Vampires. Some people believe in them, some people don’t. Well especially in There’s this whole buzz about them everywhere you go. I’m April Jennings and IM a 16 year old vampire. So were my parents before they got disintegrated by the Overlords.

Okay so a few facts about me: I live with my Aunt Cathy, a normal human. From what I’ve picked up so far humans aren’t the nicest of people. They may be the strongest species on Earth at the moment but me and my species will soon takeover. When the time is right of course. You see with vampires it’s all about legends and myths about having an eternal life isn’t true at all. As humans rot, we disintegrate when the time is right. Just like my parents. Tiara Jennings and Hawk Jennings. They were a beautiful couple.
At my age my father was pale and impeccable jet black hair while my mother was a normal human tanned skin and brunette hair. I was looking through their old photos were I came across a picture of my parents my father wearing a black leather jacket and folded black jeans and my mother wearing a deep red dress up to her knees. She had a delicate plait running down her neck and a beautiful red bow holding it together. I remember this photo it was the day my mother was bit from my father. She had a mark on her sun kissed neck I could tell she was a bit worried yet she knew she did the right thing. She joined the right side.

-------------------------------------------------
Anyway enough about my parents for now. This is about me. April Jennings and our remaining family. We are a strong force. Yet humans don’t know it. We are some mythical joke to them. No proof of actual vampires according to scientists, because we are very sly.
-------------------------------------------------
As a normal teenage kid I go to high school. Kings Cross Academy. I’m also a cheerleader. How fun (!) Its shows a normal side to me so I figured it would be good to me. But my fellow cheerleaders are just in it because it’s all about being pretty. You see in the cheer group the cheer captain (Amanda Wilson) decides who gets in and she only picks pretty girls not there actual talent.
-------------------------------------------------
There is really nothing anyone can do about that because everyone that’s on the team just but kisses Amanda. Well except for me. I didn’t really understand why Amanda chose me until I asked her. After practise everyone started to pack up the hall equipment and go home and I approached Amanda. “Umm
-------------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------------- you something?” I said.
-------------------------------------------------
“Well, you just did.” She said in a bold tone.
-------------------------------------------------
I walked away slowly, then I couldn’t take it much longer.
-------------------------------------------------
“Why did you chose me to be on your team?” I said almost as bitter as her own tone.
-------------------------------------------------
Amanda looked at me dazed. Then she ruffled through her bag and sighed. She got out a picture of me (it was a picture from last year) I was sitting on a swing with my Mum on the other side. She was smiling at me. Her brunette hair was curled ever so delicately and her hazel eyes stood out. She was the prettiest vampire I’ve ever seen. Then there was me. I took my mother’s skin but my dad’s perspective of life. I was sitting on the swing gazing at her smiling also. My brunette hair was plated by her and I was wearing a white dress. I remember my mother adding the most beautiful daisies into my hair. I left like a princess.
-------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------------------
“Who is she?” Amanda said softer, I think she could tell I looked upset.
-------------------------------------------------
“She’s my mother.” I said looking down with a tear rolling down my rosy cheeks.
-------------------------------------------------
“Why did I never see her after this photo?” said Amanda holding it to herself this time gazing at her with almost a smile. I was still looking down. I didn’t know what to say. What to do at this moment. Why does she carry pictures of me?
-------------------------------------------------
“April?” said Amanda really soft she was holding my arm now giving a gentle nudge back to reality.
-------------------------------------------------
“She’s dead.” I said wiping back my tears standing almost firm. Amanda was curious. She wanted more answers.
-------------------------------------------------
“Your father-“
-------------------------------------------------
“Dead too” I said quickly. I really don’t like talking about this topic. Especially to Amanda Wilson.
-------------------------------------------------
“When?” She said looking at me in the eyes
-------------------------------------------------
“5th August 2014. The day after that photo was taken. My parents both died.”
-------------------------------------------------
“How?” she said holding the picture down focusing on my story.
-------------------------------------------------
