Enjoyable College Experiences

My most enjoyable college experience thus far would have to be making new friends. I came into ASUN-Jonesboro only knowing about 10 people. Coming from a small town with a graduating class of 99 students, everyone knew everyone. I am not a shy person by any means but I was way outside of my comfort zone starting out. Being the girl who sat by herself was not something I was used to! There was always someone who I knew to sit with in high school but that was not the case now. After the first week I decided that I was not going to be inside that shell anymore. I was way too outgoing in high school to be quiet in college! So the next week I sat beside someone new in each class. I just politely sat down at a table of people in the lobby one day and said, “Look I feel weird sitting by myself, can I sit with you guys?” and they were all cool with it. Ever since then, I have made many new friends! Making new friends is something that I will cherish as a college student. In high school you had to sort of put up with the bull from everyone to keep out of the drama and the small town gossip. College friendships are so much more different. They are actual friendships, you just have to put yourself out there and talk to people. You can tell by the first conversation you have with someone if you like his or her personality or if you don’t! My two most valuable college experiences thus far would be responsibility and the appreciation of knowledge. College has taught me to take advantage of actually learning. In high school making good grades was easy if you were “smart”. Never taking a book home and keeping a 3.65 is something that doesn’t happen very often but it was easy for me in high school. I never tried nor did I really even care. High school was a place that I despised and I skipped every single day that I possibly could. College is so much more than that! Going

High School vs College

...last year, you are more than likely wondering what is expected at college. When I first started college I was so nervous because I didn’t know what to expect or what was expected of me. Now, I feel college life is so much more enjoyable then high school. I have so much more control over my education and more freedom. This paper will address the main differences from high school to college such as college scene, academic level, and rewarding experience. A college scene has a different scene then high school. Social activities are one of the biggest differences transitioning from high school to college. I think the social scene is so much more different than high school because you have more freedom such as choice of college and residence. You have the ability to choose where to reside at whether it is on campus or outside of campus. Most students attending college live on campus and experience the unsupervised and independent lifestyle. At college you will be experiencing your own rules and living on your own. Therefore, you will be subjected to different social activities. This means they are subjected to pressure and temptations. It is important to choose activities that you are comfortable with and not letting someone else pressure you into something you don’t believe in. At college people attend from different backgrounds and places. There is a larger and more variety group of students attending college than there is in high school. In high school you typically grow...

First Week of College Reflection

...A person’s first week at college is one of the most significant transition periods in their life. It is ultimately one of the most surprising, frightening, and enjoyable experiences they will have. My first week at NDSU was no exception to this. There were things about my first week that I was completely not expecting, things that didn’t surprise me at all, and things that have been very rewarding. First, multiple things about my first week of college surprised me. One of these things was that the days don’t go by nearly as slowly as I thought they would. In high school, I was at school from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. on any given day, and no matter what, the time seemed to go unbearably slow. I thought that I would be experiencing the same feeling of the day dragging on in college. Because I don’t live on campus, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays I have a 5 p.m. class, on those days I am typically on campus from 9:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. I didn’t think I would be able to handle long school hours again, especially hours even longer than I was at high school. However, there are so many ways to stay busy at NDSU that the hours practically fly by in a comparison to high school. The seemingly shorter school days are just one of the things that surprise me about NDSU. Second, there were several things about college that met my expectations exactly. For example, going into college I figured that there was going to be a very large amount of homework in comparison to high school. I was...

Even if you went to a different elementary school, is it easy to make new friends when you have the same class with them every other day for the entire school year. Next, some people might join throughout the year. In fact this happened in my class this year, a person joined my band class in the second nine weeks and we have been really good friends ever since. Making Choices

...private office, or clinic. Their patients could range from aging woman, an athlete, an unfortunate accident victim, or someone with lower back pain. Saul Wischnitzer projects his research by explaining that it's a physical therapists job to first test then measure the patients’, muscle strength, coordination, motor function, and a range of motion. After a certain number of sessions, the physical therapist must determine a process for the treatment so the patient can regain mobility. They specialized process should help relieve the pain and assure the patient everything will be okay. Working as a physical therapist gives a person the satisfaction of helping people achieve a goal with gradual progress and seeing them once or twice a week. The experience a physical therapist takes away from going to work every day includes meeting new people and having conversation with new individuals. Also knowing that physical therapists earn a good amount of money attracts some people to this occupation. Physical therapy is a modern career that is exciting, challenging, and allows a person to be social. A job in the physical therapy field requires a person to obtain a high school diploma. Certain classes are required to get the bachelor or doctorate degrees needed to have the opportunity to get hired in this field. A passed licensure exam is required by most states in order to work with a patient. One also has to acquire credits from a physical therapist educational program. According to the American...

Role of Technology in College and Careers

...pure science (Dictionary.com). The computer, for example, is a common resource I use every day, even for the simplest tasks. Research, navigation, weather, sports, whatever it may be, have never been so easy. I find out now that I am in college, just how essential technology is. I believe the role of technology in college and careers is to create higher education, help make things more accessible, thus making our jobs or learning experiences easier and enjoyable for people but, just as technology may be beneficial to people, there can also be some hindrances. Technology is beneficial to me in college in so many ways. To begin with, technology helps me learn and get my school work done efficiently. By using laptops, smartphones, IPods, and things such as those, I believe my learning is better because I am more of a visual learner and growing up in this day and age, it is something that I am fairly comfortable with. For example, when I was in high school, we had universities come and present their schools to us and one of the schools used Apple IPhones in their presentation. We answered questions on the IPhone and the presenter knew right away those who answered correctly and those who answered wrong. This, to me, makes learning more fun and enjoyable. It is almost a requirement...

College Of Human Ecology Experience Analysis

...1. How do you describe your College of Human Ecology experience (beyond that it is a small community within the context of a larger institution) to others? Feel free to include any surprises and/or challenges. If I had to describe the College of Human Ecology to other people, I would emphasize one word: interdisciplinary. One of the most unique aspects of the College of Human Ecology is how interdisciplinary the majors are. The curriculum structures of each major is very open and flexible, which encourages the students to pursue a lot of different academic disciplines and form dynamic connections between them. For me, personally, as a premed, the College of Human Ecology is really going to prepare me for the medical field because it will teach me to look at problems from a variety of different perspectives. Today’s medical problems are so complex, and they cannot be solved from purely a “hard science” perspective anymore. The classes HumEc encourages me to take will help me look at these medical problems using knowledge of health policy, public health, psychology, and even nutrition. 2....

Personal Narrative: My First Experience At The Perelman Theater

...My first experience at a classical concert took place on Friday, November 14, 2014 at The Perelman Theater. I got to see the quartet Quatuor Ebene. The hour and fifteen minute performance was very enjoyable. The Perelman Theater is a 650 seat recital hall. The room is designed to create an intimate feel with 3 levels of seating. The room has amazing acoustics. Chairs in the first level of seating are able to retract in order to create a deeper stage, complete fly-loft, and orchestra pit. I sat in the third level of the theater due to my tickets being college priced tickets. Although I was higher up I was still able to be very involved in the performance. I think no matter where you sit in the theater the sound quality and experience will be the same. The smaller setting allowed for a more personal experience....

The Super Bowl and NBA playoffs may be exciting too, but the key difference between professional athletes and collegiate athletes is that college athletes do not get paid. The passion is obviously there, so it makes the game more intense, more energetic, and more intense.
