...Round is a Shape Dennis R. Mayo, Jr. DeVry University Round is a Shape According to a report from Harvard Medical School, recent data from the National Center for Health Statistics shows that approximately one child out of every three in the United States is overweight (Fighting, 2014). Additionally, a Centers for Disease Control study shows that approximately seventeen percent of children in the U.S. (12.7 million), between the ages of two and nineteen years, are obese (Childhood, 2015). That in itself should be cause for concern. These kind of numbers are very alarming and show just how serious the situation is. What seemed to be a problem that has recently emerged, childhood obesity has been a growing concern for years. How did this happen? What is causing such a catastrophic health concern in our children? Politicians argue the fact that advertisement is to blame as this is an obvious scapegoat. We need to open our eyes to what should be an elementary problem and solution. While there are several contributing factors to this epidemic, poor diet and lack of physical activity stand out as the direct cause. Local leaders and parents must take a more active role to encourage their children to become more active and eat healthier to combat the overwhelming crisis of childhood obesity in the United States. Balanced is a term that should be in everyone’s vocabulary concerning the health of our children. A National Institutes of Health study indicated that obesity is a result...

Some of the things you can do and not a victim yet is to monitor your credit and keeping your information safe. We talked about not only making sure your information is safe when you’re out in the public, such as only carrying one credit card when you really need it, not carrying your social security card and birth certificate just to name a few, We don’t need to have these things with us everyday. Just keep the common things you need with you every day, like your drive’s license, one credit card, just to be safe. Don’t carry your checking account if you don’t need to write a check because again someone could take that information and really start writing checks that aren’t yours and can start causing a lot of damage down the road. Another things is when you’re checking credit, make sure that you’re checking it on a regular basis. You can get one free copy of your credit report from each of the three credit bureaus each year. So if you want to check that systematically, you could pull your first one from Equifax, and then three or four months later pull the next one from Experian, and then three or four months later pull the next one from Trans Union. So keeping...

Two weeks later after the announcement, Boeing filed an appeal through the General Accountability Office (GAO) to protest the Air Force’s decision. This paper will discuss the Boeing’s basis of appeal and contrast them with the GAO’s findings in their protest. The source selection of the aerial refueling tanker contract became one of the most controversial procurement process in the history of the United States. Boeing versus...

...Eng 135 Essay #1 Expository GROWING UP HISPANIC I could not imagine myself being anything else but Hispanic. I had an interesting up bringing by a Puerto Rican mother that was strict, in your face, no nonsense, and a loving mother and by a Dominican father that was care free, laid back, funny, easy to talk too, and loving. I guess I can say I had the best of both worlds due to the fact that I am half Puerto Rican and half Dominican. Even though I identify myself with my Puerto Rican side a lot more than I can identify with my Dominican side. I still love the fact that even though Dominicans are Hispanic and we speak somewhat the same language Puerto Rican and Dominicans are so different in the way that we live, eat, raise our children, educated themselves. My father’s upbringing was a very comfortable one due to the fact that my Grand Father was rich. Sugar cane being big on the islands, my Grand Father had many which contributed to the money in our family. My father being the oldest of ten would make you think that he had the most responsibility when in actuality it was the opposite. When my father was 18 he went off to war and was smuggled out of the Dominican Republic into Mexico, he fought for a short period of time. At the end of that time he ended up in New York. In New York, my father was the manager of a dry cleaning business for the rich and the famous, among those Rockefeller was one of his clients. My mother’s upbringing on the other hand was a very poor...

Remote monitoring and control of the bioreactor’s computer via the Internet avoids the necessity of personnel being continually onsite during operation. A two liter Sartorius-stedim Biostat® A Plus fermentation system was networked and interfaced with the commercial software from GoToMyPC® to allow remote control of the fermentation system utilizing the internet. The fermentation vessel was equipped with hardware calibrated for monitoring and controlling culture parameters during experimentations. The uniform resource locator controlled night-vision web camera allowed continuous monitoring of the glass fermentation vessel during the day and at night. ...Opposing Casinos in Penang Over the recent years, gambling has been defined as wagering of something with value on the aftermath of an event governed by an unavoidable segment of prospect for a reward with capital value, Gainsbury et al (2006). In addition to that, Eaves (2001) defined gambling as: “A simple definition of gambling would be, desiring the possession or possessions of another (prize) the gambler creates a risk (that of losing his own possession) in an attempt through chance to gain the possession or possessions of another with nothing given in exchange… It may be five thousand or five dollars, it may be fifty cents or one cent — the principle is the same, only the amount differs”. During a gambling session, cash is commonly wagered and won or lost or each of two directly through cash transactions, or discursively through tokens, credits and chips which have capital value. All other forms of entertainment joints are drawn in provisions of revenue through the gambling industry. Based on Mizerski’s (2012) gambling theory, industries correlated with gambling are now operational in most of the countries in Asia as well as in Western countries. The gambling industry’s activities are wide and international in scope. The author also stated that the biggest area of user entertainment revenue is represented by legal gambling world-wide and it even dwarfs other modes of entertainment such as the theme parks, music and movies. Ndubisi et al (2012) contend that gambling...