“In a car crash.” I lied. Well, I couldn’t really tell her they got disintegrated and that they were vampires. Also that vampires can see in mirrors, photos and don’t live for eternity!
-------------------------------------------------
“Thank You. And well I think were done here.” She said picking up her designer gym bag.
-------------------------------------------------
“Minions!” she screamed and just then Jessica and Tiffany walked in and stood behind her. She looked at me up and down. “April Jennings, You’re pretty. I need a new minion. We WILL keep in touch.” She said with a loud voice again just our whole conversation never happened.
-------------------------------------------------
“Why do you have a picture of me and my mother in your bag?” I said almost shouting in the centre of the hall. She turned around and speed walked right over to me. She had her nose literally level to mine. Then she took a step back and gave me a pretty much fake smile.
-------------------------------------------------
“Let’s just say April Jennings that I’m onto you.” She said and bolted out of the door her minions at her side. That was a tornado.
-------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------------------
The Next day I woke up with Aunt Cathy screaming at me from across the hall. Then she entered my room.
-------------------------------------------------
“Your moving.” She said in a rough tone smoking a cigar in her dirty clothes with ashes all over it.
-------------------------------------------------
“What?” I said really confused and worried.
-------------------------------------------------
“Turns out your dad has a rich brother in those mansions on the opposite end as us. You’re
-------------------------------------------------
She slammed the door and her way down stairs. I always knew when Aunt Cathy was going up and down the stairs. Her footsteps are like elephants marching.
-------------------------------------------------
So much emotion came rushing through me. I first packed up all my stuff. Then washed up and put my leather jacket, black skirt and white t-shirt on followed with my black studded boots. If there from my dad’s side they have to be vampires! They just have to! There probably really nice to and apparently they were the ones offering me to stay there. Hopefully they have children my age. I’d feel like I’m not the only one. I was so excited and ready I just wanted to go.
-------------------------------------------------
Before I left I checked everything. The only things I left was the bed, wardrobe, dressing table, couch, TV and my shelfs.
-------------------------------------------------
I quickly said my goodbyes to Aunt Cathy and made my way outside the flat. I was escorted to a limo by these men dressed in black. ‘My uncle must be loaded!’ was the only thing coming across my mind. I couldn’t help but think how your life can change in just a day. I mean I didn’t even know my father had family, never mind a loaded brother! “Your uncle is very excited to meet you.” Said one of the men dressed in black. He opened the limo door for me and sat himself at the back of the limo. “You know my uncle?” I said very loudly. I just couldn’t help it! I was very excited. The man dressed in back took of his shades and placed them in his suit pocket. “Indeed I do Miss Jennings.” He said smiling. “My name is Mark and I am your personal security.” He said in a calm tone. Mark looked like he lived in a gym!
-------------------------------------------------
“Wow my own security?” I said astonished. “Wait why do I need my own security?” I was intrigued.
-------------------------------------------------
Mark chuckled and said with a calm touch “Your Uncle Henry is a rich man.” He explained “therefore there are a lot of people after his money. You are family. Which means you need to be protected by the press bombarding you and all that other stuff.” He said very informally. I think he was trying to get through to me properly by talking in terms I understand and showing me I can really trust him.
-------------------------------------------------
I looked around the limo overwhelmed by what just happened and very overwhelmed about the different choices of sweets in one limo. “Oh My God! Its jelly bears! And liquorice! And chocolate marshmallows! And white chocolate marshmallows! And strawberry laces! And cola bottles! And gummy worms!” I said all in one breath, eating my way through happiness. I offered some chocolate marshmallows to Mark but he chuckled and refused. He said I can go ahead to my desire but he needs to keep in a healthy shape. I shrugged my shoulders and carried on eating my way through.
-------------------------------------------------
The driver pulled up and parked up somewhere, but I was too distracted by the candy. “Ah, were here.” Said Mark with a smile. I think I know why Mark was recruited to me now. He really cannot stop smiling. Mark got out first holding out the door for me. I stepped outside and Mark offered me a napkin. “Thanks.” I said with a

