AFTER GATE GUIDE
2015
ENGISTAN.COM

From Team Engistan Desk
Dear students,
As the GATE 2015 is over, now the next step is to apply for M.Tech courses
(through GATE 2014/2015 or NON GATE exam 2015 ) and for PSU’s recruiting through GATE score which is quite complicated. To make M.Tech and PSU application process easy for students engistan.com have launched this After
Gate Guide 2015 which contain cutoff analysis of IITs, NITs, IIITs, regional colleges etc, written test and interview preparation tips, complete information about PSUs, Preference Order of Institutes & Disciplines, Career options after gate exam at one place.
One thing we want to highlight is scoring high in gate exam does not grantee your admission in IIT or a job in PSU, remember the battle is still on. Keep revising basic concepts regularly for interview and written test (for M.tech and
PSU both), both got weight age of 30% or more in complete selection procedure. Preference Order of Institutes & Disciplines we have provided are on the basis of previous year cutoffs (2012, 2013 and 2014), Faculty, Infrastructure and
Application, Research Collaborations, Placements, Industry Linkages, Quality of
Students. So you are free to choose any college or discipline. We gave you a rough guideline for M.tech Admissions and PSU recruitments. And we advice students to read this guide thoroughly. These few pages will serve as a quick reference guide for top institutes (and PSUs) and their selection process.
With Best wishes
Team Engistan

2. Career Opportunities after GATE
Traditionally, students use to consider few options after cracking gate exam such as scientist or a professor. But now the scenario has changed and scope has widen up. Now there are many more career options that students can explore with a decent gate score. And recently there is huge growth in the number of aspirants for gate exam, increasing to the tune of 1.5
-2.5 lakhs every year.
Career after Gate:

Master of Technology (M.Tech / ME/ MS ) from a premier institute like IISc, IITs, NITs etc.
This degree provides expertise in specialized subjects which does extra value addition to student’s profile and adds technical value also. Although with passing time the cut off gate score for admission to IIS or IIT has increased.

Moreover while doing M.Tech you will be employed, you will get a financial assistant ship of Rs 8,000/- per month.

Management colleges like symbiosis take students in their MBA program through GATE
SCORE. But prepare yourself well for the question “Why gate (Not CAT Or GMAT) if you want to pursue MBA?” from interview point of view.

The Integrated M.Tech and Phd Course from a well-known institute is one of the options after gate exam. But this course is meant for those students who explore new things, believe in research, can work hard a lot with patience and lastly can have books all the time in their hands. For more information about Integrated M.Tech and Phd visit: http://engistan.com/integrated-m-tech-and-phd-courses/ 

GATE Score is also accepted by Universities outside India for PG program like National
University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University Singapore (NTU). The research in above universities is carried out with a focus on Asian perspectives and expertise. 

If you are a GATE qualified candidate you are eligible for the award of Junior Research
Fellowship (JRF) in Council of scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) Laboratories which is a publicly funded Research and development organisation.

After gate you can apply for M.Stat, M.Math and different fellowship program mes in Indian
Statistical Institute (ISI), Kolkata.

This year many Public Sector Undertaking are calling candidates directly for interview based on GATE Score.

GATE Score is also accepted by Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC). For Cut off for 2014 gate score: Click Here

3.2.2 NON-GATE M.TECH ADMISSION
Non gate entrance exams are for candidates who missed Gate exam but want to do M.Tech programme from premier institutes and also for those candidates who failed to clear cut off for these premier colleges despite having decent Gate score. Many reputed government private colleges/Universities conduct their own exam for M.tech admissions.
Type of Non gate M.Tech courses:
Full time M.Tech courses of 2 years/non gate exams: There are some universities and colleges that conduct their own test for admission in M.Tech courses like IIITs,
BITS Pilani , Thapar University etc.
Sponsored Full time M.Tech courses of 2 years: This course is for working professionals who are working in industry for over 1 or 2 or more year. The requirement for “No of years” varies from college to college. For this course you need to get a sponsorship certificate from the organisation you are working in stating that they provide you with two years study leave. Few seats are reserved under this category.
Part time M.Tech courses of 3 year: This course is also for working professionals, working in industry for over 1 or 2 or more year. The requirement for “No of years” varies from college to college. For this course you need to get a NOC “no objection certificate” from the organisation you are working in and you must live within some distance (for example 35KM) radius from universities. Classes are usually conducted in evening and weekends.

Selection Procedure: Usually all colleges conduct test followed by interview for full time
,sponsored and part time M.Tech courses.
Requirements for work experience, education qualification etc for above mentioned courses vary from college to college.

Deemed Universities: In recent time good deemed universities have come up. For admission in M.Tech these universities conduct test and interview.
State Universities: Some of the good universities in different states conduct their own test for admission in M.Tech which is mostly followed by an interview.
Application forms for sponsored and part time M.tech are released when notification for full time M.tech is released.

3.3 INTERVIEW & TEST PRIOR TO ADMISSION

As soon as gate result is out, students start applying to IISc, IITs, NITs and other local colleges within states. Short listing and interview process start in the month of April and
May.
If you get an interview call first and foremost thing is RESERVE your ticket (train/air) to reach institute on time for test and interview.

