According to Pinchot University (2015), "Entrepreneurship is the willingness to take risks and develop, organize and manage a business venture in a competitive global marketplace that is constantly evolving. Entrepreneurs are pioneers, innovators, leaders, and inventors." (1). Entrepreneurship is when someone is willing to take the risk needed to build the company from the ground up and stay actively evolved with different ideas. There are both positive and negative aspects of entrepreneurship. One big controversy is Obama's Affordable Care Act. There have been several changes. A few of the changes that I am aware of is the new 3D mammography, electronic medical records, and transcription. While there are many positive and negative aspects of Entrepreneurship is all comes down to an opinion. I honestly believe that there are so many positive as well as negative aspects that affect the health care system. Many feel that the Obama's Affordable Care Act is a negative thing for the healthcare industry while many others feel it is a great thing. I honestly believe that it is a positive thing on one hand then a bad on the other. I feel that it has had a positive aspect because it forces everyone to have health insurance. I feel this is a positive thing because it helps the hospitals reduce their loss as many used the Emergency Room as their primary doctor. With the Affordable Care Act in place less and fewer people are going to use the Emergency Room as their doctor's office as they will now have a co-pay even with the emergency room. While there are still going to be those who don't have medical insurance it will help reduce the unpaid medical bills. I feel that Obama's Affordable Care Act is a bad thing because while many cannot honestly afford insurance. The bad thing with not being able to afford it is you get penalized at the end of the year on your taxes. I

Entrepreneurship Reflection

...Entrepreneurship Reflection Essay Entrepreneurship is the process of starting a business or organization within a field that is designed to attract a target audience and provide supplies to meet their demands. The health care industry is very complex and thrives on advances within the field and in medical technology advancement. Most entrepreneurs within the health care industry are looking to expand the access and advancements within health care. There are pros and cons to entrepreneurship within the health care industry. Positive Effects of Entrepreneurship on Health Care One of the most positive effects of entrepreneurships within the health care has been in the new ways of technology and the ability they have on the innovation of using that technology to help in treatment and care of patients. Advances in technology are allowing for patients to receive quality that is needed. Technology has helped in the research and detection of diseases and illnesses. This research has then in turn helped health care professionals to be better prepared for illness and diseases and take possible precautions to help with the spread of these illnesses. Another positive effect of entrepreneurship on the health care field, is the establishment of alternative urgent treatment to a primary physician’s office or to the trip to the emergency room. Concierge and direct primary care locations can now be located in local pharmacies such as CVS and Walgreens. These local minute clinics and urgent...

Entrepreneurship

...A brief discussion of the relationship between entrepreneurship, innovation and economic development as well as the role of sustainability in the relationship Introduction: The origin and development on theory As early as the 17th century, the French term "entreprendre "appeared in economics, which evolved into "entrepreneur" as commonly used (Dees,1998). The concept of entrepreneur keeps on developing and varies with the development of socio-economics. Richard Cantillon published his in 1775 “Essay on the Nature of Trade in General" (Murphy,1986). Since then, entrepreneurship was given a definition in the perspective of behavior, including decision-making, sound judgment, supervision of production, innovation, and resource reallocation (Herron, 1993). The new definition of the "entrepreneur" credited by French economists was put by Jean Baptiste in the 19th century "the entrepreneur shifts economic resources out of an area of lower and into an area of higher productivity and greater yield". In this time, entrepreneurship was given the meaning of "creating values"(Dees, 1998). In 1911, “entrepreneur as innovator” was put forward by Schumpeter. In his theory, entrepreneurship nearly the same as innovation is thought to be a critical factor in the promotion of economic development. This theory was unceasingly completed by Schumpeter. Through the process of “disruptive innovation” (Schumpeter, 1942), entrepreneurs create economic opportunities and obtain economic benefits by causing...

Importance of Ethics

...The Importance of Ethics in Entrepreneurship This essay emphasizes the importance of ethics as a basis for successful entrepreneurship in any environment and under all circumstances. Let us first look at the meanings of entrepreneurship and ethics, respectively. Hisrich, Peters, and Shepherd (2010) defines entrepreneurship as “the process of creating something new with value by devoting the necessary time and effort; assuming the accompanying financial, psychic and social risks and uncertainties; and receiving the resulting rewards of monetary and personal satisfaction.” The definition of “being an entrepreneur” is different for different people, but it is generally agreed that behavior includes initiative taking; the organizing and reorganizing of social and economic mechanisms to bundle resources in innovative ways; and the acceptance of risk, uncertainty, and/or the potential for failure (Hisrich, 2010). Drucker (as cited in deLeon, 1996) recognizes that entrepreneurship is fundamentally a moral enterprise, for which the goals or values that characterize it are more important than means. In the United States, the entrepreneur has long been admired and emulated. News stories about successful business founders like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Ted Turner, Mrs. Fields and others are prominent in the media (Payne & Joyner, 2006). Many successful entrepreneurs are put forth as role models for society. (Payne & Joyner, 2006) According to Miller (2011), “Ethics is a habit developed...