-------------------------------------------------
“Noted.” I said
-------------------------------------------------
I took a moment to gaze at the house. ‘It’s beautiful’ I thought. We were at the gate and I was taking it in. It was 7 layers high. It was made out of marble. Massive shiny open windows with pearls out lining it. Two pillars on each side of the massive marble double doors with beautiful gold studded door knobs. A Ferrari parked in a giant car park with daisy bushes surrounding it. It felt like a dream house. In the centre of the outside was a beautiful fountain. It had marble dolphins around it with its top hole gushing out ocean blue water ever so beautifully. I and Mark walked to the entrance. There were two women there dressed in a maroon blazer hair tied up and both holding gold dishes. They were both standing by the door. When I approached them they both opened there dish holding up a plate. One had Belgium chocolates and other a velvet make up bag. The one holding the makeup bag said to me “Gifts from the Jennings, Miss Jennings. Your cousin thought you’d like the bag.” She said gesturing me to take it. I took a chocolate and the bag. “Thank you both.” I said smiling. They both smiled back nodding there head.
-------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------------------
“Jennalin and Belle.” Mark whispered to me. “You’ll see them often.”
-------------------------------------------------
Then Mark opened the door for me and there I was welcomed by my new family. As soon as I got into the door my uncle picked me up and spun me in the air. I couldn’t help but smile.
“Hello April! I’ve been waiting so long to see you. I am your Uncle Henry. The younger brother of your father. We met before 16 years ago, when you were new-born. Haven’t seen you since! Wow how much you’ve grown dear. Ever so pretty you are.” He looked so happy.
-------------------------------------------------
“Hi.” I said so overwhelmed. “I didn’t know I an uncle, I found out this morning and it was just really overwhelming honestly.” I said the words just gushing out of my mouth like id wanted to say that for my entire lifetime. He smiled and introduced me to the family.
-------------------------------------------------
“This is your Aunt Cassandra.” He said very pleasantly. Mark wasn’t kidding she is very posh. She bowed holding her plum long dress and gave me a smile. She came over and kissed me on both checks. She’s absolutely beautiful! She has long blonde hair opened and straight and the most expensive tiara I have ever seen in my whole life sat gracefully on her head pushing back her smooth silky hair. She took a step back and held both of my hands, staring into my eyes. “You’re beautiful, young April. Just like your mother.” She said. Her tone was very elegant. I could mllmme with a very tight hug. “Hello, oh were going to have so much fun together!” she said with a squeal tightly squeezing my hand. Sarah is very kind. I think she was just really excited she didn’t recognise how tight she was gripping onto me.
-------------------------------------------------
“Now Sarah, you guys can have some fun later right now dinner. April I can’t imagine what kind of food that Cathy made you.” She said in disbelief. Uncle Henry was intrigued.
-------------------------------------------------
“What kind of food did she make you, April?” he said softly
-------------------------------------------------
“Well she didn’t really cook much, I had to buy my own food. From a takeaway across the street.” I said
-------------------------------------------------
Aunt Cassandra shook her head. “I told you Henry, If only we could have took her in sooner.” She was standing at the table while Jennalin and Belle set the table. Taken me in sooner? What did she mean? There table was the size Aunt Cathy’s kitchen. Made out Oakwood and had a plum centrepiece in the middle matching Aunt Cassandras dress.
-------------------------------------------------
“Come now everyone, dinner is ready.” Said Aunt Cassandra sitting on a master chair. There are two chairs. One on the opposite end. One engraved Cassandra and the other Henry. I noted not to sit on those chairs. In fact I sat next to Sarah as she literally dragged onto the seat next to her. She is a very enthusiastic girl. And a great cousin also.
-------------------------------------------------
Dinner was getting served. A massive turkey in the middle while waiters cut through giving everyone a very big portion. Salads given around also. There were very rich salads, very crisp. There was caviar, dips, poached little potatoes, dumplings, Yorkshire puddings every posh food you could name. Aunt Cassandra could see the shock I was in a laughed. “Dear April, you’ll soon get used to it.” She said picking up some caviar. There was like 5 spoons, forks and knifes each to choose from I was lost in words. Sarah could tell “Use the 3rd Knife and Fork for your Turkey.” Sarah whispered to me. I did as she said and it looked like I did the right thing. “Thanks.” I whispered back. She nodded in welcome. “So April what brands of clothing are you into? Sarah is into Gucci. Her wardrobe is like a Gucci Spree.” Uncle Henry chuckled
-------------------------------------------------
“Brands? Umm well I’ve never really tried on any ever since my parents passed.” I said. Aunt Cassandra dropped her spoon onto her plate and stared at me gobsmacked. “Oh dear, that Aunt Cathy really got her numbers wrong. Don’t worry. First thing tomorrow morning You, Sarah and I will go shopping before my dress fitting at 3.” She said with a warm smile.
-------------------------------------------------
“How much are you planning to spend?” said Uncle Henry drinking his glass of red wine.
-------------------------------------------------
“1 million?” she said. I scoffed on my dumpling. “Whoa that sound WAY too much.” I said quickly. They both starting laughing
-------------------------------------------------
“Too less! Aunt Cassandra was joking young April. We need to get her whole wardrobe filled with clothes. Let’s say 5 million?” he said
-------------------------------------------------
“Agreed.” giggled Aunt Cassandra finishing of her salad. “Also April no I will not accept you saying something is too expensive. Remember were family. And in family money is just a number.” She said softly. “Got the message?” she said “Received.” I said with a smile.
-------------------------------------------------
She and Uncle Henry stood up. “Jennalin and Belle will escort you to your room.” Uncle Henry said linking arms his wife. “You and Sarah don’t stay up too late.” She said. She kissed both of us on the forehead and left.
-------------------------------------------------
I began picking up my plates then Sarah stopped me.
-------------------------------------------------
“What are you doing April?” she said giggling.
-------------------------------------------------
“Picking my dishes up.” I responded. “What’s funny?”
-------------------------------------------------
“C’mon April, You don’t work here silly!” She said now hurling off her chair. I started to laugh to.

