Chelsea woke up and smiled. She knew that today was the day! She jumped up out of her bed so quickly that she almost stepped on Tid-Bit, her little dog. She bent down and hugged her dog and said, “Today is the day, Tid-Bit!” Of course the dog did not know what she meant and just looked at her with a silly dog look. Chelsea headed to her closet to get dressed for the day. She had a very special outfit in mind for today. It was a pair of white leggings with a pink t-shirt. The t-shirt was her favorite because it had a big, sparkled cupcake on it. After getting dressed, she ran to the restroom to brush her teeth and put her hair up into a ponytail. She knew her grandma would be happy that she had remembered to pull her hair back. Thinking of her grandma always made Chelsea smile. Her grandma was so much fun to be with and she liked to teach Chelsea new things. Today, finally, her grandma was going to teach Chelsea how to make cupcakes! But they were not just making any old cupcakes today. Today Chelsea’s grandma was going to teach her to make Ice Cream Cone cupcakes for her birthday party! Chelsea was so excited to get started that she was about to explode with excitement. Chelsea ran down the stairs and into the kitchen as fast as she could go. She was so happy to see her grandma was already there in her white apron with the words “Kiss the Cook” written across the front. Chelsea always laughed at that apron. Grandma had something behind her back. She told Chelsea to close her eyes. So Chelsea did as she was told and closed her eyes very tightly. Grandma said, “Okay, open them!” When Chelsea opened her eyes she could not believe it! She just started laughing because her grandma was holding up a bright pink apron with a big shiny cupcake with a crown on it and written in glitter was the words, “Cupcake Queen.” Her grandma said that it was a gift for her because she was going to be a cupcake queen after today. Chelsea put the new apron on right away and told her grandma she was ready to get started. Chelsea helped grandma measure the flour, sugar and other dry ingredients. Then she cracked open eggs and poured the milk. Grandma showed Chelsea how to place an ice cream cone in each little spot of the cupcake pan. Grandma also told Chelsea her secret to measuring the right amount into each cone was to use an ice cream scooper. Grandma let Chelsea fill each one of the cones and then grandma would put it into the oven for her. Chelsea was glad her grandma did that part because she did not want to get burned. Chelsea watched as the cupcakes baked and the cake rose up to make a big round top that looked like the cone was full of real ice cream. Chelsea and her grandma made three different flavors of cupcake in ice cream cones. They made chocolate ones with chocolate chip icing, strawberry with cream cheese icing, and her favorite was the banana with peanut butter icing. They made the icing look like it was a real scoop of ice cream on top of the cone. Grandma had all kinds of fun different colors of sprinkles and candy bits to put on top of the ice cream looking icing. Chelsea had so much fun having her friends come to look at the Ice Cream Cone cupcakes she and her grandma had mad for her birthday party. They all thought Chelsea did a good job. Her friends wanted to know if her grandma would teach them to make the Ice Cream Cone cupcakes too. Chelsea smiled knowing she had a fun time with her grandma and she loved to share with her friends.
