I think Thatcher have a high degree of extroversion. She was willing to meet and talk with people that she had not met before. For example, Thatcher was a first foreign visitor meet Ronald Reagan in United States and she received the warmest possible welcome. After the meeting, they formed a very close personal friendship. Moreover, Thatcher also was a sociable leader. In 1982 she was a first British prime minister to visit China for a discussion with Deng Xiaoping about independence of Hong Kong (Cottrell, 1992). ...Memorandum Date: 8/24/2010 To: Mr. Professor Name From: Student One and Student Two Subject: Sample Informal (Memo) Report Summary The objective of this report is to demonstrate the correct informal report format, as well as give some general information about writing technical papers and reports. Most importantly, the entire report is written in third person, meaning there are no references to “I,” “we,” “us,” “you,” etc. For the purposes of demonstration, a laboratory exercise will be described in which the experimenter measured the values of various resistors. These resistors have a specified tolerance of +/-10%, and the measured data supports the manufacturer’s claim. Experimental Results Figure 1 shows how to determine the specified value for a given resistor. The most resistors use a 4-band color code, which is at the top of the chart. Figure [ 1 ]. Resistor color code chart [1]. Note the reference in the caption for Figure 1. This is the standard IEEE format for references [2], which are listed in the References section (below) in the order that they are cited. Also note that the picture was originally larger than is currently appears and was automatically pushed to the next page. In order to avoid unnecessary white space, the picture was made smaller so it would fit on the first page but not so small that it was no longer readable. Microsoft Word makes it easier to keep track of numbering (for figures, tables, equations, etc.) as well....

...Assisted Suicide – The Right to Choose Shannon Laing ENG-220 Carrington Assisted Suicide – The Right to Choose The right to choose whether to live or die is one that we all take for granted. This is a choice, that until we are faced with a grim reality, most people do not even think about. However, most people are not aware that where you live may dictate whether you even have a choice in the matter. Currently, there are three states which give you the right to choose, to live or die, in the face of a terminal illness. There are multiple terms to describe assisted suicide, depending upon what your opinion on this sensitive matter are. Whether we as people, or patients, as it would be, have the right to choose, depends invariably on where we reside, the legal judgements and the physicians viewpoint, and how we perceive this ethical decision. The three states that currently have the Death with Dignity Act in place are Washington, Oregon, and Vermont. Some people, including several national professional organizations within these states, object to the term suicide, stating that this implies some degree or type of mental illness. The term that these national organizations have adopted to use for assisted suicide is, patient directed dying or physician aid-in-dying. The reason that these organizations had to adopt a specific term is because some outdated terminology has taken on a social definition or a particular stance on this emotional and complex...

...Personal Essay Glenn B. Mayo Jr. ENG/ 220 University Academic Writing June 08, 2015 Mr. Steven Ryan Personal Essay “They don’t make ‘em like they used to!” This particular idiom is fitting for Mr. Bobby R. Ware (the subject of this paper and author’s grandfather). Admittedly, there are other influential individuals that had a hand in molding this writer; however none are more prominent than he. Lovingly referred to as “Pops” (formerly known as “Poppa”), Mr. Ware exhibited attributes that were nothing shy of fabled hero Hercules or even the Grecian mythological titan Atlas; who held up the celestial spheres. As the patriarch of the family, “Pops” fathered and raised eighteen children (6 naturally, 4 through marriage, and 8 through adoption) on a salary that never exceeded eleven dollars per hour without complaint (thus the herculean or Atlas like attributes). Admired by all that came in contact with him for his own unique blend of love, humor, and wisdom; “Pops” devoted his entire life to his family, country, and community until he was laid to rest Tuesday, June 2nd, 2015. Born to Mr. A. B. and Mrs. Decie Ware August 3, 1936; “Pops” would go on to graduate from Elm Street High School, Rockmart, GA in 1956 and enlist in the United States Army. After two enlistments with the United States Army as an “Infantryman”, “Pops” ultimately decided to cross into the blue and join the United States Air Force’s medical corps where he would continue to serve until 1978 when...