“Sorry it’s just that Aunt Cathy made me clean up everything back there.” I said while a waiter took the plate out of my hand. Sarah stopped laughing. “Wow you really had it tough there.” She said. “Come.” She said holding my hand. “Let’s show you your new room then!” she said even more excited than me. We met Jennalin and Belle by the stairs. “Hey Jenn and Belle.” Said Sarah with a beaming smile. “Good evening Sarah and April.” They both said in sync. “Would you like us to escort you to April’s room?” said Belle. Sarah nodded and they both walked ahead in front of us. There hallway was massive. As we got to the 3rd floor there were 5 rooms. “Okay so here is my room.” She said pointing to one of the double white doors. Next to it was the guest room and opposite it was mine. The other room was a trampoline room. “Its quiet convenient when you’re angry. Instead of jumping on your bed in rage, you can just go into the trampoline room and let it out. Then you’ll start bouncing and you will forget about what you’re angry about. Plus you won’t get hurt because the walls and floors are made out of trampoline. And we have extended the ceiling a huge amount since the last accident.” She said looking down in embarrassment. I held her arm “Hey, it happens to all of us.” I said quickly. Everyone hits there head in the own personal trampoline room ceiling in their immaculate mansion (!) It’s a typical Saturday night (!)
“Anyway, enough of me. Let’s show you your room!” Sarah squealed in excitement. “Jenn. Belle. Do you mind?” she said rudely. I was shocked but they did it anyway.

I was rushed in and it was massive! It was 20 times Aunt Cathy’s living room! I had a King-size bed and at above the bed is a ceiling aquarium! There’s a massive flat screen TV, a master glass desk with a mac computer and my own mac laptop. Spoilt with choice! There was a massive dressing table, a walk in wardrobe with filters and buttons of which shoes and outfits to choose (which I haven’t bought yet.) There’s my own pick n mix stall with ALL the mouth-watering sweets you could think of. Soft pillows, my own couch which had buttons to turn it into a bed. A beautiful po it to be grand and have a statement.” She said in a calm voice.

