...Submitted to: Mrs. Carina E. Fernandez INSTRUCTOR Submitted by: Camela R. De Guzman BSIT-4 Introduction Automobile, Inc., a national firm that markets a software package for car dealers. The manual records that it maintains do not accurately reflect the inventory status - the numbers and types of automobiles and trucks on the lot. When a new shipment arrives, it takes several days to update the inventory records. A salesperson might have a buyer, who wants a particular car, and the car may be on the lot, but the salesperson will never know it. A sale is lost because of poor information. Another problem arises when two salespersons sell the same car to two buyers. This happens because the inventory records are not updated immediately after a sale. The following are the problems encountered under the present system: * Do not accurately reflect the inventory status. * It takes several days to update the inventory records. * Poor information. * Sell the same car to two buyers. In SMART, these problems are easy to solve. In view of the fact that SMART is an internationally competitive and credible in software business around globe we assure our clienteles that we will be giving only the best out of our products. The SMART (Sales Management for Automobile Retail Trade) is the primary tool information source of business professionals who routinely engage in controlling the flow of information into, around and out of...

...San Mateo, Kristina Marie (.) Ent102 MANILA FAME Reaction Paper Last Sunday, me and my co-entrep students went to MANILA FAME which was held in SMX Convention Center. As I walk through those furniture and handcrafts, I was really amazed on what I saw. I was stunned and really delighted. To think that there`s so much things you can do in an object as long as you have wide imagination and creativity, you can design and even put up a very unique thing that can change the world`s perception in furniture and handicrafts. And in that object you created you can earn a lot of money. In just a simple chair, a very simple chair, you can earn 300,000, just like that. Seriously, it invites people to sit and appreciate the art and the couches with oversized pillows make you want to linger. Those seats look comfortable. The tables I saw are super cool. I also appreciate the bed, the unique clothes made of pineapple, the handicrafts. Very nice. And of course, who wouldn`t notice the chandeliers (can we call it that?) is awesome. The wires are not as noticeable as I thought they would be. I really like the use of the unique couches, how they match the designs. Such a great idea. There certainly is a lot to see. And, I think the large pillows (with the printed animal on it) are pretty. And the chairs, it reminds me of antique stores whose owners place objects on the chairs to discourage customers from sitting on them (usually with good reason). Upon seeing the designs of the chairs, I...

.... Franz Diaz B.S. Entrep 4 Business Policy Body Shop Case Summary The Body Shop case is an interesting case study into the miscommunication of owners and stockholder interests with regard to financial conditions. Anita Roddick, the founder of The Body Shop had no financial experience and thought that all she needed to do was expand her business and the financing would take shape as she developed her business. While Anita’s product concept of a natural skin-care line was good; her lack of experience in financial matters took its toll on her business. The growth expansion of the firm was too rapid and sales, margin and stock prices began to decline as a result. The growth rate quickly declined as competitors such as Bath & Body Works flooded the market. This decrease in market share led to poor decision making by the owner. The Body Shop quickly saturated the market and began to dilute their brand name. It quickly became a mass-market line franchised to every suburban shopping mall and street corner. In 1998, many attempts to strategize the company were employed by both Anita Roddick and Patrick Gourney. Unfortunately, the damage had already been done. Revenues continued to growth; however, pre-tax profits still declined in the years that followed. In 2001, Gourney attempted to reinvent the company and employed several strategies that continued to fail by suggesting increased investment is stores, and attempted to achieve operation efficiencies...

...The Positive Effect of a Market Orientation on Business Profitability: A Balanced Replication Stanley F. Slater UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON, BOTHELL John C. Narver UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON, SEATTLE Narver and Slater’s (1990) finding of a positive relationship between market orientation and business profitability is retested in a broad sample of product and service businesses operating in a variety of industries. The assessment of the extent of market orientation is provided by the chief marketing officer, and profitability is assessed by the general manager, thus avoiding the problem of common respondent bias. The analysis of the influence of culture on business performance is extended by including a measure of entrepreneurial orientation in the study. The influence of a market orientation on business profitability is then compared with that of an entrepreneurial orientation. The regression coefficient for market orientation (.662) is higher in this replication than in the original study (.501), and the pairwise correlation coefficient for the relationship between market orientation and profitability is very similar in both studies (.362 and .345, respectively). No relationship is found between entrepreneurial orientation and business profitability. Thus, by drawing a sample from a more diverse population, avoiding the common respondent bias problem, and comparing the effect of a market orientation to that of an entrepreneurial orientation, the findings from this balanced replication...

Summary/Abstract History Henry Sy Sr. Henry Sy, Sr. (Chinese: 施至成; pinyin: Shī ZhìChéng; born December 25, 1924) is a Chinese Filipino businessman and the founder and chairman of SM Prime Holdings, the largest retailer and shopping mall operator in the Philippines. He earned his Associate of Arts degree in Commercial Studies at Far Eastern University in 1950. Acknowledged as the country’s "Retail King," he has come a long way from the modest shoe store he set up in Quiapo in 1946, to become Asia's biggest shopping mall operator with over 30 malls throughout the Philippines. He is the Philippines' richest man, gaining 1.4 billion dollars in 2007, amid the global financial crisis. The huge gain was due to his holding company, SM Investments Corp., which has interests in Banco de Oro Universal Bank, inter alia. Forbes magazine's 2008 list of 40 wealthiest Filipinos, revealed the Sy family's net worth was 3.1 billion dollars. Earlier, he was the 2nd wealthiest individual in the Philippines, next to Lucio Tan and (as of 2008) 843rd in the world. Sy is considered a Tai-Pan or tycoon of Asia. The Sy group is the operator of Banco de Oro Universal Bank and owner of China Banking Corporation. In 2006, he bought the remaining 66% of Equitable PCI Bank, the Philippines 3rd largest lender, in which he already had a 34% stake, and merged it with Banco de Oro Universal Bank in 2007....