My Paper

...Preface/Unit Reflection I had many thoughts about my audience and the format of this essay before I started, but as I haven’t done essays in a long time (business majors usually focus on projects, not essays), I decided that I wanted to write my first project in a straightforward fashion. I feel that I need to get the rust off my writing, so to speak I chose to write to the rest of the class because 1) They will be peer reviewing it, so it’s convenient for them that they are the target audience and 2) I could express my thoughts in a straightforward fashion that my audience can relate to very well, as they are in the same position as I am. I wrote this essay as if I was writing to an intellectual friend who is also taking this class, is very interested in English and entrepreneurship, and wanted to see how the two topics coincided through the lens of genre analysis. I assumed that the reader knew the definitions of materiality, genre and genre analysis, and discourse community, as the intended reader is in this class and has done the readings. Surprisingly, I learned a lot about my field through reading and writing for this unit. I really loved the challenging readings, as it seemed as if I were “getting smarter” reading them. Pushing my brain processing abilities is great for my brain’s capabilities, which I value. As I wrote, I would constantly think of new ideas about my field, such as the materiality of online articles in an entrepreneur’s life, and think hard. I appreciate...

Rhetorical Perspectivism

...think that knowledge is constructed by the discourse and does not exist until it is built, that is the search that creates knowledge. Perspectivists, such as Hikins and Cherwitz, come along and say that everything takes place from different contexts- meaning knowledge exists, but we see it from our lens- essentially to reconcile two seemingly contradictory ideas as ‘two sides of the same coin’. Perspectivism says ‘that reality is independent of human attitudes, beliefs, and values’. In essence, Hikins and Cherwitz’s claim says that while an independent knowledge may exist, we all see from our own context and these all contribute to a better understanding of the knowledge that exists independently of us, but is also influenced by us. This essay will illustrated rhetorical perspectivism in my high school and college educational experiences and the application of the theory in what I’ve observed until today. Hikins and Cherwitz frame this trait as important to the role of modern education....

...WBS Reflection on Creativity and its interdisciplinary perspectives Images of Creativity module 0906353 01.01.2012 Creativity Reflection “Globally creativity and the creative industries are the success stories of the new century. Creativity once considered to be the work of God, or laterally to be a work of God-like artistgenius, has been democratized” (Bilton C. 2007). Today everyone aspires to be creative, so do managers. These were my thoughts about creativity and its position in the world when I was just starting this fascinating module. It's a shame that now I can't exactly state what I was expecting from this module at that particular moment in time, but I can definitely say that since than my knowledge and experience in this area has widened dramatically. First of all I was really surprised by the way the module had been run and was captivated by it. An enormous number of tasks have been given to us throughout the course, some of which were really challenging for those who couldn't get away from their comfort zones. Teaching through playing and engaging is a very helpful tool which I think has never been used before within the walls of our university, and this gave us all an unforgettable experience. Secondly during our learning we had a new visiting lecturer every week who gave us his own view and perspective on creativity based on his knowledge and work experience. As I’ve mentioned in my essay most of the lecturers had their own subjective views, however...

The Three Pillars

...Three Pillars Essay Harun Murage Grand Canyon University Entrepreneurship An entrepreneur is an individual who organizes and manages any initiative, particularly a business venture, typically with substantial creativity and risk, (Bolton and Thompson, 2000) have defined an entrepreneur as “an individual who usually makes and revolutionizes to build something of recognized importance around apparent openings”. According to (Onuoha, 2007), entrepreneurship is defined as the practice of starting a new venture particularly a business in response to a spotted window of opportunities. (Lowell & Sharon, 2001) entrepreneurship is the procedure of designing, starting and running a new business, which typically begins as a small business offering a product or service for sale or hire. It’s the capacity to organize resources for a profitable venture. Entrepreneurship entails total creativity and innovation, and usually, hard work to achieve the set objectives. It could be new and different ways of doing something much better, smarter, simpler and effectively. Entrepreneurship is a drive or a spirit to inspire others in what they do and how they have succeeded in the business. Ethics Ethics means doing what is right in a responsible and accepted manner, for example, putting something back where you found it, not yelling to your colleagues, always saying sorry and so on. (Rushworth, 2009) states that "standard definitions of ethics have typically included such phrases as 'the...