“I love it! I absolutely love it! Thank you so much!” I said hugging her so tightly I was lost in words! Unimaginable! Extraordinary! Incredible! Amazing! I think she could tell I was very hyper and overwhelmed and I felt like I just won the X Factor.
“Oh April. It’s nothing really. I mean you deserve from all what you’ve #been through this last year.” She said.
“Jennalin! Belle! This floors not going to clean itself. Chop, chop. Its 7pm! Me and April are going to find my parents.” She said in a really sharp tone.
Wow. So that’s how Sarah is really like to her staff. It reminds me of Amanda Wilson a lot. They would get along well together. Or not maybe. Since they’re both very competitive. You know what they say ‘Blondes are a dangerous force to try to read.’ Or I might have just made that up a bit.
I think Sarah’s just going through some teenage drama or something. But I do feel very sorry for Jennalin and Belle. There are a lot of staff in Jennings Mansion. Over a hundred I’ve been told. Jennalin and Belle are the whole Jennings family agents. They come around and are very social with the family. But I do feel very sorry for them scrubbing floors. That’s not what they do. They give out little presents, open doors, leave messages, talk on calls for the Jennings, check emails that sort of stuff. They aren’t maids. But they can’t refuse something any Jenning says. So there stuck to cleaning my floor. It annoys me really, but Sarah deep down is a really nice person. I think she just doesn’t understand the different jobs staff provide, that’s all.
We went up to the 5th floor and found Aunt Cassandra and Uncle Henry in the office room. Uncle Henry talking to his personal assistant, Oliva and Aunt Cassandra opposite them on her own mac book replying to a personal email from the President.
“Well Hello little ones.” Said Aunt Cassandra with a welcoming smile. “Please do come in.” Uncle Henry said. We sat on the black office chair in front of them both, while Uncle Henry told Oliva to come back later. “What brings you here?” Aunt Cassandra said smiling. “Well I wanted to tell you something.” Said Sarah in a hurry. “I wanted to say it to all of you before the new school term arrives.” She said her palms sweating. “Oh dear, don’t sweat it’ll unconfutable.” She said in a snappy tone. “Where Belle and Jennalin?” said Uncle Henry. “I told them to clean April’s new floors, they needed the wax.” She said “They aren’t you’re slaves, Sarah,” he said “Cat, this is her fifth time now.” He said. “Well it’s time about now we do something together, not always pointing the finger at me.” “Oh dear, you know that wasn’t my intention now. It’s just that-“ “I want to go to Aprils School!” Sarah shouted out. Everyone was shocked. “Wait what? Sarah why?” I said so confused. Her school had everything! Aunt Cassandra closed her laptop and crossed her arms. “I mean I know I’m not a normal girl. I have maids and agents and security waiting on me day and night. I want at least something in my life just ordinary and normal. I mean April will be there. I won’t be alone. She can help me round. Were family.” She said. “Vampires in blood” she said giving a wink. The security by the doors looked at her in madness. Aunt Cassandra laughed “Oh dear you know vampires aren’t real.” She said reassuring the security. “Men can you please step outside. I want to talk heart to heart with the family.” She demanded. They did as they were told.
“Sarah!” she hissed. “You know you can’t utter that word when it’s not safe.” She whispered. “We were coming to that bit April, I’m sure your parents have told you before.” She said. I was confused. Is Aunt Cassandra a vampire? She could the expression on my face. “Yes dear, I am one of you guys as well. It happened the same way as your mother.” She said gently.
“Now Sarah, you may go to Aprils school. You’ve spared a few good points there.” She said, Uncle Henry nodding.
“Just don’t get carried away with boys in there.” Uncle Henry said with a soft tone.
“Trust me Mother and Father. I will be at my best. Thank you ever so.” She said taking a playful bow. Just then Jennalin and Belle entered the room. “Oh dear Belle and Jennalin. We are dearly sorry for the trouble Sarah has put you in. She will like the say something to you now.” Said Aunt Cassandra, looking right a Sarah sharply. Sarah stood up and approached them both.
“I’m truly sorry for speaking in such a tone to you Jenn and Belle. I hope I haven’t brought you a lot of trouble. I truly regret it.” She said like she had said it from memory. She must have done a lot of brutal things to those two women.
Aunt Cassandra and Uncle Henry looked pleased.
“Thank You for that sincere apology Sarah.” Jennalin said. She had a Chinese ethnic in her somewhere and also an English side. Belle said nothing just a nod and a smile.
They stood by the door, prepared to open it.
“Remember you two, were leaving the house at 10am. You better be ready. Jennalin will you please wake up Sarah at 9am and Belle the same for April?” she said firmly. She had a different firm voice when talking to staff. More professional.
“Yes Mrs. Jennings.” They both said in sync.
“You both may leave now April and Sarah.” You have a big day tomorrow and its getting late.
“Alright. Goodnight Mother, Goodnight Father.” She said hugging them both. “Oh do come her too April” said Aunt Cassandra reaching her arm out for me. She hugged me tightly so did Uncle Henry.
“Have a nice night you both.” Said Uncle Henry, giving us a smile.
I fell asleep like an angel. What a life-changing day. I can’t wait to hear about my dad’s and Uncle Henrys childhood stories. Also why they both talk about each other.
“Good morning April Jennings.” Beamed a familiar voice. It was Belle. “Oh my god! It wasn’t a dream! Belle you’re here! I have family from the other side!” I said screaming. Belle couldn’t help but laugh.
“April you are a joker.” She said chuckling “its 9am. Karen has run you a bath.” She said holding up two bottles. “Would you like strawberry and apple spiced bubbles?” she said.
“Hmmm! Apple Spiced Please!” I said bubbly. Just then Karen came in and took them both away. Waving the apple spiced bottle at me in a sign of good morning. I waved back in excitement.
“Are mornings always like this Belle?” I said way to hyper for a Sunday morning.
“Aha. Indeed. Well first thing on morning. The chefs will make breakfast. All the Jennings will have baths. Have breakfast. Then normally just get the things together and go to their own places.” She said with a smile. “Only that’s just a briefing.” She said.
I had my apple spiced bubble bath and it was the most soothing bath I’ve had in time! It reminds me of being back at the house with mum and dad. Only if humans could see the real behind us. They think were some joke. Vampires (!) Just some really pale, garlic hating, invisible on cameras and mirrors fantasy. Total weirdos. Don’t forget their stupid fangs (!) Ugh! Humans and there stupidity. I mean we don’t joke about humans. Why should they joke about us?

