...Hero Essay Everyone needs a hero. Nowadays there are songs which lyrics rhyme about heroes. Enrique Iglesias’s song “Hero” is about the love he can show for his female companion. Along the same line Mariah Carey song “Hero” will go down as one of her all time greats. No matter the substance, the bottom line is that people look up to their heroes and are influenced by them, especially kids. Kids, however, have a different way of choosing their heroes. “Faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, and able to leap tall buildings in a single bound.” We can thank the creator of Superman, Jerry Siegel, for his character has inspired many youngsters, including myself, to be that hero we admire. Many kids look up to fictional characters and sports figures as heroes, but it’s the everyday run of the mill people we see all the time who possess the real qualities of a hero. Repeated times in my childhood I would recall tying a towel on my back and running around pretending I was Superman. I would “fly” over cars and obstacles, stop invisible bullets with my hands and rescue the beautiful damsel in distress. Whatever the scenario would, I knew I was unstoppable. I would pretend to be fast, strong, intelligent, and loyal, all the qualities I believed a good superhero should exhibit. Little did my young mind realize, I would also inherit these qualities as I got older. Taking a hundred eighty degree turn away from fictional characters,...

...PHILIPPINE AIR FORCE AIR EDUCATION AND TRAINING COMMAND AIR FORCE OFFICER SCHOOL Col. Jesus Villamor Air Base, Pasay City COMMANDANT’S PAPER THE IMPACT OF INTERNAL SECURITY OPERATION IN THE STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT OF AIR DEFENSE WING CHAPTER I THE PROBLEM AND ITS SETTING 1.1 INTRODUCTION "Victory smiles upon those who anticipate the changes in the character of war, not upon those who wait to adapt themselves after the changes occur." - Giulio Douhet, Command of the Air A fitting quotation by Douhet for the case of Air Defense Wing wherein the organization was not able to anticipate the streamlining strategy of the government, leaving the Wing no choice but to adapt to the changes in the Command’s thrust of prioritizing Internal Security Operations rather than Territorial Defense Operations to prove its relevance as one of the primary unit of the Philippine Air Force. Caught unprepared of the significant changes in governments thrust, ADW is now suffering in terms of its force structure and budget allocation as it continues to fight for its relevance and existence as one of the premier unit of the PAF. The Background and Rationale of the Study Budget Allocation Statistically, the lowest percentage of allocation in National Budget is in Defense. Debt service gets the biggest share in the proposed budget at 34.1 percent. Social services and economic services follow with 27.9 percent and...

...Graduate School Writing a research proposal for a PhD or MPhil application: A guide for potential students Some Schools and Departments may require you to write an outline research proposal and submit this with your application to study for a PhD or MPhil. The content and structure of the proposal will inevitably vary depending on the discipline area and the nature of the project you wish to pursue. In some cases you may be provided with some guidance in terms of what information should be included in the proposal and, if this is the case, you should read this carefully and follow it. However, where this is not the case, the general guidance, and suggested headings, provided here should help you to structure and present your ideas clearly in your proposal. Your overall aim is to produce a research proposal that is clear and coherent in every respect. You should therefore avoid the use of overly long sentences and of technical jargon. It is important that the proposed research is realistic and feasible so that the outcomes can be achieved within the scale of a typical research degree programme, which is typically three years full-time for a PhD (or two years for an MPhil). Although you should write the proposal yourself, it is best if you discuss its contents with your proposed supervisor before you submit it. Your research question For most projects there is usually one main question that you would like to address, which can sometimes be broken down into several sub-questions...

It can be caused by both good and bad experiences. When people feel stressed by something going on around them, their bodies react by releasing chemicals into the blood. These chemicals give people more energy and strength, which can be a good thing if their stress is caused by physical danger. But this can also be a bad thing, if their stress is in response to something...