...Personal Essay Prewriting Candace Thompson ENG/220: University Academic Writing Professor Epi Enari April 26, 2015 Personal Essay Prewriting Writing is what you make of it. Choosing a topic that you are passionate about sets up for a potentially great essay. That is why after looking at the topic choices, the one that I would choose jumped out at me. I have chosen to write about an important event that had an impact on my life. Furthermore, the event that will be discussed is the moment I became a mother. Being that this is a topic that I feel passionate about, my game plan jumped out very quickly. The first prewriting strategy that came to mind to use was focused freewriting. I have a specific topic to narrow in on and it is a subject very near and dear to my heart. For me, this means that my words basically jump onto the screen. As I began writing, I had easily written a five hundred plus word piece of writing before u even realized it. This assignment made it necessary to experiment with more than one prewriting technique. This allows you to generate as many ideas as possible regarding your topic. And even though freewriting seemed like a great plan for my essay, I was more than willing to experiment with some other strategies to make my paper even better. That is why I also decided to try out both the outline and invisible writing techniques. Invisible writing is pretty similar to the free write technique that I originally used. However, by not being able...

...Comparison and Contrast: Football and Basketball Elizabeth Rivas Eng. /220 March 26, 2016 Jennifer Malia Football is America’s favorite sport. It is the number one watch sport in America. Basketball is not as much loved as football but it very much liked. Both sports has it high ends and its low ends, but both sports can be very intense and played but very talented people. Football was discovered by a player from Rutgers and Princeton on November 1869, but wasn’t until 1880s that a great rugby player from Yale, changed the rules which slowly transformed the game rugby into the new game of American football. 250 million player play football in over 200 nations. Its played with two teams and eleven player on the field and once. Offense, the team with control of the ball attempts to advance the ball up the field by either passing or running with the ball. The player with the ball must advance at least ten yards in four downs or plays. Defense the other team trying to gain control of the ball. Attempts to try to stop their advance and take control of the ball. Each time a player advances the ball into the end zone with a kick into the goal line it accumulates seven points. Basketball, also is played with two teams except there’s only 5 player each on the court at one time. The objective of the game is to advance the ball up the court with either passing or dibbling. The player than shoot the ball through the hoop attempting to make it and score. The score can be accumulated...

...LIFE CHALLENGING EVENT PAGE 1 Life Challenging Event Maureen Dela Cruz ENG/220 November 20, 2014 Professor Joseph Trimarche Life Challenging Event At one point in our lives, we encounter an event that changes us to be better or to be bad. Challenges that may or may not mold us to be better. This is what we call our turning point. My childhood years probably is not a typical experience or normal experience for most people. I grew up witnessing my dad ruin his life. He followed the wrong path. His responsibility of being a father to three children was forgotten. It was buried in the dark. There was not anyone or anybody I could turn to but myself. My mom was miles and miles away from me. Ocean was our distance. At age 15, I was pretty much on my own. I had to support myself financially. I had to work to be able to attend high school. It was during high school years when I felt I had hit rock bottom. I had to grow up fast. I had to become mature quickly than others. Yes, they call it public school, but public school does not mean everything comes free. I still needed money for my daily expense and projects. I can vividly remember what my father told me one evening. He tried to stop me from attending high school. According to him, going to school is a waste of time. I remember how he told me to just work and give him my paycheck to help the family. He did not believe I could make it. My heart sank upon hearing those words. I could not...

...Representation of Male and Female in Sci-fi Kevin Berry Eng/220 February 22, 2016 Chris Feriante Representation of Male and Female in Sci-fi In every movie genre there is a key role played by both genders specific to that genre. Both male and female roles that are portrayed in science fiction movies can be very distinguished between their genders. Males are usually rough looking and present themselves to be dim witted, but actually have lots of knowledge of their problems and are always dependable to save the day when conflict arises. Females are presented to be these pretty and frail things that always need rescuing, but are actually quite strong willed and intelligent and can think their way out of any situation. If these two qualities are not found on any of the main characters in the science fiction film, then the feature probably won’t be as appealing as a viewer would hope it to be. The males in science fiction films are usually the tough looking types that look like they can hold their own in a fight, but can be clumsy and makes poor decisions that constantly get them into trouble, like the character Malcom Reynolds from the show Firefly. He was a commander during a war which his side lost, and it shows on his face and in his movements, but he constantly messes up by walking into traps and dropping his weapon while trying to show off. But when it comes time to save the day, his training in the military kicks in, and he knows exactly what to do to get him and...