I came out the bath and I was told to put on this mustard coloured dress. It was beautiful.
“Your Aunt Cassandra has chosen this for you. “ Belle said handing it to me leaving me in privacy. I had put the dress on and glanced in the mirror. My hair was soaking but apart from that when I focused on the dress I looked amazing!
Just then Belle arrived back in. She told me to sit on the chair which came with my dressing table and I did. Just then she called people in. It was hair and makeup.
“Oh my god! Hair and Makeup! Hair and Makeup! You guys are doing my hair and makeup!” I screamed in excitement.
My hair and makeup crew was two 20 year old girls and an about 29 year old man.
One of the girls held up I strand of my hair. “Finally! A brunette!” she said happily. “Guys we have a brunette in the house!” she said high fiving her crew members in accomplishment. I blushed. “My mum was brunette, I inherited it from her.”
The girl looked in the mirror at me while I looked at her in the mirror. She smiled. “Well your mother gave you the most beautiful hair! Kudos to her.” She said. I smiled. “I’m Nina. Your personal stylist reporting for duty.” She said giving me a salute and a chuckle. “That’s Ben and Brittany.” She said as they both gave a wave. Brittany and Ben were setting up all their makeup and hair equipment.
“How’s it living like a queen your majesty.” Said Nina laughing. “To be honest with you it’s very overwhelming. Yesterday my bedroom was like a shoebox and my Guardian was a 45 year old smoking addict. And today well I’m living with my posh Aunt, Uncle and Cousin who happen to have a mansion and are millionaires!” I said so fast, but Nina caught every word. I really like her. So down to earth. “Well princess I think you should ride on this one. I mean a lot of things have changed for you but that’s life. It’s a rollercoaster. And rollercoasters have scary and amazing experiences. Just let it do its thing.” She said while curling hair.
“Yeah, I agree with Neenz. I mean let everything space out gal. Plus you got the crew if anything’s not well for ya.” She said chewing gum applying foundation on my face.
“Thanks Brittany.” I said
“Please boo. Call me Britt.” She said with a wink. “Close your eyes please April.” Said Ben. “Ugh Ben loosen up will ya pet.” Said Brittany filing my nails and applying fake nails over them then filing them. “I’m loosened Britt.” He said looking into the mirror at my worried face. He saw I wasn’t keen on the nails. “Britt’s an absolute pro at nails, April. She could make a new-borns tiny nails into a cute version of Beyoncé’s signature nails.” He said putting red lipstick on me. It wasn’t bright red. It was more a maroon kind of colour. A dark rose. It was beautiful.
“Were done!” said Nina packing up her curler while Brittany and Ben putt away there makeup supplies.
“See you tomorrow!” said Nina and gave me an air kiss. Brittany gave me a tight squeeze and Ben tilted his hat in a sign of goodbye with a smile.
Such nice people. I looked at myself in the mirror. I looked beautiful! I had loose curls at the bottom of my brunette hair. Highlighted cheekbones and a beautiful full red lip colour followed with my mustard colour dress up to my knees.
“You look very pretty!” squealed Belle. “Let me escort you down dear. The others are waiting for you.”

