battle school. Unlike most of his peers, Ender is isolated from almost everyone else and advances more quickly. This causes a majority of his peers and commanders to develop an animosity towards him. However, Ender does begin to make friends who genuinely care for him. Now that he has won the battle, he is done with being controlled.
At times, Ender’s believed that he was a killer; no one else thought he was. In the beginning, when he finished beating up Stilson, his tormentor, he felt bad.” I am just like Peter. Take my monitor away, and I am just like Peter,” (Card 8). He may have felt that he was going to be just as ruthless as Peter, but he stayed true to his caring temperament. “I didn’t want to kill them all. I didn’t want to kill anybody! I’m not a killer!” (Card 297). He felt bad about killing an entire species. As soon as he found out that the buggers did not blame him for death, and that they left him a bugger baby to restart their species. He felt that he owed that to them, in addition, he spoke on the behalf of the queen. Ender is still an affectionate young boy.
All things considered, Ender had to face separation from his family, isolation, and endless torment. Nonetheless, he did achieve the task of killing the buggers. One generation of a species may be dead, but he can restart their colonization. He may have thought he lost who he was, for the most part, he is still a caring