Why test and interview: To select best student, test and interview are conducted by some institutes like IISc, IITs etc.

Written Test: The weightage for written test is 10 %( may differ by 5-10 %) in the complete process of admission to M.Tech/MS. So if you score low don’t panic, interview is still there.
Written test may be subjective or objective (Multiple choice questions) depending on institutes. The syllabus for written test is usually given on the institute website so regularly visit it.

Interview: The weight age for interview is 30 %( may differ by 5-10 %). Interview is bit tough as sitting in front of a panel of 6-7 professors is very scary. But if you are prepared well no need to worry.
1. For interview prepare one subject very well, mostly they will ask you for your choice.
2. And if you are preparing easiest subject then thoroughly prepare the difficult part of that subject, because they have an idea (because of their experience) which topic student will skip.
3. In Short make sure you have understood well all your b.tech concepts. The clearer they are the better you will answer their questions.
4. If the subject prepared by you has some formula try to memorize them.
Engistan.com || Engineer’s Community

Page 15

AFTER GATE GUIDE 2015

Engistan.com|| Engineer’s Community

5. Know the basic concepts of other subjects also as in the panel professors can be from different backgrounds.
6. After subjects, prepare your project work done during college or while working.
7. If you are interested in research prepare well about your research interest area.
8. Always avoid argument and be polite.
9. They may ask to justify your answer of written test.
10. If you don’t know a particular answer then politely say “I don’t know”. Don’t try to guess the answer. It may create problem for you as the next question can be from the same topic.

The interview panel judge your analytical ability and your understanding of problem ,so answer their question based on logic. Show them that you are ready to learn new things.
And you have to prove that you are better than what your score shows.

Healing Hospitals

...Running head: HEALING HOSPITALS Healing Hospitals Shari Wilson Grand Canyon University HLT-310V September 23, 2012 Healing Hospitals Spirituality and healing hospitals; what are they and how are they related to one another? Is every hospital considered a healing hospital and if not why? The purpose of this paper is to identify what spirituality means to this writer, to describe the components of a healing hospital and their relationship to one another, and to describe the challenges that hospitals today face in creating this healing environment. Spirituality can be defined as “the ongoing endeavor to grow in our relationship with God” (Pable, 2012). Spirituality is a considered a venture and not a set of ideas or principles. Spiritualty is a way of living that includes choices that are action-oriented. It gives direction to ones thinking and decision-making process and the actions that you take and it is something that is never ending. Spirituality is not the same for every individual. For some, spirituality has to do with ones relationship with God with the ultimate goal in broadening that personal relationship with him. For others, it may mean simply the challenge of reaching beyond ones current potential. Spirituality is something that is personal, but it is also rooted in being connected with others and with the world around them. It's the way you find meaning, hope, comfort, and inner...

We can see through the success of Henry Ford that if the two or more projects are not affiliated or related to each other, starting another project after completely finishing one project can help us to focus on every pace and do each delicately. Environmental movements are a form of new social movements alongside the women's movement. Environmentalists are concerned with the environment in its relation to human society. There are many environmental issues facing our green world today. We the new generation owe the basic responsibility of protecting our green world. Some of the issues which we can focus on to improve the earth's environment are mentioned below; Save fuel The biggest issue the world faces today; it is our dependence on oil. This dependence we have is so strong that, we have started wars for oil. It is time we do something about it and try and find an alternative form of energy. Because soon this problem will be too much for us to handle and by then it will be too late. Save energy o Set your thermostat a few degrees lower in the winter and a few degrees higher in the summer to save on heating and cooling costs. o Install compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) when your older incandescent bulbs burn out. o Unplug appliances when you're not using them. Or, use a "smart" power strip that senses when appliances are off and cuts energy use. o Wash clothes in cold water whenever possible. Walmart Ethical Issues

...1. Yes, I do believe Walmart is doing enough to become more sustainable. Walmart is one of the most powerful companies internationally.   As with all things that come with power, Walmart’s business practices are scrutinized thoroughly.   This includes their relationships with suppliers, employees, consumers, and the environment.   In recent years, the environment has become such a big issue that Walmart, as well as other companies have had to respond to this growing concern. Part of the reason Walmart has not only stayed around but has continued to grow over the years has been its ability to adapt to change in times.   This ability has helped them with their environmental practices.   Walmart has attempted to address the concerns of its environmental stakeholders by becoming a “greener” company. Walmart has many goals such as reducing greenhouse gases at stores, clubs, and distribution centers worldwide by 20 percent, designing prototypes to be 25 to 30 percent more efficient and developing and installing innovative energy-efficient technology into stores. Currently Walmart is working on four main green areas: waste improvement and recycling, natural resources, energy, and social/community impact. Walmart’s long-term goals are to be supplied 100 percent by renewable energy, create zero waste, and carry products that sustain the environment and its resources. 2. By examining the ecological impacts of hazardous substances that pollute both the natural and human environments, like pesticides, Carson fundamentally altered the way Americans perceived the environment and the dangers of toxins to themselves. Conservationism vs. environmentalism By the 1870s, resource exploitation dominated development patterns in the West.