...The Hunger Games: Action-film feminism is catching fire  Lisa Schwarzbaum Burning up Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss Everdeen is both strong and vulnerable – a new kind of action heroine who has powered The Hunger Games: Catching fire to a $158m US debut. (Lionsgate) Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss Everdeen is a new type of female action film icon, and moviegoers should be very excited about that, writes Lisa Schwarzbaum. As Catching Fire ignites on movie screens around the world, this is what we know about the 21st Century heroine called Katniss Everdeen: she is strong but also soft. She is brave but she has doubts. She is a phenomenal fictional creation, yet is real enough that moviegoers can draw inspiration from her values, her resourcefulness, and her very human inner conflicts. And she is played by Jennifer Lawrence, who appears not only to be handling her current duties as Hollywood’s finest model of well-adjusted millennial female stardom but doing so with charm. Everdeen and Lawrence: golden girls both. Personified in Lawrence’s lithe movements and cool, focused gaze, Katniss is a brave, resourceful and independent-minded fighter; but she is also a troubled and vulnerably guilt-ridden human being. Nina Jacobson, the producer of the Hunger Games film franchise, puts it this way: “She is a singular heroine in that the burden of survival weighs on her. She has a ton of survivor’s guilt.  And she keeps surviving.” Girl on fire It is strange that behaving like a well-adjusted...

Idioms and Expression

...Idioms and Expressions by David Holmes A method for learning and remembering idioms and expressions I wrote this model as a teaching device during the time I was working in Bangkok, Thailand, as a legal editor and language consultant, with one of the Big Four Legal and Tax companies, KPMG (during my afternoon job) after teaching at the university. When I had no legal documents to edit and no individual advising to do (which was quite frequently) I would sit at my desk, (like some old character out of a Charles Dickens’ novel) and prepare language materials to be used for helping professionals who had learned English as a second language—for even up to fifteen years in school—but who were still unable to follow a movie in English, understand the World News on TV, or converse in a colloquial style, because they’d never had a chance to hear and learn common, everyday expressions such as, “It’s a done deal!” or “Drop whatever you’re doing.” Because misunderstandings of such idioms and expressions frequently caused miscommunication between our management teams and foreign clients, I was asked to try to assist. I am happy to be able to share the materials that follow, such as they are, in the hope that they may be of some use and benefit to others. The simple teaching device I used was three-fold: 1. Make a note of an idiom/expression 2. Define and explain it in understandable words (including synonyms.) 3. Give at least three sample sentences to illustrate how the expression is used...

Bloodlines of the Illuminati

...Bloodlines of Illuminati by: Fritz Springmeier, 1995 Introduction: I am pleased & honored to present this book to those in the world who love the truth. This is a book for lovers of the Truth. This is a book for those who are already familiar with my past writings. An Illuminati Grand Master once said that the world is a stage and we are all actors. Of course this was not an original thought, but it certainly is a way of describing the Illuminati view of how the world works. The people of the world are an audience to which the Illuminati entertain with propaganda. Just one of the thousands of recent examples of this type of acting done for the public was President Bill Clinton’s 1995 State of the Union address. The speech was designed to push all of the warm fuzzy buttons of his listening audience that he could. All the green lights for acceptance were systematically pushed by the President’s speech with the help of a controlled congressional audience. The truth on the other hand doesn’t always tickle the ear and warm the ego of its listeners. The light of truth in this book will be too bright for some people who will want to return to the safe comfort of their darkness. I am not a conspiracy theorist. I deal with real facts, not theory. Some of the people I write about, I have met. Some of the people I expose are alive and very dangerous. The darkness has never liked the light. Yet, many of the secrets of the Illuminati are locked up tightly simply because secrecy is a way...

La Singularidad

...on the razor edge of the Event Horizon of the Singularity. That this sublime juxtapositional tautology has gone unnoticed until now is itself remarkable. We're so exquisitely privileged to be living in this time, to be born right on the precipice of the greatest paradigm shift in human history, the only thing that approaches the importance of that reality is finding like minds that realize the same, and being able to make some connection with them.
